Last week I briefly googled on my phone what to use to remove silicone scraps. Since then, YouTube on my tv has continued to show me ads (in that one integrated spot that looks like a video the app doesn’t block) for removing and putting on new silicone.
Different device, different network. TV YouTube is logged in but phone most certainly isn’t.
Not creepy at all.

Is there even such a thing as "not logged in to Google" on an Android phone?

iPhone.
Of course “not logged in” doesn’t mean they’re not tracking you. It only means they’re not legally tracking you.

Keep up the good work. In time the entropy field you’re creating should corrupt enough of their algorithm dataset to render it useless enough that they scrap it.

Great, now that spot is literally showing me anti-LGBT propaganda. (Some fucktard explaining that in Berlin you now have to pick between LGBT or going to jail, and shit like that.)
Just when I thought ads couldn’t get worse.

status: finished Atomic Heart. Interesting twists at the end I suppose. Annoyed at the end. Have to wonder if there are alternate endings. Upset that "Atomic Heart" has almost nothing to do with the actual plot of the game.
Also, highly annoyed that enemy friendly fire is always turned off. There is no way in hell each of this mob is able to perfectly synchronize movements to avoid hitting another and interfering with attacks. Ridiculous.
-
Status: There are two things wrong with Lords of the Fallen. One is that there is no friendly fire among enemies (and no aggro that way, but that isn't so important) and the other is that it likes crashing a lot.

Well, I haven’t seen the new season yet, but I’m currently watching the Single Female Lawyer episode, where Lrrr invades earth because of some tv show from 1000 light years ago. Every single scene is packed full of great, witty jokes.Filed under: It’s true what they say: Women are from Omikron Persei 7, men are from Omikron Persei 9.

@topspin I've seen the new season. It's still as good.

Status: Was going to backup my phone data, as I was planning jumping from Android 11 to Android 13 (for raisins stated elsewhere)
Not enough space on the external drive to create a new backup, because it's already full of prior backups.
Tapped too fast working through deleting them, and.... oops, started applying the backup in a restoration operation.
Turns out, clearing out a partition is a very fast operation when you're simply initializing the tables and not deleting the records.
Anyways, spent the last 10 hours setting up my "new" phone.
I'm thinking I should find a replacement app for some of them that only allow internal database storage and no export functionality. Maybe CLOUD sync!
Also status: Chrome is extremely angry at "Weary".
Edit: Speaking of cloud sync/backup, apparently Google is unable to decrypt the backup it has of my phone from 1 hour before the incident with the unlock pattern I've used for years and most certainly was using at the time of oops. Good jorb.

status beat don’t fear the reaper ending in Cyberpunk. My shotgun terminator with heart of gold turned the building into a slaughterhouse. Beat Adam Smasher with only a golden basebat in berserk mode. Went with the Johnny ending. Quite liked it.
The Dogtown arc was pretty good. If you like happy endings, this is not for you. You start up to your knees in shit and end it up to your eyeballs. Did a blind run and had a look around afterwards. Yeah no happy endings for anyone. Kinda fitting actually and very consistent. Even the gigs for Mr Hands were shitfests. In the scheme of things glassing that section of town would solve a lot of problems. Its not like NC hasn’t survived nukiller bombs.
Somehow got the extra ending in a blind run. Couldn’t do it. Went for suicide run instead. The extra ending and the corpo ones don’t fit. Even for a character like V. Weird thing about this run... I liked V more as a male character but still liked Johnny more. I think the multiple choice, multiple outcome story just ruins the writing for him. His character arc just ends up all over the place. Johnny stays true the whole way.
On the fence about a third run. Was thinking about a corpo, everyone must die run but I might move on to my lovecraft collection instead.

Apparently. Carl just made some tangential remark about “everybody lies about being in another country to get around rules about streaming”.
Who makes those rules / is going to enforce it?? Nintendo? Twitch?
-
@DogsB went through the rouge and johnny run. I think I might be done for now.
Overall: good gameplay loop. Some great concepts in there but went the action adventure route. Good stories. Great cast of characters. Poor main character and iffy endings. Overall: 9 / 5

Nintendo and it's enforced by them issuing a DMCA request to Twitch.
When Zelda got leaked Nintendo went on a DMCA frenzy and issued DMCA takedown requests against streamers who weren't even playing the game early and were only watching Nintendo's own preview footage.
-
@loopback0 weird as fuck.
I guess they’re going with “we reserve the right to sue any streamer on the grounds that we view streaming in general as copyright infringement, but just selectively sue people who break arbitrary rules they didn’t sign up to.”

I guess they’re going with “we reserve the right to sue any streamer on the grounds that we view streaming in general as copyright infringement, but just selectively sue people who break arbitrary rules they didn’t sign up to.”Nintendo has been doing this for at least 5 years now. Certainly on YT this has been the case where streaming/broadcasting any Nintendo content is 'fine' provided you're not monetising it, and if you're monetising it, Nintendo wants theirs unless you signed an agreement otherwise.
I don't see why this would be different on Twitch really.
-
@topspin who knows.
I think the streamers were being overly cautious with the lying about being in Australia thing but if my job required me to not be suspended from Twitch then I'd have probably done the same too.
-
@Arantor imagine if anytime you did screen-sharing at work Microsoft would consider that copyright infringement because you’re distributing Windows.
Fake edit: I have autocorrect enabled, because it’s generally useful. I just wish Apple provided a way to disable this contextual autocorrect bullshit they introduced several years ago which goes back to correct several words before the one you’re currently typing. That thing is a massive .
-
@topspin Microsoft correctly realise that streamers playing their games is free promo for them.
There is a small subset of games that watching a let's play of would prevent someone buying the game (under the view that they've got whatever value they were going to get out of the game just by watching) but honestly... I'm not sure that's a lost sale per se, because I'm not sure the would-be buyers in that scenario were ever going to purchase the game.
For example, Portal 2 intrigued me, with all the memes it spawned when it came out, and I was curious to see how the story unfolded but I also understood I wasn't good enough at the first one to justify buying the second only to fail at it, so I watched a Let's Play. I wasn't a lost sale, because I wasn't going to buy it anyway.
Nintendo appears to take the view that their games are just that special that watching them is akin to playing without paying somehow, and frankly I'm not sure any of their flagship franchises truly holds that.
-
@Arantor Generally, genres I watch let's plays of are not genres I'd play, and genres I'd play are not genres I'd watch let's play for. But I'm probably weird.

Maybe? There was certainly a time when the owner had the choice to demonetise, force-monetise or amp it up to a block.
I don't know, the whole thing's a crap shoot.

Status: Watched a YouTube "documentary" on the Ultimate Warrior.
About half an hour into it, many things about the narrator suddenly became obvious. He just went on and on and on about how "problematic" Jim Hellwig's public appearances were. Many of the not-particularly-focused-but-still-negative comments in the first half hour suddenly made sense. I remember flipping through channels about 20 years ago and catching the middle of some sort of conservative political speech. I was fascinated by the idea of the Ultimate Warrior, this raging lunatic in the ring, standing calmly behind a podium talking about government overreach. Dude had some weird ups and downs in his life, that's for sure.
Anyway, the narrator didn't like Hulk Hogan either, so I wasn't interested in any more of his schlockumentaries.

I saw a comment from someone somewhere (forget who or where) in the wake of the latest Mario game pointing out that Nintendo still think their platform game is special when it’s literally never been easier for people to make platform games that could be competitive.
It’s an interesting hill to die on, if nothing else.

There's a couple non-counting related reasons that could have happened.
- I is blacklisted for being too similar to 1
- I is a bubble in on the right side of the floor plan for some measurement/feature that occurs between H and J, but doesn't extend all the way to the left side of the floor plan and as such intentionally does not have a bubble on the left side.

Bzzzt! I could accept that postulation if there was a noticeable irregularity in the spacing, but alas, the first is more likely to be true despite other instances of
I
being used on the map (because of course it is).

Anyone can make a platform game, sure. But very few of them can approach the mechanics, level design and variety of modern Mario games (or even old Mario games, for their time). The problem with Nintendo's approach, to your original point, is that watching the games being played is in no way going to detract from wanting to play them.
-
@hungrier To a point, I guess. It was more the observation that Nintendo isn't as unique as it thinks it is and that maybe being a little kinder to people trying to promote its goods for it wouldn't go amiss.
