and the JPEG artifacts.....

JPEG artifacts freak me out, it makes me worried my session is being hijacked and the website is illegitimate. You've seen the blurry web images prank for people stealing WiFi, you know.

seen it occasionally, yeah.
round these parts it's more common for the college students to replace all images with goatse,cx or other shock site images.
oddly, there are not very many open wifi routers around anymore.... i wonder if the two are related?
-
Firefox does it for me!

Maybe, but I think it's just that new consumer routers have better default passwords than before.

sorry, no longer welcome here

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAHA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHAHA!
New routers! What a riot!
there's exactly one access point visible from my house on 802.11N and that's mine. there's two that support 802.11G (one of them mine, the other is my fathers)
the other twenty odd access points that are visible from my house? 802.11B
-
I didn't say people would buy new ones ;p

What decade do you live in?

What decade do you live in?
2015
and this is a city i live in. at least by the standards of Maine.
with not many buildings over 8 stories and the average around 3 stories it probably wouldn't count as more than a suburb elsewhere.

And those people probably call their ISP to upgrade their Internet plan to 120 Mbit/s because it's too slow

i'm not complaining about that! they've got one of the ISPs to push fiber to the home in a fiar portion of the city. I'm hoping they come down main street next so i can get it to my house for cheap too!
-
2015
802.11g has been around for at least a decade.
I live in a village, and of the 22 access points visible from my sofa, every single one has is at least 802.11g, and all but one of them supports 802.11n.
-
802.11g has been around for at least a decade.
That sounds about right actually....
i think the routers will start to get replaced soon actually, their owners are starting to get to the point that they'll start moving south for retirement and the new owners of the houses will be younger and more hip with the tech.
-

Are your neighbours so old that they'd throw @boomzilla off their lawn?

802.11B
Wireless from before the term "WiFi"!
I had a 4km 802.11b link in 2003, mostly because those wireless bridges were cheap. I still have a PCMCIA "Skynet Global" wireless card too, that I used in my P166 Thinkpad. But I haven't tried it in years.
-
I have a PCMCIA card that can connect (up) to 802.11G, but only WEP or Unsecured, not sure if because Windows 2003 or card though...

Are you going to join the @accalia stalker club then? We don't support cookies, but sometimes cooties are just enough to get you through!
-
I was in the deep north, still had G routers.
Yeah, but you still didn't have any electricity to power them.

I have a feeling I'm not her typeMaking fun of The County never gets old.
Hey, we have electricity! In fact, I had to ride my moose out to the generators just the other day!
-
I have a feeling I'm not her type
To be fair, most stalkers aren't the stalked's type. Doesn't stop the fun though!
-
I have a feeling I'm not her type
Pretty sure you're right. but that's no reason not to be friendly. ;-)

With blackjack. And hookers.
In fact, forget the UG thing.
