I do not know how to spell it...
Especially because it's spelled "nauseated".
"Nauseous" is more akin to "Noxious" and means "causing nausea", not "experiencing nausea".

I think you're fighting a losing battle, just like "healthy" vs "healthful"

I got some not-so-subtle hints from my parents yesterday that they'd like a granddaughter.
My parents have somewhat given up since my younger sister had one a few years ago.
Still gotta make an heir at some point.
My dad was pleased that I had a son before he died. He had granddaughters and grandsons, but no grandsons from his sons, meaning nobody to carry on the family name into the next generation. Peer of me still hopes my daughter keeps her surname and my sons end up gay or childless

Survive the Internet from Party Pack 4 is pretty good.
Also Earwax from Party Pack 2.

I understand the sentiment against the family name nonsense, but it’s not necessarily the best fate to wish for.

Not nearly as bad as I expected. 1 or 2 before 11:30. A couple more. The expected crescendo at midnight. And quiet about 1/2h later. Thankfully, only one of those ones that makes homes shake. No freaked dogs, tho the youngun did need some reassuring a couple times.

I do believe there is something in that cocoa other than marshmallows.
-
@dcon Water, milk, sugar, vanilla extract and, per the instructions on the cocoa package, a dash of salt. And whatever strange chemicals are in the marshmallows. And in me. I do not need the addition of chemicals to behave strangely; my strange behavior is intrinsic.

I posted to the status thread about three weeks late. I'm out of baklava. I managed to offload 4 pieces to a friend, but otherwise, it was about a piece a day, and it was pretty soggy by the last piece. And, for some reason, I stopped losing weight. I can't imagine why that happened.
-
@PotatoEngineer I can’t imagine someone with the willpower to eat just one piece a day having much weight troubles.

Also Earwax from Party Pack 2.I found Earwax to be pretty meh, but I'm playing with my coworkers over the internet, not my friends in a living room. It really changes the tone. I've really liked Fibbage and Quiplash; they work well even with the family filter turned on, and even better with it turned off. (I also like Dictionarium, but it was a flop with my coworkers.)

Let me tell you about my diet! Everyone likes hearing about those, right!?
(It really is just willpower: I have no exact plan, but I'm forcing myself to take smaller servings (partly by using smaller plates), getting protein-y snacks instead of sugar-y snacks, and allowing myself to not eat if I'm not hungry, even if my wife is eating a meal. My main problems have been eating too much at meals, and eating when I'm not hungry just so I can have lunch with my wife. I still have late-night snacks sometimes if it turns out I didn't eat enough dinner.)

That's pretty much applicable to all of the Jackbox games.

There's one of the modes in the newer Fibbage that sucks and one that's great, but I can never remember which way around it is.
Quiplash is always good, I like the changes to the final round in Quiplash 3.

Quiplash is always good, I like the changes to the final round in Quiplash 3.I've been playing a lot of Zeeple Dome with my coworkers lately, but that's mostly because I keep getting low turnouts – there are two people who show up consistently, and then maybe 1 or 2 others occasionally. And the only thing that works with 3-4 players is Zeeple Dome and trivia. (And I'm rather good at trivia; partly because I'm older than most of the other players, and partly because the non-American coworkers are missing out on all of the cultural questions. Since I don't want to trounce my coworkers every time, we do more Zeeple.)
I've also been playing Among Us, but social-deduction games really aren't my favorite. Lying to my coworkers for Fibbage points? Good fun, we're all lying together. Lying to my coworkers about being The Impostor? Not nearly as fun, for me. I just find it stressful more than fun.

Among Us with the hide & seek rules makes it fun if you're not into that side of it.
-
@loopback0 What are these hide and seek rules you speak of?
-
-
@PotatoEngineer mostly informal rules. The game starts by the impostor revealing themselves and someone calling emergency meeting. Then the impostor counts to 15 and starts murdering. The crew still have to finish tasks, but are forbidden from reporting bodies or calling emergency meeting. Also, accessing cameras is banned for either side, and impostors can't vent. As for actual game settings, crew visibility 2x, impostor visibility 0.25x, kill cooldown as low as possible, walk speed 2-3x.

Status: Yay! The Premiere Elements DVD arrived. The DVD case was wrapped in a padded envelope placed inside a Priority Mail box wrapped in another padded envelope to trick the post office into allowing it through Media Mail.
So now I was looking for some blank DVD cases for when I start burning copies of various discs (those that aren't still eluding me anyway) and it's another tragedy of e-commerce. It seems like I can only buy in lots of 50 (dual) or 100 (single), at 25 cents a piece, with $30 shipping charges attached.

Yeah, the 25 or 10 packs are literally more expensive despite the same disc inside.... I guess they just gave up?
-
@Tsaukpaetra This is just for the cases. I have the discs already (archival grade supposedly) but I hate the jewel cases they came in because they crack like crazy.
-
@Zenith Jewel cases are horrible. Does anyone still make those slim CD cases with the softer frosted plastic from the mid 2000s? IIRC those were great, nice and compact and they didn't break if you looked at them wrong
-
Status: It's stupid that the Amaray DVD case is made in the US but the only places I can find to buy them are in the UK.

Been there, done that. Got sad at discovering my archival discs were less reliable than the shit discs, apparently.

I've already set aside my old diskettes for binning. There's a single disk in there which might still hold the only surviving copies of my very first QBasic programs, but I don't own a drive anymore and I'm not attached enough to find one. Plus I have no clue if those disks still hold their contents after 25 years.

I did that around 2006, about three years after no longer owning a floppy drive.
-

@Zenith Apparently some places in the US will sell them but only as part of their disc duplication services.

I do have floppy disk drives and I'm terrified to touch old disks now because there used to be a problem with some combination of OS and drives actually corrupting the FAT on disks while reading them. I'd love to take a look at my Pascal version of Hangman again (you could change the color of the text and hang Smurfs or Orions if you had a grudge against them for some reason).

Why is generating a self-signed cert from the CLI such an enormous pain in the ass?
