Ah. So I see.

You mean to tell me that you nearly done fell overed?
-
Yes, saying "I nearly DFO'd" is urban slang found in heavily populated areas outside the (Northern) Minnesota and Wisconsin boondocks. It's a bastardized back-formation related to "I nearly died/plotzed".

I didn't know S&M forums where less embarrassing than this place from a professional view. Whatever floats your boat I guess. Except when it's a submarine.

- Dwarf Fortress's "scholars getting drunk and dancing and/or beating people up in a tavern" update is coming out "in a few days".
- The public beta of Let's Encrypt starts in a few days.
- A GW2 fansite's
ChristmasWintersday lottery starts in a few days.
It doesn't seem like anything is happening tomorrow, though.

Status: First day back in the tech world after vacation. Now wondering why searching for "Windows Update" in the Windows 10 Start Menu takes me to the old deactivated ActiveX website for updating Windows 98 - XP.
Well crap, it seems the Start Menu search doesn't actually search through any installed apps, it's always a web search. They actually made it worse than Windows 8!

No repro:

Does this on my laptop, too. Also happens with a bunch of other random stuff I know is installed. KeePass seems to be the worst offender.

You have malware installed that hijacks your searches.
It's called "Windows 10".

I had a Dell XPS with that problem; baking the video card made the problem go away for a while.

The most common cause of Windows errors like that are third party extensions. I recommend you uninstall all programs and return it back to factory default state and use it like that.
You may also want to check and see if you are trying to run it on Linux hardware.
Mac Classic.
HyperCard.

No repro. Ditto with KeePass in particular.

Status: Thread title is currently "NEO GEO ARE THAT TERRIFYING TO NES BABIES"
I remember as a teen, hearing about TEH SUPER AWEZOMNESS that was the NeoGeo home gaming system. But it was so AMAZING and ELIETE that it costs nearly a thousand dollars and games were $100+.
I never knew anyone who had one, obviously. But now I wonder, anyone who did buy one-- what they think of emulators.

Never tried the emulators, but the Neo Geo was pretty underwhelming just because the games I actually wanted to play were on the other platforms.

I have a cow orker who has the same experience as you, but that makes two people I've ever seen with this behavior. But I think it might just be that you didn't set up the search, since that's a thing now. Whenever you open the search, it should be asking you about that.

But METAL SLUG!
I once stayed up really late playing metal slug 5,6,1,X,3,4 and 5 on my PS2. It was great!

But METAL SLUG!
Exceptions, rules, etc.
It still wasn't worth the money that was paid for it. I had a TurboGrafx16 also, and although the console was great for its time, all the games except one were kind of rubbish. (Ninja Spirit was pretty awesome)

Status: @Arantor, I know @royal_poet wanted to show you WvW, but here's why that probably won't happen any time soon:
1328 A.E., Week 40
Gunnar's Hold (rank 14) matched with Abbadon's Mouth (rank 15) and Drakkar Lake (rank 16). Abbadon's Mouth wins, swapping ranks with Gunnar's Hold.
1328 A.E., Week 41
Gunnar's Hold (rank 15) matched with Abbadon's Mouth (rank 14) and Aurora Glade (rank 13). Aurora Glade wins, moving to rank 12.
1328 A.E., Week 42
Gunnar's Hold (rank 15) matched with Abbadon's Mouth (rank 14) and Aurora Glade (rank 12). Aurora Glade wins again.
1328 A.E., Week 43
Gunnar's Hold (rank 15) matched with Abbadon's Mouth (rank 14) and Augury Rock (rank 13). Augury Rock focuses on defeating Abbadon's Mouth and Gunnar's Hold manages to get second place. Augury Rock advances to rank 12.
1328 A.E., Week 44
Exactly the same matchup and result as week 43. Abbadon's Mouth and Gunnar's Hold swap ranks.
1328 A.E., Week 45
Gunnar's Hold (rank 14) matched with Abbadon's Mouth (rank 15) and Aurora Glade (rank 13). Both Aurora Glade and Abbadon's Mouth focus their attacks on Gunnar's Hold. Gunnar's Hold goes down a rank to 15. Abbadon's Mouth and Aurora Glade gain one rank each.
1328 A.E., Week 46
Gunnar's Hold (rank 15) matched with Abbadon's Mouth (rank 14) and Elona Reach (rank 11). Elona Reach, being the far superior team (in the same way that the Harlem Globetrotters would be superior to a little league basketball team) wins by a huge margin and gains 2 ranks, putting them at 9, or 6 ranks above the team they were matched against.
1328 A.E., Week 47
The matchmaking system thinks "gee, I wonder why that little league basketball team couldn't beat the Harlem Globetrotters" and matches us up against the rank 11 team again. We lose by an even larger margin but nobody changes ranks.
1328 A.E., Week 48 (current week)
The matchmaking system thinks "hmm, maybe the middle team being close to the bottom team was a problem. Let's match the bottom team against a higher ranking team this time."
Gunnar's Hold (rank 15) is matched with Aurora Glade (rank 13) and Far Shiverpeaks (rank 11). Far Shiverpeaks currently has a score higher than the sum of the other two teams' scores.
Wait, what?
Let's look at Far Shiverpeaks more closely, shall we?
- Week 34. Far Shiverpeaks loses to rank 1 world, Desolation, by a margin of about 30%. Desolation has been in the top 4 for the entire year and the top 5 for most of the previous year.
- Week 35. Far Shiverpeaks gets first place and loses a rank.
- (skipping ahead a bit)
- Week 38. Far Shiverpeaks matched against the top two worlds.
- Week 39. Far Shiverpeaks matched against the top two worlds.
- Week 40. Far Shiverpeaks matched against the rank 5 and rank 6 worlds. Somehow gets last place.
- Week 41. Far Shiverpeaks matched against the rank 5 and rank 8 worlds. Gets first place.
- Week 42. Far Shiverpeaks matched against the rank 11 and rank 13 worlds. Gets first place by a huge margin because what the fuck, matchmaking?
- Week 43. Heart of Thorns has been released. The Halloween event has started. Guild upgrades are reset because there's a new system. Far Shiverpeaks gets 3rd place.
- Week 44. Jade Sea (rank 6) stomps Seafarer's Rest (rank 5) and Far Shiverpeaks (rank 4). Both losing worlds drop by 3 ranks.
- Week 45. Far Shiverpeaks takes third place and drops by another rank.
- Week 46. Spirit Vale raid released. Far Shiverpeaks loses by a small margin (~15%) and drops by 3 ranks.
- Week 47-48. Far Shiverpeaks (rank 4 before a bunch of new content was released, now rank 11) is matched with Gunnar's Hold (rank 15 both before and after the new content) for two weeks in a row.

Because atom=update?
On my other computer I get Java updater then some random auto-updater. Not sure wtf that's all about.
