🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD

Worse idea: responding to a complaint of a data breach from said rich and famous person with the word "pictures".
It was the rich and famous person asking for pictures, so she could identify the driver.
-
-
-
Hmm... the more I stare at this tweet the more confused I get. By the contents of the tweet, I assumed she had sent a huge three-part text and got back the word "Pictures", but the article seems to support the opposite reading as well, but then what the fuck is she complaining about in the tweet?
-
She wanted pictures of the delivery guy for some reason.
-
So if she's on the right WTF is she complaining about?
I've changed my mind. Worse idea is Iggy Azalea.
-
JPEGs, no doubt.
-
As I read it, the supervisor's response to her complaint was, "Pictures."
She also wanted to pick the driver out of a lineup of pictures so the guy could be fired / punished / publicly shamed / whatever.
I've changed my mind. Worse idea is Iggy Azalea.
I don't know much of anything about her (if I've heard any songs of hers, I didn't know they were her) but I'm aware that she's a celebrity, and I don't see any terrible behavior here by her.

Since this was playing on Pandora when I read your post, and it's kind of inappropriate:
Could be worse.

The weird new thing Chrome does on Android 5 where each "tab" shows in a different window, as if it were a different app.
They literally uninvented tabs. We're back in the days of IE6 and one window per page.

LD50? Still a good chance it would kill someone
Oh I don't know, it'd probably be 50/50 at best.

I have not read the link, but my brain instantly provided this explanation:

I had never listened to her music...holy fuck that is atrocious. -shudder-
-
Oh I don't know, it'd probably be 50/50 at best.
Chance of killing at least one person = 1 - (chance everybody survives)
if it's 10% less than LD50 (the dose at which a person has a 50% chance of survival), it seems safe to assume that the odds are 45% that any one person will be killed, therefore chance that 10% less than LD50 kills a given person is 0.55.
I think there were 5 people in the Futurama scene, so the chance everybody survives is 0.555 = 0.0503
Therefore the chance of killing someone is 1 - 0.0503 = 0.9497, or 94%

The weird new thing Chrome does on Android 5 where each "tab" shows in a different window, as if it were a different app.
I installed Opera on my phone just because of this. Extra bonus for me: since I installed Android 5 on my old Galaxy S3 mini I don't even have the "recent" button that would take me to the tab list, I had to hold home.
Now, I know, S3 wasn't intended for Android 5, but still...

You can turn that off in settings. That was a stupid idea on their part...

She's also written Fancy, which was parodied by Weird Al as "Tacky", which is pretty hilarious. The Weird Al song, that is.
-

Probabilities don't work like that—each event is independently 50/50. Guy #5 can't say to himself "Ah good, guys #2 and #4 both died; now my chance to survive is that much higher." He still has a 50% chance of dying.

On this site? :shocked_face.bat:

Not saying that Weird Al doesn't also parody "Fancy" (I don't know), but "Tacky" parodies Pharrell's "Happy".Ok, just watched "Fancy" (thanks for that btw) and "tacky" is definitely something that comes to mind.

The weird new thing Chrome does on Android 5 where each "tab" shows in a different window, as if it were a different app.
Yeah, I had to switch it off within the first day of trying it.
I tried to give it a chance, but it was a massive step backwards. Chrome was sitting windows into my recent apps and it made it in manageable.
I suspect that Google doesn't have any proper user acceptance stuff. If they do, they do a piss poor job.

One question:
Who the fuck are John and Ed and where did Karl and Josh run off to?

Windows 8 passed UAT. I don't believe in Users anymore.
well either:
- the users really did accept Windows 8 (possibly under the influence of the balmer peak)
or - the users acceptance testing windoes 8 really hate their coworkers.

I was reading that with "KARL" having the voice of Karl Pilkington of the "Ricky Gervais Show"/"An Idiot Abroad“...
-
Who the fuck are John and Ed and where did Karl and Josh run off to?
John and Ed are different reporters. That was part fo the transcript from the President's Press Secretary's daily press briefing.
Seriously, they hired a press secretary named: JOSH EARNEST. Satire is dead.

And that guy wants you to know that "global warming" is worse than ISIS, by which he specifically claims that the average person will feel worse effects in their day-to-day life from "global warming".)

Sadly, they don't have the authority to weed them out from the general populace. Yet.

So, either the flamebait was too strong or Tron reference was too subtle... interesting...

We took you seriously, but it's hardly a flamewar here. Try harder next time.

Try harder next time.
It was an obviously lame attempt. We already had that flamewar (twice? thrice?) anyway, I didn't expect it to take. I just wondered which part of the post is gonna get picked up first.
The results are not surprising, btw.

what the fuck is she complaining about in the tweet?
I think grey is the supervisor, green is she? I don't really know, they cut the top part of the three-parter off like noob journos. I was just going off what the article said.
-

oddly enough this would fall under option 1 in my two option system.
the influence of the balmer peak was optional. :-P

Unfortunately:
Inconsistencies aside, the site Injustice Stories was virtually unknown before the implausible story of Lana's abortion was published. That's probably because a domain lookup revealed the domain was registered on the same day Lana's story was posted.

So, then?

one asterisk short for a replacement on either of the prominent TDWTFers that i thought of when looking for replacements.

And that guy wants you to know that "global warming" is worse than ISIS, by which he specifically claims that the average person will feel worse effects in their day-to-day life from "global warming".)
So this is really hard to quantify for many reasons, and I'm going to ignore the whole "is global warming real?" thing because people can't be convinced when they don't want to be, but:
The chance of ISIS having any direct effect on you is approximately zero. They don't operate in your part of the world and most of the people you know and care about are not in ISIS's part of the world.
Global climate change (global warming is a bad name and you should feel bad for using it), should it occur, will cause weather patterns and rainfall to shift. Productive agricultural areas are at risk of becoming unproductive and vice versa. Places that are warm become cold (eg. Europe if the Gulf Stream stops), cold become warm. Coastal areas will be less desirable. Populations will shift, economies will experience disturbances. It will have a pretty profound effect on just about everything humans care about.
So if a person believes global climate change is likely, or even if they believe it is unlikely but possible, the statement is spot on.
Disclaimer: I have no idea who this clown is.
-
Global climate change , should it occur
Wake me up when it does. 18 years of no warming, as measured by satellite.
(global warming is a bad name and you should feel bad for using it)
You, and every other warmenista, are cordially invited to shut right the fuck up, because half of you haven't got the message and are still saying things that clearly indicate you think of it as global warming.
Edit: hanzo'd, but I don't actually mean that as applies to you.
