PSA Please do NOT strap your loved one’s power chairs to your hitch haulers with them still on it. Poor Marjorie was already terrified by the time we got her husband Fred to pull over after a solid 4 minutes of lights and sirens as he kept waving us to go around him. I know it can save time to leave your loved one strapped in their chair, but it is definitely not safe. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Poe or Noe is

Thank you for your attention to this matter.I'd wonder if that power chair isn't too heavy for that to begin with. A quick google suggests the very lightest, collapsible ones are 40kg, with regular ones quickly going over 100kg. Add the hauler, of course. The weight rating of a trailer hitch depends on the car it's on, but I've never heard of more than 75kg on a normal car (pickups may be different).
-
@PleegWat I've seen the chairs mounted that way before. So it's totally doable to just have the chair. But with the person, it would depend on her weight.

Her weight, via visual estimate, is “one in the elevator at once and no more”.

Based on the picture there's no way it's either Florida or Wisconsin.

The only interstate in Trempealeau County is I94, and it's only 2 lanes. But Wisconsin does have some mountains. Well, big enough so it takes a couple minutes to ski down...

Found this:
Those mountains in the background look taller than that. I suspect someone there found this amusing image and posted it with a funny PSA.

This is terribly funny, having spent a decade of my life living in a state whose lowest elevation is nearly 1000 feet above the highest point in Wisconsin.

Yeah, most of the ski areas have like a 200-300 vertical. The biggest was 700. We used to go up to Cascade Mountain a lot (day trips) - though I swear it was named something else way back when cause Cascade just doesn't sound right...

To me, it looks a lot like the Wasatch mountains as seen from the SLC, UT area, but I can't read the exit sign enough to find exactly where.

Is still a bad idea. Just not quite the one it looks like at first glance.
-
I may or may not have done something very similar to that.

@Dragoon As the driver or drivee?

As the one at the top of the ladder (I am not afraid of heights, my brother and father are)

@Dragoon Ah. Not the post I thought you were responding to. Never mind.

As interrupt handler. While drivers with devices were doing all the work, it took all the credit.

Black licorice is delicious!
And I have some Licorice Spice tea to prove it!
-
@PotatoEngineer yes, this is the right thread for that...
-
@PotatoEngineer said in THE BAD IDEAS THREAD:

Not really. It is far from my favorite flavor, although there are other things much worse. If I have a bunch of jelly beans, I don't throw the black ones away, but I'd prefer that they not be in there in the first place. However, Jelly Belly jelly beans are the only licorice-flavored candy (including "red licorice", which I do like) I know of that is gluten-free. Licorice in general is very much not gluten-free, and I have no desire whatsoever to search for any other licorice that is.

I know that I posted this one before in the cooking thread as part of a Tweet, but it's just too good so I'm copying it here:

If you don't care about the intro, the cook starts losing it at 1:10. Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to turn your headphone volume down.

Edit to add: I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky it's not pumpkin spice.

More cooking shows should end with "It's okay, I'm not hurt..."

@da-Doctah I dunno, it looks like gas station sushi. Nothing of value has been lost.
