I've moved the most obvious stuff into there. No doubt it will grow.

too many categories is a bad idea. If everytime a thing has a few topics you create a new category, you'll end drowned in hundreds of categories, and will never be able to get rid of them.

Those 7 topics have a lot of posts, I think it makes sense to have this one.

@boomzilla I suggest moving these there to make that category more interesting:

Sneak into the country, and then Democrats will court your vote!

Actually, I don't think that would happen even if you set a Tsar Bomba off on top of the mushroom cloud of another one.
Do it a few more times, maybe.

By making immigrants illegal, but not effectively removing them from your territory, you guys just created a second class of citizen for cheap work, like some wort of apartheid.

Yes, that is one of the criticisms of the current immigration regime.
-
@groo Yes, a lot of us are aware of that. But idiots and/or government has decided that alone among the countries of the world, this one has no right to control who comes in or out.
-
@FrostCat Great Britain doesn't either, apparently.

@boomzilla make Gritain Breat again or something.

@Arantor said in Politics category:
I'm not American. I don't live in America. How the fuck could I vote for the American president?
Nobody votes for American presidents.
They just bribe enough electoral votes to get favorable policies passed by whatever puppet figurehead is warming the seat at the moment.
...
Oh you meant as a CITIZEN. No, their votes don't count, either.
-
@boomzilla Happy to brain drain their neighbors taking only the most well educated people, but won't accept the poor and the refugees, perpetuating the difference between those places.
-
@groo Do you have walls around your house? Locks on your door?
-
@boomzilla your point being?
-
@groo Do you think that's an answer?

That is quite possibly the least true about the USA as it is of any other country in the world. Tons of poor and refugees are accepted here, but they must go through the legal immigration process; there is a finite number that can be accepted. Having innumerable immigrants coming here illegally doesn't help that.
I've heard that you have to be something like a doctor or engineer to legally emigrate to Mexico, or they won't even begin to consider to accept you. But I doubt that's what you're talking about. They're quite happy, though, to let their poor and refugees come here, illegally of course.

@anotherusername thats why we forbid our comrades from living our borders

@groo that's how you know you live in the best sort of country.

I know that's true because that's what the newspapers and tv say here all the time.
There was a guy that use to say it's a lie, but I haven't seem him anymore, must be hiding in shame of being so stupidly wrong.

@Jaloopa except for the tunnel that goes under it... Oops.

@coldandtired the facepalms can be heard to as far as one nautical mile away.
-
@coldandtired this is not surprising; it's intersecting between good old Imperial measurements and the filthy metric users they're trying to keep out!
Because that's what it's really about, people. It's not about protecting against refugees. Just like in the 1950s it was all about protecting the West from that filthy communism, now it's about protecting people from units of measurement their tiny little minds cannot possibly comprehend!
-
@Onyx but how many furlongs down is that?

That's a tricky calculation... I'll get back to you in a fortnight or so.
-
@Onyx but how many metric seconds is that?!
Because aren't there like 100 metric seconds in an Imperial hour or something?
I LITERALLY CANNOT COPE WITH THIS.
-
@Arantor I would say that even the metric system is pretty old in the UK. I'm 37 and imperial measurements were neither used nor taught when I was at school.
How many decades more do people need to learn to multiply by 10?
-

Is the wall just bricking up the channel tunnel then? Because I could get behind keeping the French out

At least a couple of dozen, maybe a score.

Not quite sure how it's supposed to work, to be honest. Especially if, y'know, the French government get fed up with having the UK's border on French soil. The people around Calais are already somewhat fed up, and there's a fairly sizeable opinion that the French should just let the poor buggers tied up in "le jungle" cross the channel, and leave it for the Brits sort out. It goes a bit like
You want out of Europe? OK, 'ave your border back.
except with more implied onions, garlic and sneering through a haze of gauloise smoke.

I believe the UK pays for all the Calais border stuff. Including that 1km*21ft wall. If the French got rid of that agreement they'd unavoidably keep part of the problem but lose all of the money.
