@Jarry this is what prompted the aforementioned suggestion - if we're gonna do JSON-over-XML, why not go full retard and do XML-over-JSON-over-XML.
-
@Arantor Is it possible to go past full retard? If so, I propose YAMLXMLJSONXML
-
@RaceProUK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAKG-kbKeIo is the only cromulent reaction to that.

@anotherusername You win the thread.

I know DOS'ing is bad. But this time at least it hit the right guys.
-
@rhywden that belongs in the good ideas thread. A DOS is neither good nor bad. It's a tool; a weapon of sorts. What makes its use good or bad is the reason it's used and the target it's used against.
Also, it's a good example of why our phone systems are completely fucked and in desperate need of a redesign; undetectable phone number spoofing should simply not be possible. It should be a simple matter of about 5 minutes for the telcos to get scammer's numbers shut down permanently, and a few hours and security clearances more to have a laser-guided bomb delivered through the window nearest to their desk...

A forum spam bot that starts by posting either recycled posts from years ago or some form of markov chain tomfoolery and gradually sneaks in more spam links over time.
A forum spam bot that posts politically charged spam links in the trolleybus garage.
A forum spam bot that posts sponsored music videos in the song of the day thread.
A forum spam bot that sends private messages to the admins asking for tech support because it can't post on the forum and then dumps a bunch of spam when the admins give up trying to help.
A forum spam bot that deletes its own posts 90% of the time but not 100% of the time.
A forum spam bot that sets its display name to "BANNED" so the admins don't think they need to do anything.
A forum spam bot that registers using a Unicode-based spoof of an existing user's name.
A forum spam bot that copies topics from a different forum in the same category of websites except it changes the links to go through one of those ad-redirect things.

A forum spam not that just wants to be human.

Which of those has not been done by our users?

@boomzilla And because I can't go a day here without annoying people by mentioning either Lisp, Whateley Academy, or shoujo rom-com anime:
Jobe and Belphoebe's Topless Elf Car Wash
Of course, they didn't count on Peeper...
Or did they?
(Not that Greasy seems to mind.)

@boner I scared friends and family with a similar video once. I was walking around on a lake which had the thick layer of winter ice, then a layer of sludge and on top of that a thin layer of ice. So walking around on it the ice would crack in impressive ways, but going through it you'd just step in the ~10cm of sludge, with no risk of actually going down into the lake.
So I filmed myself walking on the ice far out on the middle of the lake, it all cracking under my feet, then posted on FB commenting on my nice, relaxing winter walk. Cue shocked posts from scared family members. :P

Now that cryptocurrencies are in the public spotlight and "blockchain" has become a buzzword that every manager knows:
Create and sell your own "something-coin", touting it as 1000x faster and better than bitcoin because of its awesome futuristic transaction-processing technology that is even better than the blockchain.
...which in reality consists of a single centralized server with a big SQL database of transactions and balances.
I mean, you would technically be telling the truth. And most people don't care enough to read past the marketing materials.

@boomzilla "Albino broccoli". Nice.

I like cauliflower too but as a substitute for rice or potatoes not the meat.

They do, but they look more like some kind of westernized Chinese food.

@boomzilla Not even mad. If you put something in wing sauce I will eat it.
-
@pie_flavor as it turns out, putting wing sauce on your dick is not a good idea.

Well if it's spicy you can counter it with ranch to cool it down.
-
@tsaukpaetra but... does @pie_flavor like ranch sauce?

@anotherusername Ranch dressing as wing dip? Hell no. Blue cheese dressing is the only way to go.
