Surely it stands for User Abusability Testing in this instance?

There's a lot to be bothered by in Discourse, but none of that makes me hot as well.

And TIL
abusability ~= arousability

The round avatar fiasco is a sign they need business analysts and UI specialists.
You guys keep calling this a fiasco. I call it awesome-sauce.
Picking on duckwhores' deficiencies is the only reason I keep coming back. I mean it sure as hell isn't because I like reading what you lot have to say.
-
What I'm finding is that duckwhores' enabling of instant gratification spam has caused a metric shitton of spam. Threads that would have had 5 posts and died keep turning into a multi-thousand post streams of never ending 1 liners.
-
Indeed.

That's an overly simplistic analysis. You are dismissing the lolcats and memes that help to inflate the postcount as well.
-
I'm counting those as 1 liners and spam.
Not at all hypocritical that they set a 20 character minimum to try to prevent that sort of shenanigans when Jeff himself is one of the worst about posting random lolcats and memes.... The limit would probably be bigger if he weren't worried that the randomly generated image filename/url would be too small to make empty meme posts.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if those limits don't apply to staff.

You know what I'd like to see rate limited? Jeffishness.
-
I'd love to see someone post a topic to meta.d suggesting that they rate limit PRs and UI updates.
-
We're sorry, but you've hit your limit of "[CLOSED: WONTFIXYOUREDOINGITWRONG]" for today. Please come back sometime within the next 12-48 hours and try again
-
Every time I log into meta.d after making a post about something, I expect to see the green notification of "you got jeffed."
-
You know what's always nice, a good old dose of developer sarcasm to round of your experience of buggy frustration.
Nothing like being reminded that you're the piece of shit for even trying to make sense of what's broken by incompetence and what's broken by design.

Here's the thing, anyone can write shitty software. If you really want to stand out from the crowd, why not write shitty software while being an asshole about it?
-
Apparently this software represents at least three years of work.
-
That means we only have 7 years left before it stops working!
-
Oh, shoot, I thought we only had to wait 7 more years for it to start working.
-
It's Dischorse - they're probably the same event.
-
People keep making sentences with the words "Discourse" and "working" in them...
-
Usually the word
not
is found between them… ;)
-
That's what's bothering me about it...
-
I feel like reviving this topic. It still loads in under 2 seconds and that disappoints me.

Be patient. Though small now, I have a sense that it will be long before this thread truly dies[1]. It will grow more organically than t/1000
[1] It will probably live until the next great forum migration.

Or if @■■■■■■■■■■■■ Belgium's it out of existence without anyone noticing…
-
Then we would just need to start a new instance using one of @shadowmod's backups.
And such an occurrence would surely encourage this thread to grow.
-
@ben_lubar @■■■■■■■■■■■■
Nope, I'm safe.
-
And to think, it's only been about a year since dischorse was installed and let loose on TDWTF.
In 9 more years (dischorse is built for the 10 year FEWTCHUR!), how many topics will we have that crash dischorse when read/replied?Hell I wholly expect the main topic list to implode dischorse when we get to over 40,000 topics, much the same way ~40,000 posts kills a topic. I imagine every single new topic created has to read every other topic to re-build the forum stats too, right?

damn you damn the new rage icon too. there, that's better.

ZERO CONFIDENCE.
Some bugs are completely ridiculous.
--- <hr> <hr/>
SHOULD BE THE SAME FUCKING THING.
-
ZERO CONFIDENCE.
For me it's:
- The constant bikeshedding.
- The opinion that "it can be reverted with custom CSS" is an acceptable excuse for constantly forcing a change in the default style set upon established forums.
- Apparently the following condition is true:
discoDev.Opinion.Weight > discoUser.Opinion.Weight
- As a corollary to the above, users at WTDWTF aren't "real" users, so the following is true:
if (discoUser.HomeForum == "what.thedailywtf.com") { discoUser.Opinion.Weight = 0; }
- Stupid ass bugs that should never exist in the first belgium place. [Exhibit 1]
-
That's all nice and good, but I can't get over how so many things that just completely make me go WTF happen.
How can
<hr>
and<hr/>
both break oneboxes but with one giving you a garbage post and the other one giving you an Error? How can discourse lie about success/failure of an administrative action?!
There are so many fundamentally wrong things with this.
Jeff not getting it and constant bikeshedding are quite a bit behind these on my personal list.

Oh, I wasn't posting those in any particular order.
How can <hr> and <hr/> both break oneboxes but with one giving you a garbage post and the other one giving you an Error?
You know the answer.
How can discourse lie about success/failure of an administrative action?!
Discoursistency.

Yes.
As I have stated before, I want to write a replacement/competitor for Discourse, I just don't have the time or resources to do so. If I were given a several hundred thousand dollars tomorrow, I would invest it, quit my job, and start working on a Discourse killer.

I couldn't write up a slick enough proposal to get $50 out of kickstarter.

I just want to post +1 because I am apparently the only person who liked this post even though there is so much truth in it!

For me it's …
Ok, I just noticed something in the formatting of that post that's aggravating my CDO. Why the frack is the code block (not the inline code) 3pt smaller than the rest of the text in the post? It is visibly noticeable, and for what purpose?
##Why?

I've always wondered about that. Does it mean if I flag for spam the message won't be removed?
