This is most beers for me. The first couple sips are okay, but by halfway through the bottle it's just nasty.
Then don't let it get so warm!

Status: Today on the bus, the last person on earth who has never heard of the phrase "exact change only" in reference to bus fares.

exact change only
Any bus service that actually enforces that is just being dickish for the sake of it. Unless they print a full price list and publish it at bus stops, how will people know what exact change they need?
-
Was it Spock and Kirk?
-
They put a 5 into the bill acceptor and expected the thing with no holes on it for change to spit out change?

Strange that I'd have developed a bias before the first time I ever tried any American chocolate, without having come across the idea of it's being supposedly worse anywhere else.
That's my reaction when people (mostly Coke) claims that cane-sugar Coke takes the same as corn-syrup Coke. I rarely drink either, but I happened to have some during an overseas trip, and it actually tasted quite good, unlike my experiences with US Coke which I consider pretty mediocre. That's like a blind test to beat all blind tests... it was a blind test in which the test subject didn't even know he was being tested, or that even such a test was possible?

They "enforce" it by having a secure cash box. There's no way to access it to make change.
Besides, all non-idiots switched to the RFID cards years ago. The people paying in cash just piss everybody else off.

Yeah… a lot of bus netwrosk in the UK don't have RFID cards or readers…

Sorry your country sucks? I guess?

exact change only
Not here, either -- our bus system is lame as all get out, but the fareboxes we have are at least smart enough to issue you a (mag-stripe) change-card if you put in extra. Transfers work through the same mag-stripe cards, so it's not any extra hardware on the farebox, just some firmware support.
Before that, the rule was "exact change only", but they didn't care in practice about people throwing donations to their cause into the farebox.

Hey -- at least I got rid of infiniscroll!

Yeah, and if your country didn't suck, we might still be British subjects.
What's your point again?
-
Besides, all non-idiots switched to the RFID cards years ago except the ones who only have to take a bus once every few years if their car is broken, or something. The people paying in cash just piss everybody else off.
I used to have a card, but I lost it and haven't bothered to replace it because I've only taken a bus twice, I think, in the last two years. Belgium, too, because it still had something like $50 on it.

of course now Macie's getting notifications every time we change the topic title (and post if he hasn't unwatched the topic now)
Joke's on you, a Jeffed post apparently sends those notification out either to the Jeffer, or nobody at all.
hmm.... Ragequit or just busy at day job?
Jeesh, two days busy and they already pronounce you good as dead.

news to me then.
glad we're not swamping you in notifications then.
Jeesh, two days busy and they already pronounce you good as dead.
was it only two days? seems longer.... but then as noted elsewhere my internal chronometer has been broken for ages.

Once again, the conservative, sandwich-heavy portfolio pays off for the hungry investor.
Morning meeting with breakfast sandwiches. Twice as much food as attendees to eat it. Happy non-attendees. :)

Status: Heard a suggestion for a manual process I deal with assigning things to. Good idea, but after some analysis of how often the case it would cut out happened I had to go, uh it only saves a small amount of work thus with how internal billing works it probably isn't worth it if the customer won't pay for it. As an enhancement to internal bit of work they won't so it is something that I should have thought of before and built in originally won't get done (or I'll need to sneak it into some other update).

The problem is it's still a good card even with that issue.

I know, but between the stink over at Overclock.net and that NVIDIA is being sued over the issue, I was hoping everyone would be dropping them like live grenades so I can snatch one up cheap.

I don't know, but if I had to guess, I'd pick @sam. Chances are @PJH has been at the pub since before it started. It did actually go into read-only mode for a couple of minutes.
Why? I have no idea.

Is the mass import from CS happening at last? Or did that happen a while ago, and I just missed it?
-
Whether it's happening now, I don't know. I'm pretty sure it didn't happen a while ago.
-
I know it's been on the cards for a while now. It'll be good when it happens; it'll boost my post count (though obviously not the post rate). The boost will mean I get the next badger that bit quicker

@InedoJohn did. No idea why.
Chances are @PJH has been at the pub since before it started.
4½ hrs before.
