Do-do do do-do-do do-do do you remember The Hustle?

To go back and save your work, Call AdvAPIExBr::AbortSystemShutdown and finish what you need to.
This app is preventing shutdown
Restart anyway RSrecCon

Status: Pleasantly surprised. Launching this .Net app on Mono (which it wasn't particularly designed for) seems to work pretty well. Well, except the shit that relies on a GUI Dispatcher thing.
No fucking clue why that was used, and now I'll need to actually make a proper queue to handle the things it was being
abused for.Hopefully it was only a handful of shit...

No, because you didn't mention that corrections are applied from time to time to keep the calendrical and sidereal years close.

I may be misunderstanding the conversation, but I feel like the statement "has nothing to do with" has a larger relative error than the one equating one year with one orbit.

Not true. The Gregorian calendar is kept close to the tropical year – that of equinoxes and seasons. The sidereal year – that of Earth’s orbit relative to the stars – drifts constantly due to axial precession. Hence the first point of Aries, the location of the vernal equinox, has since drifted to Pisces, and nobody cares to correct that because seasons are more useful.
Most astrologists haven’t kept up either but that’s just because they’re ignorant.

status Oh fuck no.
Work is delivering my new laptop via UPS on Monday. I'm on PTO, so I try changing the delivery date. "We may charge you $9.99 if the change is made."
Oh fuck no, I'm not paying you shit!
Guess I'll make sure I don't pre-sign (on the website) and hope they don't just leave it at the door...
-
@dcon The one time it would probably be useful if it made a little side-trip through Bumfuck County, Nowhere, AZ, it will arrive exactly on time

For things like that, I just pre-sign on the website. "Yeah, just leave it at the door. Whatever..."

Of course, that means it will arrive early. And they'll leave it without getting a signature. And it will quickly disappear into the trunk of the car that is following the UPS van around the neighborhood.

Status: Instead of being pissed off about other software as usual, I'm currently pissed off about our own software. And not because I just had to look at some code but because I'm actually using it myself. I feel the urge to strangle who did this. I know who it was, even though he's already left, and I can tell from how it behaves what he did wrong. It's giving me vibes.
Guess I'll just have to fix it myself before I go nuts.Tracked it down, fixed it. Also, the code gave me a serious headache so I did some refactoring and filed 2 other bug tickets and one feature request to it. One of those was something that's always slightly bothered me but I never realized is actually a bug (because I didn't think about it). And the other one was something that was correct when above mentioned cow-orker originally wrote it, but then another one broke it when they "fixed" a compiler warning.
Originally:
virtual void showEvent(QShowEvent *e);
gave a warning because the parameter
e
was unused. So they "fixed" it to:virtual void showEvent(QShowEvent);
Changing the signature and introducing a shadowing overload instead of the override. How did you not notice this?!
I fixed that too and slapped the
override
keyword in there.
-
@topspin said in The Official Status Thread:

And that's just one of the reasons why putting

Load it from disk next time, instead of an in-memory blob. That way you have some fucking idea of its identity without having to parse it.

WPF, probably because of the databinding features. You'll need a copy of Mono with Moonlight support.

This assumes I am doing the loading. It's buried four libraries in, and apparently stems from one library being built on x64 (like I said) yet the main app being built in x86 (because Any CPU is fucking retarded and why didn't Visual Studio create the appropriate profiles when I created the project that had the needfuls for everything else OMGWTFBBQ!)

Status: Annoyed.
Convention troupe is now down to two, from the original five or six, so this is going to cost an arm and a leg. But also, my friend that backed out very early (early enough that I can't be mad) told me yesterday he read the J&J shot doesn't work well on the delta variant. Wouldn't that be my luck, to go the the convention in spite of everything and catch this stupid flu in spite of taking a non-mandatory shot...

Status: Having been largely successful in moving one .Net app to Mono. I am now attempting the more ugly one that is WPF abusing.
You know that MVVVVVC thing that's supposed to help separate concerns of the model and the business logic or whatever? Yeah, fucking isn't happening here, whatsoever.
At least I only have 67 errors at the moment after shoving most of the classes that shouldn't really need to be in the Presentation layer into its own project. Most of these errors are "You're trying to use App Settings in a Library project ohno!"
It remains to be seen if it actually still works once I shift out configuration loading back into the app settings in some kind of bridge...

@PotatoEngineer Meh. I only put oil in mine when the blades start getting warm. The oilier it is, the harder it is to blow the hair out.
Oiling it every week is overkill. Specially if you don't use the razor every week.
I clean mine by running it in an isopropyl alcohol bath. When I remember. It ends up being once a month-ish. (I could have bought the more-expensive version of my razor that comes with alcohol packets and some automated cleaning action, but that sounded a lot more expensive than just buying a spare quart of isopropyl from time to time. And then I and hardly clean it.)
