@Vixen Platform shoes? I think you'll find they're widely available.

Obviously it was completely accidental and unintentional. You didn't really want to do that.

What I really want is something that works with the ubiquitous USB chargers that can be found everywhere nowadays, but I guess the power draw of a laptop battery is too much for those tiny things.
Why not do it the other way around? You can easily convert the laptop charger's output to USB.
Why not, but I don't see the point. Well, not true, I see what you mean (the laptop charger could then charge my phone etc.), but that's still a charger that is much larger than the standard USB chargers, and also many places have built-in USB chargers. They might be crap, but if it's an hotel where I'm just staying for the night and just want to give my stuff a boost of charge (because they usually last at least 2 days, but sometimes it's a bit short while travelling).
The advantage of the USB charger is that nowadays, this has finally become an almost-standard (there's still microUSB vs. USB-C, and weirdos like Apple) for small size electronics (or even electrical without electronics but a battery, such as a travel alarm clock etc.), meaning that anywhere you go you can borrow a charger from anyone and it'll work. It would be nice if laptops also worked that way.

what you want then is a laptop, and accessories, that are powered via USB-C then you just bring one USB-C charger and it charges everything.
Yes! That is the thing I am looking for (well not really "looking for", that's not in my requirement list, but it would be nice to have it).
Looking on the intarwebz gives me mixed signals. Sounds like some Dell Precision can actually charge through USB-C, although it's not really officially supported, and it may or may not work, with the system reporting sometimes conflicting information (e.g. Windows saying the charger isn't powerful enough, but it actually working...). See for example this page that has some details:
Then I need to actually get a powerful enough charger (at least 60 W or so, depending on pages and the actual requirement of the laptop I'll have), and then I'm somewhat back to what @acrow was suggesting above, i.e. use the laptop charger as my main USB charger for everything. That is, if I can find one that is compact enough for this setup to be convenient, but that doesn't seem to be a huge issue, from a quick search.
So there is some hope after all...

The laptop will likely come with one - the Dells we have at work do.
-
@loopback0 OTOH @Gąska said that the charger of Precisions was heavy as hell (and that matches what I've seen around me), so I expect that the laptop will come with a huge brick, that does not work in USB-C, and that if I want to use USB-C then I'm on my own and I need to buy another charger (and then I'll search for a smaller one).

I meant they come with USB-C chargers. They seem normal size.
edit: ah - ours aren't Precisions though. I think massive chargers is par for the course with a mobile workstation. Just get a normal laptop.

Status: Tested my cat to see if she's still spreading a virus. She sadly is, meaning I can't get any other cats, as it not good to spread the virus. The virus itself does pretty much nothing, but it can mutate into a terminal disease without any cure which is obviously bad. A shame, because I want more cats.

I wonder if @error’s active shooter training indicates if shooting up the office is an acceptable reaction to premature enChristmasation

I have also had such training this year, and I live in Sweden. Also for an education setting which is slightly worse if it'd happen to.
-
@Atazhaia Somehow, I'd consider it slightly more likely that we'd get training on how to deal with unauthorised production of nitrogen or carbon dioxide at the work place, than on shooter response.

Our server rooms are equipped with nitrogen-based automatic fire suppression, so I guess for the IT folks that would be more useful than any kind of shooter training.

It was hard to type while running. She had several identical visible ~1.5in diameter, perfectly circular, purplish welts on her back and shoulders. It's very distinctive; I've never seen anything else produce such marks.
I wanted to comment but couldn't figure out how not to make it creepy.
