Is that the one that @boomzilla turned off because
LinuxWindows doesn't work properly?FTFY
It's not Linux's fault that Windows destroys data.
-
Sorry you use shitty buggy software
In fact, I don't usually! I rarely have to boot into Windows. But I appreciate your concern.
I don't remember Facebook asking for my driving license when I signed up
Yeah, I imagine that they only ask for something when stuff is obviously weird or if someone reports you. Who knows? But:
It really doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

Additionally you do realize that Windows since 8 does a hibernate instead of just shutting down in most cases? E.g. what you think is a shutdown might be just a close apps, logoff, hibernate cycle.
I'm aware. Mine does.
Look, apps kept crashing so I switched it off. Could it be better now? Perhaps. I just don't care enough to find out.
On Mac, I need it because it has a crappy stacking window manager, where everything is super fiddly and need to be carefully arranged.
On Linux, I have a devops-like workflow, with a bunch of arranged terminals looking into different servers / things. Also, add different workspaces, with their own terminals and apps etc. Basically, there's a lot more going on than on Windows. Plus I reset it more often.
On Windows, my workflow is very tiling based (everything is full screen most of the time), so it's not such a pain to bring everything back after restart. Which happens exceedingly rarely, much rarer than on Linux.
Bottom line, I DON'T CARE.
That's impossible because Hibernate doesn't work in Windows! SO SAYS CARTMAN82 THE EXPERT! Who is not at all a huge tool!

When was this? Like 1997?
Bottom line, I DON'T CARE.
Then why the fuck are you so upset Windows doesn't have (according to your delusions) the feature? You brought it up!

No, I mentioned it in passing, while explaining session management on Linux. You were the one who dropped a monocle and spilled your gin at the thought of your beloved Windows's honor being besmirched.

Status:
Contacted by a recruiter a few weeks ago. The role seemed a bit web-heavy for my skillset, and I raised this as a potential problem. He said the web part was fairly minimal and I let him pass my CV on.I was meant to have an interview last Friday, but the interviewer was on a training course. Instead, I had a phone interview with an HR guy on Thursday. He liked me and said I would be recommended to go through to the interview I was already meant to go to. He would let the recruiter knows by Monday (yesterday)
Emailed the recruiter yesterday afternoon to see what was happening. Was told that I "definitely" had a face-to-face interview, and he was waiting on the company to give him a date and time to pass on to me.
Just had a call from him. The technical interviewer has decided not to go any further with my application because my experience is more back office and not front endy enough. i.e. not enough web experience. I'm pretty annoyed he didn't, you know, read my CV before going through all the other crap and getting my hopes up.

Status: successfully convinced people at work that no, the fact that you have 16 product categories does not mean you should keep them in 16 separate tables. Not even if for a few tables there's an additional column.
And especially not if you want me to design a single table in which entries may refer to either one of them.
Oh, and since the PKs were initially 5+ columns, if I wanted referential integrity, I'd need like 100 FK columns just to find out which record is being referred to.

"Undesirables" should be sent to Antarctica, without the benefit of survival gear. We can start with everyone who is currently on death row.

http://www.krazyglue.com/faqs/how-do-i-remove-krazy-glue-from-plastic-glasses-lens#.VZwAEJ_09n4
Krazy Glue can be removed with acetone. However, acetone is a pretty powerful solvent and can damage some types of plastic. A safer solvent is nitromethane
Safe by what definition?

They have the break in conversation gap, maybe we could get them to add a flag if you are replying to something from far back? Like something next to the reply indicator saying over 90 days?

Safe by what definition?
Nitromethane is actually less flammable than acetone (although that's not saying a lot).Nitromethane:
WARNING! FLAMMABLE LIQUID AND VAPOR.
Acetone:
DANGER! EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE LIQUID AND VAPOR. VAPOR MAY CAUSE FLASH FIRE.
Nitromethane is more toxic, though.

Nitromethane is more toxic, though.
Kind of what I was getting at, I did not feel like linking to the MSDS though. ;)

@accalia: http://bato.to/comic/_/comics/tomo-chan-wa-onna-no-ko-r15722 is the comic I was talking about.
http://bato.to/read/_/329383/tomo-chan-wa-onna-no-ko_ch1-10_by_msterscanz/1 is page 1, which I would have linked an image of, but phone.
http://bato.to/read/_/329965/tomo-chan-wa-onna-no-ko_ch31-40_by_msterscanz/9 it's the specific page I thought was funny. Again, It would be an image, but phone.
That first page was enough to get me to read more.
Anyway, if some kind soul would be willing to post those two pages as images, that would be awesome. As pastes, preferably.

Wonderful, thanks. It's always good to have a bit of comedy about people dying a little inside around.

Status: Phone interview. Half-way through, the client decides this isn't going to work; we need to reschedule with some kind of whiteboard or desktop-sharing setup. Recruiter is supposed to be figuring out how to set that up. (At least the client thinks I'm worth the trouble to do that. That's a good thing, right?) Supposed to hear back some time today.

They don't have a corporate GoToMeeting subscription? Neither of them? Hell, if they don't even have enough sense to sign up for a free trial to get that done...do you really want to work for them?
On second thought, please do. We need more fresh fodder for the forums.
-
It does sound promising, but they could also just be a noob at the whole interview thing.

Now that I don't ever have to worry about having to pass a urine test, I definitely would not say no. Bring on the pot-laden scrambled eggs. I need to chill the fuck out anyway.
