🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD

On the topic of "what were the manufacturers smoking, food edition", I present this picture I took in a local store. They had cases.
Let that sink in. And then, imagine adding milk.

Why would I imagine spoiling perfectly good cereal with milk?
Is that why I don't get the issue with this particular box?
-
-
@Benjamin-Hall I wouldn't expect them to taste substantially different from fruit loops.

Nothing can improve the taste of tea
A good filter does fairly well.

Also, if you're suffering from diabetes and your sugar is too low, there is nothing better to bring back your sugar level than a glass of maple syrup
Heard from a paramedic: person calling 112 was told to improvise some sugar paste and put it on the side of victim's mouth. When arriving on location, medical staff saw victim had sugar paste spread over the outside of victim's cheek.

Osmosis, don'tcha know?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Except that would only make the problem worse as it would pull water out of the victim's cheek to the sugar, rather than getting the sugar in the victim's blood stream.

I never claimed it had the desired effect. ;)

If the 112 dispatcher literally said "on the side of victim's mouth" then that is entirely their own fault for not explaining it clearly.

@kazitor said in Random thought of the day:
There should be semicolon and ellipsis variants of exclamation and question marks.
You see "…?" a fair bit, but imagine if that were the top part of the question mark above the middle of "…"
And the reason I had this thought is because I saw "Who knows, certainly not us." There needs to be a question-semicolon (semiqueston?) replacing that comma.
May I suggest C++-style operator overloading for English grammar ?_?

Oh, yeah, he did an episode from near where I live, presenting the place as "A swedish village with an unpronounceable name".
Norrfällsviken, in case anyone wants to try pronouncing it themselves.

They did not literally say that because they weren't speaking English.
The person telling the story said "cheek", which I figured in English sort of implies "outside", but maybe it doesn't.

To be fair, I imagine there wasn't much else to entertain themselves while being captive.

It's possible...I can tolerate guacamole with small amounts but much Mexican food in NYC is saturated with it. Which makes me sad because I like Mexican food.

@PleegWat Using these two options together sounds like Fun, in the Dwarf Fortress sense.
EDIT: It's telling that about half of the program is about correcting invalid git syntax, and I don't see even a single entry for Subversion.

So I have a street-legal dirt bike, and my sister has a road cruiser but wants to get a dirt bike someday, too. So I constantly tease her about just taking her Honda Shadow offroad and seeing how it does.
And I guess someone did this once. This entire video is a Bad Idea. I love the creek crossing part at around 3 minutes.

@mott555 said in 🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD:

With proper tires, it shouldn't be too bad.
-
@TimeBandit It would only be less bad. For the kind of stuff in that video, a Shadow is way too heavy (by double or even triple), geared way too high (for comparison, a Shadow's first gear is about like my CRF's third or fourth gear), and the suspension travel is way too low.
Some rough dry dirt roads without any major inclines would be passable though. You'd burn out the clutch in short order if you had to feather it to climb hills and gulleys at <5 mph though.
