I think you'll find that it's cheaper to air-freight in this case, unless you can make up a unit load with more Boomzillas.

If there are enough Boomzillas to qualify for bulk shipping, and they all begin to post more prog-rock nonsense... then I will have no choice except to take that slow boat myself...
But if I have no choice, then I have chosen, but I had no...

Somebody is much, much too fond of video transition FX.

Would Discussed even allow just a +1 or ACK in a post? +(glyph) sure but +1 without any of our typical abuses? Is it even civilised?

Not anymore. I recently moved to a 2nd floor appartment. I do have a balcony though. I could astroturf it to make @boomzilla feel at home.

I was finally catching up with this topic and found this posted on 2014-05-22:
@mott555 said:Has anyone stopped to consider that Alex and Jeff are just trolling us? Trying to see how riled up they can get us? And at some point they'll stop snickering and say "Just kidding, here's a bunch of bug fixes and normal forum navigation. We just wanted to see what you guys would do if we gave you something worse than Community Server."
One year later and Discourse is still a joke...
-
Sadly it's not a very funny one...

@Boomzilla is returning to my good graces...

I moved 17 posts to an existing topic because I made my point: Poll: Are polls broken?

Given events of yesterday, I must reaffirm my vote of NO CONFIDENCE.
When you accuse someone of arguing for requesting more information, and then ban them for politely stating that they weren't arguing, you're out of control.
-
I just wanted to tell @blakeyrat that I really really appreciate his mirror of the old forums.
Being able to have a working search for old posts is super-useful.
-
Thank you.
It looks like nobody's noticed yet that I've replaced every 13th word with "fungal".
-
You're a fun guy.
-
It looks like nobody's noticed yet that I've replaced every 13th word with "fungal".
With some of the threads, it wouldn't be noticeable anyway.
-
Good work on the long topic titles, everyone.
-
BELGIUM YES!I cast my vote of NO confidence for ruining my mobile reading experience. If I drag to scroll and let go, I DON'T WANT MY PAGE JUMPING UP AND DOWN EVERY 3 SECONDS!
I was just reading The Drivers License Thread, and with just 60 posts there is no excuse that the topic is too long. Why the thread has to rerender or find its position again is beyond me.
-
If I drag to scroll and let go, I DON'T WANT MY PAGE JUMPING UP AND DOWN EVERY 3 SECONDS!
I thought that was a part of the experience for everyone. After all, who doesn't want to jump 50 messages back just because they Like the current message?!
-
You never see a bug report about it, though. It's like we've just accepted that it's a core part of the Discourse experience and isn't worth even mentioning
-
I tend to serial like in certain topics outside of /t/1000 and never had that happen, but I guess @wood's response would be that we're abusing likes so the argument is invalid.
In this case I was talking about passive reading though, and seeing how reading is part of civilized discourse I would say their core feature is broken with the page jumping around like that.
-
Not just likes. Clicking anything (sometimes even just in an empty part of the page) can cause a jump, as can someone else posting or liking so the display changes
-
You never see a bug report about it, though. It's like we've just accepted that it's a core part of the Discourse experience and isn't worth even mentioning
No, it's more like we reported it and it was summarily dismissed as "NO_REPRO, WORKS_FOR_JEFF".
-
If I drag to scroll and let go, I DON'T WANT MY PAGE JUMPING UP AND DOWN EVERY 3 SECONDS!
dont' even TRY to open shit in background tabs on mobile (dolphin browser)... then it renders in the background at about 1pixel wide, fscking up the positioning so that when you switch it to the active tab and it re-renders at the real width, your position in the topic is completely jacked and it jumps up and down until you touch the screen to scroll.
-
Just stopping by to renew my vote of no confidence.
-
I tend to serial like in certain topics outside of /t/1000 and never had that happen, but I guess @wood's response would be that we're abusing likes so the argument is invalid.
Yes, you're correct - you are abusing likes. And posting. And sharing. And messaging. In fact, you're abusing Discourse.
-
In fact, you're abusing Discourse.
Yes, and we like it that way. Since using Discourse is abuse, it's only fair that we abuse it in return.
-
Well, I guess I have no choice but to make Discourse more abusey then
-
well since this topic has been necromanced I guess i should register my reaffirmation of confidence. After all if it weren't for discourse SockBot, and by extension SockDrawer would not exist.
-
Still not confident - try using the D key ...
-
-
Oh god.
I just pressed the d key for a few seconds!
-
After all if it weren't for discourse SockBot, and by extension SockDrawer would not exist.
And SockBot existing is desirable because...?
Yah! You wrote an annoying thing! It plugs into this other annoying thing! It's a dumb hobby project that you take way too seriously! This is obviously a good thing.
-
I just pressed the d key for a few seconds!
There's apparently no hotkey for undelete...
-
And SockBot existing is desirable because...?
Because I and the other members of SockDrawer have derived entertainment from it.
Additionally others on this forum have derived entertainment from the project.
We regret that you have not derived entertainment from the project, while at the same time we wish to respectfully point out that the lack of your enjoyment in the project does not invalidate the project as being valuable.
-
Because I and the other members of SockDrawer have derived entertainment from it.
Goddamned. I thought my life was pathetic.
"Wow! I wrote unit tests for shitty Node.js code! I AM SO ENTERTAINED RIGHT NOW!!! Why does Las Vegas even exist when people could just write Node.js unit tests!??!?!?"
-
Actually .... if I tap the d, it flips right back.
If I hold it, discourse's front-end gets overly stimulated and stays in the wrong state.
-
I'd expect that for you since you only have permission to delete your own posts.
-
Which means d does the exactly wrong thing for TL4s!
-
Goddamned. I thought my life was pathetic.
I regret that this is your assessment of your own life.
I wrote unit tests for shitty Node.js code!
This is a thing that I have done, for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the entertainment value. Among the other reasons are such reasons as learning about unit testing practices, experimenting with code design to facilitate unit testing, and improving maintainability of the tested code.I AM SO ENTERTAINED RIGHT NOW!!!
it was quite entertaining indeed. Why does Las Vegas even exist when people could just write Node.js unit tests!??!?!?"
why does las vegas exist anyway? it's too damn hot 11 months out of the year and too damn crowded the remaining month.
-
the lack of your enjoyment in the project does not invalidate the project as being valuable.
YMBNH™

why does las vegas exist anyway?
Hydropower and organized crime.

Liar.

Good. You have testable and maintainable code. That only works with a single broken piece of shit forum software, and does nothing but irritating bullshit.
why does las vegas exist anyway?
Whores.
Why do you post in my threads anyway?
-
the lack of your enjoyment in the project does not invalidate the project as being valuable.
If it did, then no project has ever been valuable, AFAICT from his rants here. Except Mac Classic, I guess.
-
Oh, that's different. I clicked to see who had liked one of my posts, and was jellypotatoed. But instead of being jellypotatoed to some random point earlier in the topic, Discourse jumped to the end of the thread. At least this is the right topic for it to behave weirdly.
Filed under: Discourse — even its inconsistent behavior is inconsistent.
-
Liar.
No, no i am not, i regret that you feel this way and wish to reiterate my dislike of that term being applied to me when it is not true. I would greatly appreciate it if you would cease using that word when it is factually inaccurate.
Good.
i am glad you approve of my efforts. That only works with a single broken piece of shit forum software
I will have to respectfully disagree with you on the description of Discourseand does nothing but irritating bullshit.
I will have to respectfully disagree with you on the description of SockBot and derivativesWhores.
What? the local ones aren't enough? Why do you post in my threads anyway?
Because i like to believe that you are not the complete and utter arsehole your online persona pretends to be.It may not be true, but it is what i like to believe
If it did, then no project has ever been valuable, AFAICT from his rants here.
Then we are lucky indeed that that is not the case, no?.
-
No, no i am not, i regret that you feel this way and wish to reiterate my dislike of that term being applied to me when it is not true. I would greatly appreciate it if you would cease using that word when it is factually inaccurate.
The correct solution to this problem is to not give a fuck what I think.
What? the local ones aren't enough?
The "local" ones (unless you live in Nevada) will get you arrested.
Because i like to believe that you are not the complete and utter arsehole your online persona pretends to be.
It may not be true, but it is what i like to believe
Just don't wave your arms around and scream, "mods! Mods! Blakeyrat is using mean words! That, defying all laws of physics, somehow harm me via photons transmitted over the Internets!!!" and you can post where ever you want.
But, uh. We both know that's not going to happen. I bet I get mod warnings for this very post.
-

Huh? I didn't know our mods were that awful.
