I could fork a public domain version of the bible on github, so Christianism will be open source, and everyone can make their own changes on it.

That would be an interesting experiment.

m. They should have picked a language with POCO objects or maybe structs.
It was C#, so there were structs. Based on other things I've seen, this is about the level at which they start to fall apart--the old version of the function was removed, which might actually have been reasonable. But then they also did stuff like change the signing key they used on some small number of assemblies, which caused me no end of trouble.

@blakeyrat said in 😈 The Evil Ideas thread:
I know it was. You said so the first time.
Well, then I am at a loss to understand why you suggested they use a language that had a feature the language they used had.

@CarrieVS I clicked it twice, and trees from the Lorax took over my browser. I take it that was supposed to happen?
edit: they really only seem to reproduce while the mouse is hovering over one of them.

@anotherusername Indeed. The trigger is actually onmouseout (or on clicking the link again).

This now correctly outputs Arg1Arg2Arg3DefaultValue.
I wouldn't take as a given that
out
params behave the same way in your test that regular params do. They might. But I wouldn't just blithely assume they do.Good observation. I hadn't considered out parameters.
The aim was to make the code support optional parameters, to ensure you don't have to modify the code for changes that you'd not normally need to modify regular code for. It's usually a non breaking change to add an optional parameter with a sensible default, it's a slight shame that the implementational details of optional parameters bleeds through when you're using reflection, but it's necessary.

Try to write creative wtfs at code, to beat the boredom out of work.

@fbmac I'm using VBScript to automate taking numbers from certain emails that I get daily and putting them into a spreadsheet so I don't have to do it manually.
This requires a VBScript that connects to both Outlook and Excel, and an Outlook filter to execute it whenever those emails arrive. It gets the unread email, gets the numbers, puts them in Excel (adding rows and filling down from the row above as necessary), and marks the email read.
And just for bonus WTF, it requires the Excel workbook to actually be open (because it usually is open). If the workbook isn't open, it just silently exits without doing anything (because I don't feel like trying to make it open, modify, save, and close the workbook if it isn't already open).

The scandal, in which management software detected when cars using the EA 189 motor were undergoing an emission test and put the engines into a low-emission mode, has already cost VW boss Martin Winterkorn his job, leaving him struggling with a €3.2 million severance payment and a €1 million annual pension. ®
That's just cruel.

there's a reason i remaped that key to press F16 instead, and use autohotkey to intercept that key and present a warning message box to the person wh0 dared hit my F1(6) key

I honestly don't know what other kind of answer you expect to see.
<user> is unfriendly, and disliked by many, but considered entertaining by many as well.
<community> bans user.
<user2> talks about wanting beating people to deathWhat is your opinion on what <community> should do here with <user2>? Do you think it is acceptable to ban <user> from their community for being disliked by a subset of it?
-
@Magus I'm not "<community>". Nothing qualifies me to give an opinion.
-
@blakeyrat You are a human. Humans contain something called 'empathy' which allows them to understand other people. You can't so much as have a conversation without some rudimentary version of it. If you have this, you can answer the question.
-
@Magus I can say what I'd do if I ran the world, but you're asking what someone else should do, and I can't answer that.
-
@blakeyrat Fine, you win, empathy is for lusers.
-
@Magus
TBH, I don't think I have a qualified enough opinion to give, either.Am I also a now?

@boomzilla Hmm, so medium links are one of the things that our IT has broken the header on so the onebox is empty and my browser tries to drive-by download something.
At least now I know where some of these are coming from now.

@boomzilla It's called Medium because it's neither rare nor well-done.
