The ones I have noticed have been. They are fine up until you get to the closing the blade part of it.

That would work. That is the same way my pocket knife works for a blade lock. I have seen two types of folders:
and
Which are both difficult or impossible to close with one hand.

Status: working from home, first day of working since my accident. Immediately frustrated by the way inspecting a Sage variable in debug can time out, resulting in no other variables being evaluated and the entire process basically dying
-
Are we having the knifes conversation again already? Not 3 months have passed since the last one.
-
I've got that exact model in blue. Works perfectly.
-
Can you retract the blade? There's waaaay too much exposed in that photo, you're going to snap it.

Status: the QA director never shuts up. She is a huge attention whore. Everybody on her team is a huge brown-noser. I know more about her life than, say, the life of my own mom.
Next month at this time, we'll be in the new office space, where we paid special attention to getting dev placed as far from QA as possible. I long for it.

first day of working since my accident.
I looked back to find out what the accident was. How are you back to work so soon?

waiting for the manual vs auto grass mowing flame war to start
I have a rotary mower. Not self propelled.

More time mowing = more time to inspect whether kids have been on your lawn.

I can't even imagine how they think that's supposed to be superior to the normal box cutter design.
You didn't put a so I'll assume you're serious. The blade is stabilized by the back of the handle. Presumably you can easily adjust the depth using your thumb to avoid cutting stuff inside the box.

I am.
The blade is stabilized by the back of the handle.
Right; normal box cutters have a handle too. Why the big hook on it?

Like every box cutter ever?

Elbow injuries are funny. I was out of casts in a week, and out of slings by 2. At that point I couldn't do much, but if your elbow stays immobile for too long it goes to shit.
I now have fairly good mobility and growing strength, but still can't hold a shopping basket or drive. For the first few days I couldn't feed myself or wipe my own arse so it's still a win. The bones will be healed in a couple more weeks but I expect I'll be in physio for a while. Typing is ok now, which it wasn't even a few days ago.

The bottom of the hook could rest on the box as you cut (until you get close to the end, of course).
Like every box cutter ever?
Yep. However, since the angle of the blade is theoretically more stable due to having two points of contact on the box, the cutting depth is easier to control. Not that I've ever had a problem with that, but I haven't been the total disaster at a lot of things that you see on infomercials.
I don't know if the designer really meant all that, but that's what I see for actual potentially useful things. Which might be really useful for, say, someone with arthritis.

Racism? Check.
Dammit, I can never remember which country you're from, so I can't tailor my "who have your people got to be racist against, anyway?"
Who is it,
gypsiesRoma?

Always.
But also blacks, for some reason.

Not as long as you don't go prying around with it. For just cutting something open, they are fine.
-
Nope. As I said I prefer it for general use, but not for heavy where that is a bigger concern.
Edit: and apparently but by just a bit.

Status: QA rejected "The effective date cannot be in the past" when an "09/00/2015" was entered. Technically the error message is not actually incorrect; month zero comes before August. But I know what she meant.
The client-side JS does this, and then compares eff_date to curr_date. Is there a simple way for me to discover if the calculation produces an invalid date?
var eff_date = new Date(document.theForm.effDate.value);
ETA: Oh uncaring web gods, "08/00/2015" produces a date of 07/31/2015, WHY?
-
-
because JS
(dd/mm/yyyy)
also: "09/13/2015" turns into "09/01/2016"because fuck you, that's why
-
I found (or it was mentioned here, something) moment.js which lets you specify the format coming in and gives you a better date object, so you can check right there if it is valid or not:
var dateToCheck = moment(document.theForm.effDate.value, "MM/DD/YYYY"); //or whichever date format you get/prefer if (dateToCheck.isValid()) { // the date is valid var jsDate = dateToCheck.toDate(); //if you need a JS Date object ) else { // the date isn't valid }
Also found out Chrome handles
new Date("08/00/2015")
differently than IE/FF. Chrome told me "Invalid date", IE and FF say "07/31/2015".

I just want my security updates. JUST THOSE. I'll upgrade to Win10 when Xubuntu 16.04 hits. THEN. NOT NOW. SO STOP DOING STUFF I DON'T NEED. PLEASE.
I thought I had deferred installation. "Reboot now to start installing win 10." Crap. No, not yet. I don't have time in the morning before going to work! (Planning on doing it this weekend)

Video of that huge explosion in Tianjin, China today. Holy crap.
Hmm. All in Chinese. Seems to want me to log in or something... No clue.

moment.js
++
AFAIK almost the only way to do dates on js in a way that resembles sanity

I remembered we're using some library (I don't know if it was written in house or it's from a public one) to do validations already, so I am tempted to call this a bug in that and say "let whoever wrote it fix it".

We had a productive meeting this week.
We three devs and the product people and a QA met in a room and worked and had pizza.
I realized once again that even without the pizza, my performance goes up several orders of magnitude in a collaborative environment.

So the non-resizeable window isn't big enough to fit your listbox. Do you make it bigger? NAH
Blame Microsoft. That's how MSI works. Yeah, sucks.

Really smells like thunderstorm where I live.
And it's raining.

It's finally dreary and overcast here. I've been waiting for it. Yesterday, the sun still came out. Glad it's gone today.

Well, shit. Windows Update done fucked up.
I'm pretty sure that WU and digital signing are 2 completely separate things... I'd still say nVidia done fucked up.

If only I'd read this ZDNet article before I tried a Windows 10 clean install!!!

The weather desktop gadget has stopped working.
I used to have that. Liked it. Uninstalled it because of what you found. Weird thing is it died on 2 different computers at different times - about 2 weeks apart.

I do not know of this rain that you speak of.

No, really. Nobody brought up an irrelevant AOB and then droned on about it for half an hour or anything.
We had a productive meeting this week ... and had pizza.
Mine did not contain pizza and it was over lunchtime. Catering is verboten unless customers are present. I should make an argument that we'd be even more productive with food in us.

So, must be the result of bots, right?

Haven't you been having a drought?

This time of year, sounds like a typical afternoon for me. Though our monsoons are suspiciously absent right now.

I fucking hate people.
People are the worst.
Rather than have people speculate or message players for answers, I'm going to go ahead and announce the new EG Dota 2 roster: Sumail, Universe, Fear, PPD, and Arteezy.
Yes, Kurtis was removed from the roster. The rest of the players decided that the above roster was what they wanted to go forward with.
Personally, I'm deeply affected by this and I'm very sad to see Kurtis go. I've known him the longest out of anyone on the team. He was the one that originally asked me to be the manager for Potm Bottom years ago, and I cannot state enough how depressed I am to see him go. I cannot imagine how much worse he feels.
Professionally, I trust the judgment of the captain and the other players. I will not make roster decisions on their behalf and I will not force players to play on rosters they don't want to play on. EG is deeply grateful to Kurtis for what he has helped contribute, and will continue to support him in whatever he decides to do and wherever he decides to go. I say this both for myself and on behalf of the organization.

Status: Just had to force-reboot a tablet because it timed out on the OpenVPN, and Windows login screen got stuck trying to authenticate the Microsoft account using the broken Internet connection.
FFS, Microsoft, have you ever heard of timeouts?
-
Wait, what position will Arteezy play? AUI was position 4.
-
Fear -> Support
RTZ -> CarryThat's the speculation at least
