The thread of movie titles and absence of badges. In previous episodes, it was signs you're getting older, chiropractic vs. medicine, atheism vs. Mormonism and religion vs. science with no existentialism nor philosophy thrown in

Chinese girl is a windmill, we hear.
-
We hear is cryptic crossword for "sounds like"
Chinese Girl is obviously a reference to the one child policy and dead babies
windmills spin, so fa-spin
I can't quite piece the clues together to a film title though

Only one out of three, I'm afraid. Don't over-think it.
I thought this one might be harder. Perhaps I should have mentioned French in there somewhere, but it sounded clumsy and I thought that might be too obvious.

Amélie? Not sure what that would have to do with the Chinese clue though
Mulan
French for windmill is moulin, pronounced (near as makes no difference) the same.
You expect me to know French for this? A like to the first person to post one that requires Klingon to solve it

I guess someone's auditioning for the New York Times crossword section. Those fuckers are hardcore.
-
Well if it hadn't been a well-known french word .. Moulin Rouge and all that? It's pretty common for crosswords to include bits of other languages..
@lolwhat I actually suck more than a little at crosswords, but I enjoy trying. Apparently I'd suck even more as a setter.
-
Moulin? A well-known word? No. And how many English speakers actually know that moulin means windmill? I sure didn't, and I took four years of Frog in school.

-
Good, but not what I was looking for.
I didn't think so, but it's all I could come up with.
-
Everything's well-known if you know it yourself, I guess. I did honestly think it wasn't un-common knowledge at least. Allow me to offer you a monoglot replacement:
Wayne, possibly, is as strong as aluminium.
-
That was a good clue, but no way in hell I'd have ever guessed it.
-

Very different meaning of eminence; you won't find it on the first page of answers from thesaurus.com. Once you get the right meaning, you still have to find the right word, which isn't listed as a synonym.
-
I don't think this is it, either, but now I'm thinking of Treasure of the Sierra Madre.
...and context...since it's getting farther away:
