Chrome doesn't either FWIW.

@topspin In Brexitania, there are two taps on the sink, one for warm water, one for cold water. They are placed at maximum possible distance from each other.
Enjoy! In Canada, one is marked C for cold, and the other is marked C for chaude.
-
edit: that was supposed to be in the funny stuff thread

It's been a hot minute since xkcd used to be funny, but what the heck is this?
Is this some American joke I'm too European to understand? What part of this is confusing?
It might be referring to hotel showers. God damn do some of them make the worst Angular UIs look almost sane. Sometimes they don't have any colors (let alone words/letters) to indicate hot or cold. Other times, it's not clear if it's the handle or the (missing) point opposite the handle that determines hot or cold. Especially because it's not hot right away, so it may seem right, until you get back around the shower curtain and get scalded.

Status: I ordered parts for a new PC, including a Thunderbolt to DVI adapter. Only part that's showed up yet was the adapter, shipped in box bigger than any game console ships in. Which is even dumber because it was all supposed to ship from NewEgg and 90% of what I order from them comes from the NJ warehouse.
-
@Zenith And of course both knobs will have a soft block you have to press a button to move past - on one side this is the boundary around 37° (96°). On the other it is around 'light drizzle'.
-
@PleegWat And then there's also the ones which you turn to set temperature, and push to enable flow for 30 seconds (if you are lucky).
Labels, if not worn off, are a blue 'froid' on the left hand side, with barely notable arrow pointing clockwise, and a red 'chaud' on the right-hand side, with opposely pointing arrow. Design and correct orientation varies.

status finally someone has reached out to me to take my money. Even threw in delivery for free. Besides that bit of good news I've got a chest infection. Not stopping me going drinking though.
in an unbelievable display of competence, the salesman realised the product was sold out in his branch but found that it was still in stock elsewhere. He’s having them deliver direct. I may have found one of few competent salesmen.
the world is about to end!
It was meant to show up on Thursday but has shown up today and I confirmed its working. Is this a sign the world is about to end?

If there are clouds of steam being generated, it's hot.

@dkf I've got a kitchen tap like that. It has a separate control for boiling water.
-
@PleegWat That's really cool

Yes, please.
OK. It'll be done in 10 seconds plus however long you'd like it to seep, thanks to aforementioned boiling water tap.

status waiting to board a ryanair flight so looking for reading. I will one day read another Cormac McCarthy book but everytime I look to pick one up I can help but notice a 50-page intro by some twat gushing over him. I'm not paying for that.

The main advantage of building a PC in the winter is that it's much easier to supply the ritual sacrifice of blood from your knuckles while your skin is dry & chapped.
-
@Zenith It'll have to be Windows 10 or worse, and that means not getting your SQL Server of the 2005th year of our Lord to run
-
@Applied-Mediocrity Au contraire, it has a USB 2.0 port for me to install Windows 7 from so I can use MSSQL 2000. Take that causality!

Ah, but does it still have CSM? That's getting harder and harder to find nowadays.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Good question. I can’t find BIOS or UEFI in the spec sheet but I can find articles and FAQs that suggest or say it’s there.

Indeed. There haven't been any since 1972, and S part never returned to Earth intact.

Wanted to waste an evening playing PC games.
Instead wasted an evening diagnosing why my laptop doesn't think I have a discrete Nvidia GPU.
Probably been an issue since Windows 11 upgrade. :theres_your_problem.svg:

37° outside, now in December in Germany?
is happening here?
Those 67° inside look not correct either.I see: the thermometer shows Fahrenheits instead of Celsius.
Switch to correct units.
Everything is fine again.

It's called Machine Learning!
-
@topspin No, that's the other way around. You put the right numbers in and it only takes a stab at the answer.
-
@PleegWat but since it always just spits out more-or-less ass-pulls, correct input isn't so important anymore.
And who would dare to question any (wrong) outputs if the holy machine has produced it?
