Minecraft modding, as if I needed yet another time sink in my life.
Were these roll-your-own or Forge-based?

The guy behind the show loved gay people.
Right; but then he puts in this nasty gay-bashing "joke" about the guy everybody assumes it gay because of the way he dresses and because he works as an airline steward, but who isn't. Not only gay-bashing, but incredibly unfunny.
Hell that joke would have been seen as "caveman humor" back in 2000. Hahaha-- he's an airline steward, but... he's a GUY! Hilarious! That is a job male manly men typically do not have! What's next in this parade of wackiness? A man who's a NURSE!? (Oh wait they did that in Doctor Who too. WTF.)
-

Spigot-based. I want to stick to server-modding so my players don't have to mess with their client to get things working.

Status: The power went out here around 10am. I kept working for a little bit until the UPS's ran out of juice. Then I took a nap with the dogs on the couch in my office. Now, I am going to go pick up the rug rat and go to a park as the storms have passed.
Still no power, haven't gotten a thing done that I needed to, but it has been a pretty damned good day. I needed the rest and nothing will make you stop working quite like being without power and being completely unable to work.

Right; but then he puts in this nasty gay-bashing "joke"
It just occurred to me that most of the gay people on Doctor Who and Torchwood are portrayed actually somewhat negatively. They're pretty much all predatory.

Status: the gorram part-timer waited until I took my lunch and put her car down in the underground parking garage. Notice how I phrased that--since she only works six hours she's not actually entitled to lunch, not that that hasn't stopped her from taking hour-long lunches almost every day for the last year or who knows how long.

Why does this register a complaint from you? I figure I'm missing something, but unsure what it is.

The power went out here around 10am.
For some unknown reason (not storms; we haven't had any), the power has gone here out a few times recently, about once a week or so, for 3 – 5 seconds at a time, just long enough to make the clock on the stove flash, but not long enough to forget what time it is. Oh, and long enough to kill the computer, of course, and I haven't gotten around to replacing my UPS that died.

Status: Optimistic. Phone interview with the client for a minimum 1 year contract, with possibility of renewal. I thought the position was in San Diego, but there's a strong possibility they'd want me to work out of one of their Bay Area offices, which would be even better — close to my kids, and lots of friends in the area. The interview seemed to go well, and the manager closed with, "Well, let me talk to HR...," which seems to me like something one wouldn't say unless one intended to proceed.
I'd be employed by a consulting agency, so even if the client likes me, the agency has to make me an offer that I can afford to live on. I've had several quote me really low-ball rates.

Just finished watching Torchwood. Holy shit that was awesome. I love Tosh and Jack. They should have hooked up, too bad she died.
-
I'm missing the connection between parking in the garage and taking a lunch break she's not entitled to.
-
Just finished watching Torchwood.
Haha wait did you watch the episodes where they go to the US?
-
Mind reading engaged - @FrostCat went out to lunch leaving the parking garage which was basically full, prior to his returning the part timer took a quick lunch and took his now empty space. Thus when FrostCat got back there wasn't a parking space for him in the parking garage.

Yeah, that's what season 3 and 4 is. The BBC did those with Starz as co-producers. Bill Pullman is actually pretty good in season 3.
-
Why does this register a complaint from you? I figure I'm missing something, but unsure what it is.
Because she's supposed to work from 9-3, and I work 8-5. So if I go to lunch, then she swipes "my" spot while I'm gone, and I have to park in the 100-degree Dallas sun. Plus, like I said, she leaves at 3, so that means the spot is now wasted unless I go out and move my car, which seems silly.
Also, she's only here 4 days a week, and she gets in late and leaves early, and takes (long) lunches when she's not entitled to them. I think someone that shows such little concern for working her proper hours doesn't deserve such a perk.
-
OMG. She moved her car. Jesus Christ. Call the press!
No, she gratuitously took my spot.
-
part timer took a quick lunch
I'm not sure if she took lunch--which again, she's not entitled to--or just went out and moved her car into the spot. We have two reserved spots.
The other things is, instead of being a shitweasel about it, she could just SAY she wants to park in the spot, and I'd be willing to rotate on a weekly basis or whatever. But no, she just waits for me to leave and grabs the spot.
The origin of the problem is the last two bosses let her get away with all kinds of shit they shouldn't, like arriving early, leaving late, special rules for expense reimursements, etc.
-
let her get away with all kinds of shit they shouldn't, like arriving early, leaving late,
Yeah, nobody should be allowed to arrive early and leave late.

I suspect that she is an hourly employee. In which case, arriving early and leaving late could be problems if such schedule changes are not authorized.
-
Yeah, nobody should be allowed to arrive early and leave late.
Listen, shit happens, and this is a private company and most of the people here have been here 20+ years. I'm actually pretty recent with only 7.5 years tenure. My attitude is, if you're 5 minutes late because the line at Starbucks was busy? Fuck it, just try to stay an extra 5 or something.
But 10-30 minutes, each day, at each end? And 60-90-minute lunch breaks when you're not supposed to take 'em? She's already got a bunch of perks, including being, I think, the only part-timer in the company. And she abuses the hell out of it.
-

That is correct. She needs to be here during her scheduled hours because customer support is one of her primary duties. But nobody wants to enforce it. Admittedly I have no idea if the central office even knows about any of it. I only found out last week my now-ex-boss didn't know until recently she was lunching.
-

If she's arriving early and leaving late, she is there during her scheduled hours, and then some.

I rescind my earlier comment. I expect that you swapped some adverbs:

earlylate, leavinglateearly,I believe this constitutes a FTFY.

BTW, this bit about not taking lunch is actually her choice. She's a helicopter mom who can't let her 12yo walk/bike the 1.98 miles[1] to school, and she has to be home in time to pick him up from school.
[1] Literally. Her town has a 2-mile limit for free bus rides, like many, and apparently the kid at the next house can take the bus, but hers can't. Still, I have no sympathy whatsoever, as I walked to school starting around age 9. Uphill only one way, before anyone asks, but in winter it was through waist-high snow, albeit plowed.

Ugh. jimmies definitely rustled. She's arriving late and leaving early. Ok, to be fair, sometimes she stays late, but that's the exception, not the rule. Today was 9:31-3:31 less however long she pissed off for lunch.

Fortunately it can irelessly connect to your mobile device, so at least you don't get irate from using it.
Also you can heck Egg Minder while at the store. Too bad you can't damn it to heck at home, but... version 2 maybe.

This is literally like living in the 3rd world.
When the power goes out in my house, the internet goes out with it because my modem has no power. The fact that you managed to post several times without power or internet is quite telling about the world we live in.
-
I threw in the "literally" to feed the pendants. ;-)
But yes, the fact that we have high speed Internet connections on our phones, that are powerful enough to be capable of displaying JS heavy sites and posting to them really is quite telling of the modern world.
Also, the fact that I have UPS to power the switches and access points in our house for quite a while even after the power goes out shows just how spoiled I am.

I want to know how the flip he even managed to export a JAR when his code was calling Collection methods that literally don't exist.
Default methods were added to interfaces in Java 8. Perhaps that's what you're seeing here? (I've not had time to get into J8 yet. It breaks some of my code for other reasons that are not easily fixable — switching to a different classloader management system is a lot of work, even though it'll eventually be for the best — so my motivation for switching quickly is very low.)

If that's the case, then TRWTF is that Java 1.7 will happily load up incompatible Java 1.8 code without warning and then dump itself when it runs into Java 1.8 stuff.
.NET got this stuff figured out almost a decade ago.
-
Running Java 8 binaries in a Java 7 VM should give you a Unsupported major.minor version exception. Which apparently is the most clear way to tell someone they are running their program in the wrong JVM
