Backwards brand names works better for some brands than others.
Serutan = worth pointing out in the commercials
Evian = ironically amusing
Strohs = potential killer

Would the galaxy or planets die if the moon and sun collided and everything get frozen?
For bonus :WTF:, a couple of the answers state that all life on Earth would be destroyed. I guess that's a possible contemporaneous event, depending on your scenario for why the moon is falling into the sun in the first place (such as if it's during the sun's red giant expansion phase), but it's not going to be a consequence of the moon and sun colliding.

Question'd been deleted, apparently.
If you're using a dry erase board to get around a "no talking" restriction, you're missing the point, probably.

Can't see it as deleted, but could also be a way to deal with something like "most don't understand sign language".

Does the planet's latitude affects the oxygen levels?
For example if I live in UK I assume that the air's oxygen levels are better due the weather is relatively cold most times and I could assume that cold weather has more oxygen. So I could say that places like Brazil the oxygen is different in a certain way?
As the one person who has (as of now) submitted an answer puts it:
Why? I could assume cold weather leads to more unicorns but then I need to be able to explain why I think that is the case, not just assume it's the case and stop there.
-
There might be an effect, but it will be swamped by the effects due to altitude variation and general weather variation. Yes, cold air will contain more oxygen per cubic foot than warm air, by application of the Gas Laws and the principles of partial pressures, but other things will dominate.
-

Oh, Ricky, you're so fine.
You're so incredibly fine that, in fact, you blow my mind.
-
Oh, the asker has put in an update.
Update: I assume or think or guess or for some reason the cold places have more oxygen levels because I instinctively feel better at cold weather. I don't know anything about this topic that is why I'm asking.
I feel better, so naturally I assume the cause is more oxygen...Really, who goes for "more oxygen" first without even considering that maybe the TEMPERATURE has something to do with it?
Something other than causing increased oxygen levels, that is.
Yes, cold air will contain more oxygen per cubic foot than warm air, by application of the Gas Laws and the principles of partial pressures, but other things will dominate.
Yes, I didn't bother putting this into an answer originally but it's pretty obvious that normal pressure variations are going to have a similar order of magnitude effect as climate variations, on the order of 10% variance. Someone else has pointed out that altitude will have an effect. Now I'm answering anyway to point out that they should be looking at direct effects of temperature, so I'll probably add that in :)
-
Not as stupid as some of the others I've posted here, but certainly falls under "has no understanding of the concept at all":

Me and my coworkers have actually discussed this to some extent one time at lunch. Summary:
There is evidence that the universe is expanding, and that we can't see out of it. You can't see into a black hole, and black holes of sufficient mass expand. So, perhaps we are inside a black hole. But we're all computer nerds, not astrophysicists, so perhaps we're entirely wrong, too.
-
Could also be part of a Day of Silence protest., but I rather doubt that they would be doing it at this time of year, and, yes, that still would be missing the point of the protest.
-
So, perhaps we are inside a black hole.
From the latest What-If, footnote 6:A black hole with the mass of the observable universe would have a radius of 13.8 billion light-years, and the universe is 13.8 billion years old, which has led some people to say "the Universe is a black hole!" (It's not.)
The link in the footnote goes into the details.
-
A black hole with the mass of the observable universe would have a radius of 13.8 billion light-years
Anyone want to offer any ideas around how one would even start to prove or deny this claim?
-
Seems like maybe could leverage some of the existing experimental supports around general relativity? That or we need some black and white holes to fuck around with.
-
Oh god, this is one of the best What-If's to date.
Anyway, on to the footnote!
The implication being that there is a region outside the black hole from which things could at least imagine escaping to. For the universe, there is no such outside region. So at a pretty trivial level, the universe is not a black hole.
...
You may have noticed that the universe is actually expanding. If there is no such outside region, what is the universe expanding into?
Thatβs because, if anything, our universe bears a passing resemblance to a white hole. Our universe (according to conventional general relativity) has a singularity in the past, out of which everything emerged, not a singularity in the future into which everything is crashing. We call that singularity the Big Bang, but itβs very similar to what we would expect from a white hole, which is just a time-reversed version of a black hole.
Okay, so perhaps the universe is actually a white hole?
-
If there is no such outside region, what is the universe expanding into?
No, space itself is expanding. This is independent of how our light horizon is expanding. Indeed, the expansion of space can go faster than the speed of light; spacetime isn't material. The consequences of this boggle my mind β such as being able to see objects that, if they still exist, are now 45 billion light years away β and I'm sure I don't understand them all.
-
No, space itself is expanding.
That's what I'm asking about. It seems like a very nontrivial issue, despite what the article from the What-If footnote says about it. If there is nothing to expand into, what is space expanding into?
-
More space. As in, without space, spatial notions break down. It's not expanding into anything. It's expanding.
-
It loops around, we all played Asteroids.
-
If there is no such outside region, what is the universe expanding into?
Nothing.
The Universe was created with a finite size. All the Elements within the Universe are, in fact, shrinking. The relative position of the Elements have not changed, nor the distance between them. But, because of our point of observation, we see the illusion of expansion because we have no concept or awareness of the shrinking and interpret it as "moving away".
We are shrinking because entropy is absorbing our matter - think of it as a balloon deflating (bad choice of imagery, I know. But Hey!)

Could also be part of a Day of Silence protest.
That was back in April? I didn't hear anything about it.

It's most common in schools, colleges, and universities, so if you're not in any of those, you probably won't see it. It's aimed at drawing attention to GLBTQ youth suicide rates.
Whoosh - bz

While you are explaining things I think you missed the point (all of @Bort's posts are trolling/jokes)..

No, but you
can have a whoosh flag.could take notice of the giant, rocket-powered penis of RAPE every once in a whileI'm tired of "whoosh". Bring on the rocket-powered penises! There's nothing sexier than a giant, rocket-powered penis!

No, thanks, I'll just keep ignoring it.
-
Hi - I genuinely hadn't seen this modeled in this fashion, but it seems consistent. Can you give me a cite to follow up via?
-
I think we should start trolling Yahoo Answers and suggesting that people go ask on the various StackExchange sites.
-
No, thanks, I'll just keep ignoring it.
Surprised that you find campus rapes to be completely overshadowed by teen GLBTQ suicide. I suppose there are valuation systems that would give that, but it ignores rate.
-
I wasn't talking about campus rape, and since @Bort never mentioned it, i assumed he was just referring to his crappy Paint alteration of that image @antiquarian posted to me last night, which I ignored.

his crappy Paint alteration of that image
Hey, man, that was uncalled for. You cut me deep.
Deep.
DDDDEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPP.
Tell me if any of these are an improvement:

Did you make any of them? They're improvements, but whether or not you can take credit for that improvement is debatable. Especially when they're not even in the picture in question.
-
Did you make any of them?
Yes. Every single one. Including the one that is a photograph. I can draw photographs. It's a rare skill I get from my mother's side.
I have one more confession...
...I did 9/11.

Now apologize for causing all that cancer!

I knew it. Even when I was ten years old sitting in my parents' room with them that morning looking on in horror, I knew, "Bort did this." It had to be you. It always had to be you. That's why I knew immediately that Dubya was just invading Iraq for oil.

I'm kinda surprised he hasn't already, given my experiences with him.

As Far As I Know, it's all my own work.
That being said: Whilst I don't read a lot of scientific documentation, in this case, I tend to remember what I have read. I had not ever given it any previous thought and it just "popped" into my head fully formed as I was reading the upstream posts. But you are right The consistency of it did occur to me (I was going to point it out, but I didn't want to trigger the pedantPentantry module unnecessarily) and I did spend some time modelling it (in my mind's eye) to check the consistency. There may be some, very minuscule, changes in position and distance but it would be logarithmic and relative to the centre in nature.
