Well anyhow, it's only been tested against apathetic velociraptors.

Status: Phone interview. Scheduled for 1 hour (2 guys, half-hour each). Ran almost 2 hours. The second guy that talked to me for almost an hour-and-a-half is the manager.

Sounds promising...

Status: creeped the f*ck out for no particular reason.
I once got the fear for no particular reason walking the 100 yards from my house to the corner shop. It was dark but it wasn't a scary walk; just a normal suburban street in the UK. It was something about the bushes that creeped my out so I walked right down the middle of the road.
I felt like a fool but I couldn't help myself.
Status: Last day before a 3 day weekend.

We'll see, but the fact that he was willing to spend that much time talking to me does seem like a positive indicator.
The first guy said I pretty-much aced all of the questions he wanted to ask, and responded well to the questions I asked. The manager asked some tougher questions, but seemed ok with the one I didn't know, but knew where to find find the answer. A big chunk of the time was his answer to "Tell me about the culture of $company." However, I didn't really get a warm, fuzzy feeling from the what-happens-next ending. All I really know is that an in-person interview, if there is one, will be at least a couple of weeks out, and my next contact will be with the HR person who had been my only contact until this afternoon.

I forgot about the dishwasher I had paused mid-cycle just before the phone interview. As a result, I don't have clean dishes ready to eat dinner.
At least I have dishes; FWP.

Status: submitting a lightheartedly pedantic bug report to Duolingo because their guidelines say "Please don't use Duolingo to to summarize".
Status: noticing how Duolingo's support ticket system is about 50 times better at being a discussion platform than Discourse is.

We have received your report and would like to thank you for taking the time to send it to us. To increase the likelihood of a fix, try to include screenshots, steps to reproduce the bug, and a description of your system (if possible). You can reply to this email with extra information you would like to add on to the original report. Please note that you are not likely to get a personal reply to this message. Reports like these are extremely valuable to us, as they help our developers detect issues and offer a better experience to all Duolingo learners. Thank you for helping us improve Duolingo.
(emphasis mine)
It's weird how an automated reply can be better at handling community bug reports than Jeff is.

Where is my portal gun?

I guess since the science is not done (it's still "doing"), the gun is not ready yet.

Aperture Science?
I googled that, but I'm still whooshing on what it has to do with velociraptor tests.

More to do with tests being lethal to the human test subject

EDIT: No, it apparently crashed. And you can't choose it if you're in it.

Thanks CNBC, I was under the assumption that Tesla had sold 0 cars since their last quarterly report.

Status: for Christ's sake, me telling the guys back at work that I can work overtime for a while because they just deployed, I had a lot of my own features in the new version and there are no devs immediately familiar with the product does not mean you can pelter me with bug reports a full month after I started an on-site contract. for rasins authentication and authorship are different things to github
you authenticated as you, but your user.name and user.email was set as me (oops! my bad!) so git attributed authorshipt to megit did that because you may have cross merged from me before pushing to github and github wished to preserve ownership correctly.
it's a WTF, but at least a well intentioned one
-
You know what solves identity problems handily?
Having a central authority who knows about all authors and can tell them apart.
-
kind of hard to have that when you are a distributed source control system. ;-)
that works great for centralized ones, but distributed? that's harder
-
ow you're going to start freefall?
Um, somebody mentioned Pibgorn yesterday — about 1.5 years into that, now.

you're addicted!
and that's a good thing!

Status: The local revenuers have nailed me twice in the past year for "speeding" on a road that's designed for at least 15MPH more than the posted speed limit. (Intentional? Nah.) Thus,
Miniluvthe BMV has mandated that I take a defensive driving course within a couple months, or lose my license. The course is available via DVD or streaming video; it's required to run at least four hours, and fast-forwarding is streng verboten. Naturally, there are a couple quizzes and a final exam, but I can take those online.By the way, I'm thinking about ripping some DVD's that I legally own. Would anyone recommend Windows software that allows me to turn off UOP in the rips?

i use makemkv to get the dvd/blueray onto the hard drive (it's free for 30 days, forever if you find that registry key and mess with it) and then run that giant ass mkv file through handbrake to reencode with h264 instead of MPEG2
if it's just dvd and the encryption isn't the super nasty kind you can skip makemkv and rip straign in handbrake, which is freeware btw. awesome program.
-
AnyDVD is the best and (practically) only solution for ripping DVDs and Blu-Rays.

Actually, I'm losing interest in Pibgorn. I'm at a place where the cartoonist has his characters acting out "A Midsummer Night's Dream." This has been going on for over three month's worth of strips with no explanation or apparent reason, and at this rate it will probably take at least another four to five months to get through the rest of the play. I like Shakespeare, but that's not why I'm reading a comic.
-

It's being done Just Because. It doesn't link into anything (and you need to read 9 Chickweed Lane as well to get all the internal jokes). Skip ahead if it isn't your thing. And skip ahead again once you get to where he does Romeo and Juliet. But then you're getting much closer to current; I think the arc after that is the current (unfinished) one.

Double-check you didn't make a few typos in your profile information. Maybe GitHub picked up on that :P

DVDFab works as well, though.

Status: I should pay closer attention to the date so I don't show up to work and wonder why the parking lot is basically empty.
Additional Note: I was renewing my lease and talking with the landlord made me realize one of the benefits of living somewhere that rents mostly to college students. If you reliably pay your rent on time the landlord will consider you a gift from their deity(s) which means dodging common clauses in the lease.

Lucky. We had to come in. And it's such a nice day... At least the train wasn't crowded...
