I'm only 3 episodes in. So far? Middling.
I mean, it's a hell of a lot better than Starlost. But it's not beating out, for example, Space: 1999.

World of Warships
That's a great marketing decision - "Let's name our game something that will be mentally autocorrected to a much more successful, much blander game."

The accident information board in our main production area fell off the wall onto someone's head.
That is amazing.
So, in the middle of their concussion, did they consult the board? Was Health and Safety called? If so, who has to serve the jail time?
-
Thankfully it was a reasonably light whiteboard and just resulted in offensive language directed at the board rather than a cracked head.
There will absolutely be a detailed incident report created about it thanks to our shiny new procedures™, luckily that job is someone else's

?
It's part of their branding. World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, and now World of Warships.
But you're right, Warplanes is bland as shit.

Brillant!

Well, the UI now looks as attached. Don't know if it's better, tho.
Also, you can't change volume without internet connection.

There are no excuses for bugs like this.

I was talking about a different /^World of War.*$/.

And? You are supposed to connect flat TVs to a stereo anyways.
Built-in speakers are awful.

Well, the build quality of these TVs is unrivaled (yeah. I almost managed to write that with a straight face).
I mean, I have a Smart TV from Samsung and a soundbar from Samsung (bought them both at the same time). Now I have three remote controls:
a) a remote with a touchpad-like control and reduced amount of buttons. Among the missing buttons: Play, Pause and Fast Forward / Backward. Makes this remote unusable because 50% of the time at this TV is spent in streaming apps like Plex or Amazon Instant Video.
b) a remote with all the buttons. But no volume control through this remote because that one only works through
c) a clunky1) remote for the soundbar where only half the buttons actually do somethingNow, with both devices being from Samsung, one might look for a way to control them both through one remote (yeah, you can start laughing now).
But there is! Yes, there's a small icon in the upper right corner when you select another input source which leads you to a wizard where you can choose your soundbar's model and which leads you to the promised land!
Only it doesn't work. Despite my soundbar's model being listed, the tests (three of them) do nothing. I'm not sure they actually tested this stuff.
1) looks like the ugly stepchild of remotes - seriously, the train of though was: Has the proper amount of buttons, works, who cares about design!

I agree - there are no excuses for Tizen.
I'm not sure they actually tested this stuff.
I could give you some inside info on that, but I think you already know what I wish to say.

That was the comparison I was looking for. You doing Netflix, Hulu, or something else?

Is it in 4k now at least?

Well, the quality work they did there shows in the search mask - you see, when the initial three tests fail you're given the possibility of entering the model of the soundbar directly.
So I enter "hwf355" (because I own an HWF355/EN) and am presented with...
... HWF450.
The 355 variant is nowhere to be seen - I have to scroll down all the way and then select "Fetch more models" and then, halfway down, I finally find the correct entry. Doesn't work with that one either, though.
-
I have the DVD set.
-
Hard to tell, really. There are talks the TV output bypasses X in some hackish way, but nobody knows for sure. The rest - interface, apps etc. are 1080.
EDIT: Or was it 720. Can't remember atm. But I think 1080.

Status: Giggling at technology.
So Akismet flagged me as a spammer on discus.Flarum, probably justifiably too given my post count here.
So I create a thread to discuss the matter as the current way of indicating the status of the posts caused me enough confusion that i had to jump on
IRCgitter.im to ask the devs what happened.Akismet flagged the topic as spam.
See, if this had been discourse my reaction would have been vastly different here.

I found some other kind of switch that informed dpkg to actually uninstall the package for realz.

Phone screen. Went ok, mostly, I think. Interviewer asked a few tech questions I didn't know the answers to. Contract, low rate, no benefits, relocation at my own expense, but it would be a paycheck. :/
-
I love the complete quack psychologist they have at the SHADO base. The guy's a complete nutcase. I get the sense they intended us to take him 100% seriously.
-
Don't relocate for a contract. That's a terrible idea.
-
I moved to WA for a contract, and that worked out ok. However, I'd rather not relocate again if I can help it, and I'd really don't want to relocate for anything less than 12 months. However, I need a paycheck, and I may have to do something I don't want to get it. This isn't the paycheck I want, though; alimony and child support put a pretty high floor under the amount I can afford to live on, and this rate is somewhere near the basement ceiling. I'm really hoping for something good from the face-to-face I had last week; that's around kitchen countertop height.

Status: Picked two washing baskets full of apples (maybe around 60lb?). The variety is only suitable for cooking with (though it's excellent for that) and we've got no way to keep them for more than a month or two, so it's time for pies, sauces and chutneys…

Picked two washing baskets full of apples
My plums are a variety primarily intended for drying (prunes), but they also make excellent eating fresh — probably the second-best variety of plum I've ever had. Unfortunately, they ripen pretty much all at once, and they'll only keep for a few days, so >90% of them go to waste.

Well, the Bramley apple variety is only suitable for eating if you like your apples extremely sour indeed. But it cooks to a wonderful sour mash (almost by itself, with only minimal effort by the cook) which you can easily sweeten up as much as required, so it is excellent for making things with. The next few weeks are going to be very apple-y.
I'm OK with this.
What I was less OK with was the spiders and insects crawling around on the tree, but that's why I was wearing a long-sleeved garment. (We were mostly fortunate; the sun spent most of the time behind clouds when we were picking, which makes the job a lot easier.)

"Upgraded" computer to Windows 10.
Installed fine. Suddenly black screen. Ctrl+alt+delete not doing anything. Why did I think this would be a good idea?
-
I think when I installed it some stuff didn't work until the first reboot after all the drivers had had a chance to install themselves. Which for some reason wasn't done during the upgrade, but after it, when it had already rebooted like six times.
