Status: 32GB Nexus 9 for £400… waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant…
If you ask this fox she would say: WORTH IT!

If you ask this fox she would say: WORTH IT!
Plus it'd be a good replacement for my ageing Nexus 7, which has been slower than the Discourse hamster wading through molasses since updating to Lollipop…
-
Is it the 2012 model? That's pretty much unusable on 5.0. My 2013 is a bit jerky sometimes but generally OK.
Apparently the 5.1 update will fix the memory leak and make everything hunky-dory again. Hopefully it makes it to my Moto G, which currently can't run a browser and a podcast player simultaneously

Latest update has improved the situation but not completely. It's still slow but the complete freezes seem to be gone ... or at least are less frequent.

Local storage is Doing It Wrong. Everything should be stored on Google's servers for you to stream

I use OneDrive…Plus, y'know, gaems
-
Yeah, I had to clear my humble bundle cache a while back to be able to download updates for Play Store stuff.
-
Correct; the 2013 model doesn't come in 32GB for some reason…
But it handles Lollipop very well.
I didn't need 32GB storage in a tablet. It'd be hard to fill that much storage with games, and I've got 4TB of storage for movies and stuff at home anyway.

Status: Management have decided to find out what skills their staff have. Which isn't a bad idea really. The way they've done it though, well, it's a big ball of WTFs. Little things like doing drop-down boxes for everything on the form (on sharepoint, of course). Bigger things like not explaining what the skills they mention really are, so nobody knows whether “Alumni” means anything relevant to them or not. Really rather large things like not really having an idea what skills people are likely to say in the first place, and sticking with stupid drop-downs for it all.
The word on the grapevine is that this will set back management's understanding of what we know and do by at least a year.

Real helpful, thanks! Broken pipe... Oh I'll break something piece of crap *mutter*

Status: downloaded about 900 free Paint.NET plugins and installed them. Paint.NET is... not happy about it...
No worries. Just Google "free registry cleaner". The first results will fix you right up, no problem.

Status: Now trying to figure out why some I/O requests to the SD card take 300+ milliseconds to complete on the system. Looks like Linux’ I/O scheduler doesn’t handle that very well...
Status: Working around the I/O latencies by adding a thread to perform potentially-blocking writes to the

Status: I copy-pasted the smegging example, yet you still complain! WTF do you want, you Asteriskhole?
COMPLAIN!

Status: Hating StackOverflow. I'm having a problem, found an SO entry on it, and the top voted-up answer is wrong. It looks reasonable but takes 2 seconds to test and find it's plain wrong. I don't have enough reputation to downvote it, and there are several comments on it simply saying "-1 because SO won't let me downvote."
-
Post the link and I'll downvote it for you
-
The intent is to complain about the site, not actively expend effort to make it better.
Sheesh, you people.
-
I can complain when something inevitably cocks up in my attempt to downvote

Status: wishing this database had some referential integrity. It would make it a lot easier to work out which table EntryID is coming from
-
Also, not Japan and Hungary-proof - instead of using a potentially localization-aware method - if we ever add that - of our User class to get the full name, it just does user.FirstName + " " + user.LastName.
Wouldn't First+Last still work for those, just first name would be the surname? Though I guess if you use them individually elsewhere that could then cause issues.

Status: So, apparently, my code works, Asterisk is just being a dick and keeps fucking up the responses to my commands. Luckily, I don't really care for them in this instance because if they fail there's fuckall I can do anyway.
Also, headache. I blame the weather, lack of sleep and Asterisk. Mostly Asterisk.

RIP in Pepperonis Top Gear
…excuse me a moment…*goes in a corner*
*curls up in a ball*
*mourns the loss of one of her favourite shows*

Rumours Chris Evans would take it over. I know he's a big petrolhead but I don't think he could carry the show. He's also said he wouldn't do it even if he was asked, so it's a mu point anyway
-
-
The article says the show will continue without him, but even if it does (the other two presenters both refused to film the end of the last series without Clarkson, but maybe they'll feel differently about a new series without him. I suppose that'll be a bombshell to end something on) it'll hardly be the same show.
*pats Urchin on the shoulder with considerable caution*
There there, it's not so bad. This will help.

Meh. The other two won't do it without Clarkson, and no-one's going to watch Top Gear without Clarkson let alone the other two.
-
it'll hardly be the same show
Exactly. What'll happen is what happened to old Top Gear; it'll be bought by Channel 5 (or 4 maybe this time), they'll run it for a bit, but they won't get enough viewers, so it'll be shipped off to cable/satellite, where it'll eke out a meagre viewing until it eventually dies a slow, painful death. But yeah, that picture does help ;) I'd actually already seen it; @accalia @mentioned me, then Hanzo'd the @mention out just as the post was loading

I'd watch one episode, to see what the new presenters are like, but that's probably it. Because, let's be honest, Top Gear isn't about cars, and never really has been; it's been about Clarkson and his mates dicking about, doing all sorts of crazy shit like car rugby and building a bridge over the river Kok.

i was hoping you wouldn't notice that hanzo.....

crazy shit
don't forget the car boats/boat cars and all the other stuff that had FAILURE written all over it in big neon letters ...
-
The BBC will try to do another series, but it will be almost as bad as Top Gear US, and will be dropped. Sky or someone will hire Clarkson where he will present a show with a name just different enough to not get in trouble. Top Car or something.
Thus speaks the Oracle, @Jaloopa

I was a fan, and I'm not even interested in cars. I drive an 11-year-old Fiesta adopted from my parents, and I like it.

Sixth Gear?
Filed under: There are cars with six gears right? Not counting reverse, pendants. Or lorries.

so it'll be shipped off to cable/satellite
Isn't it already for all intensive porpoises?
-

my bike has 6 gears and no reverse
Sixth Gear?
IIRC, Channel 5 had a clone called 5th Gear

Yes, there are. More rare, but they exist.

@CarrieVS said:I drive an 11-year-old Fiesta adopted from my parents, and I like it
I used to have a 54-plate Fiesta; cracking little car
Until the engine failed, anyway
@CarrieVS said:There are cars with six gears right?
Plenty. Some have seven. There's even a Lexus with eight!
@PJH said:Isn't it already for all intensive porpoises?
Repeats don't count
@Jaloopa said:IIRC, Channel 5 had a clone called 5th Gear
Yep, though it moved to Discovery after a while, and is now on the History Channel
-
There are cars with six gears right?
Yes. I have one. It's becoming more common for new cars.

Dave is Freeview. Which since switchover is basic TV[EDIT: why did I reply to Urchin's reply instead of PJH's post? Oh I remember. It doesn't make sense now though.]
-
Plenty. Some have seven. There's even a Lexus with eight!
Sixth is more common as the "top" gear now though.
-
my bike has 6 gears and no reverse
Mine has 27. Without a number display because those are for squares.
-
mine has an engine and can go 150MPH+

27 is a cube, not a square...
... ah - that was your point.
