That's dumb! I looked at that list and though "FUCK YEAH I'M TOP POSTED" then saw it was PAGE TWO and now I'm like "fuck y'all Imma posting tons of shit just to spite you now".
Why is the user list paginated now?
On a serious note: I would guess it's following your pagination settings?
If not, "Where do I file bug" blue text applies.
@aliceif said in The Official Status Thread:
Why is the page size completely stupid?
Again, I assume it comes from your pagination settings for posts.

STATUS
Watched a show about American company that moves houses.
Like, they cut it off at the foundation, put it on a truck, drive it across the country (knocking down shit and disrupting traffic along the way) and plant it in a new location.
...
WTF is wrong with Americans?!
JUST SELL THE HOUSE AND BUY A NEW ONE, IDIOT.
You even get to save like $20K or however much they are charging.

@cartman82 it's practical because they make their houses with cardboard or something. do they do it with concrete and brick ones?
-
Status went to a benefit concert last night called "Be Loud '16". I realized when I got there that I had no idea who was benefiting from the concert. So I pull out my (Android) phone, bring up Google Now, type "be loud", and hit enter. Instead of giving me search results, it turned up my phone's volume all the way.

No, it was all crappy 1-story boxes they put together with prefab lego pieces. Why would somebody want to pay a fortune to haul that shit cross country I'll never understand.

Sometimes the house is hundreds of years old or they have some other reason for wanting to keep it.
-
-
@coldandtired Maybe he's thinking about houses like these?
Though relocating might be a tad difficult, what with the mountain above them and all.

@Rhywden It's metal, it has bagpipes, and I guess I'm feeling nostalgic for when Korn made good music today.

TIL Qubes OS exists and it supports Windows. This is a huge step in the right direction as far as personal desktop security goes. I've always wanted to be able to control application permissions and run multiple isolated instances as an OS level feature without running a smartphone/tablet OS on my desktop.

It looks like it's just a custom GUI for VirtualBox or qemu. You're not running compartmentalized programs with permissions - you're running a bunch of VMs, one for each program.

Hmm. Looks like no audio support for Windows VMs either.
And they're already at version 3.1?!?! WTF?

A reasonably secure operating system
Not "tremendously secure" or "completely secure". Just, you know, reasonably secure. As in, usually it won't fuck your shit up too much.

Follow-up Status: Replaced the battery, tested, works fine.
Total amount spent for Super Metroid, under $5. Current "going" price for it cart only is $51, and no local video game store would have it for less than $65, if they even have a copy.

That's lunacy.
I swear that I've seen it for half that a year or so ago at a local store here. European version, though.

Maybe SNES collecting isn't as big over there as it is here? Best info I have is this:
Granted, it really only tracks US eBay prices, but that's a decent gauge for me when every local seller generally has eBay prices at best and way over at worst. And from what I can tell, last time Super Metroid was around $25 was 4 years ago.
Honestly, I never intended to get into collecting anything retro until my brother picked up a SNES for me. But I'm not going to go for a large/"complete" collection like he is (though his goal is complete NES, not SNES, but he has a lot of games and a lot of systems), just specific titles like the usual ones (Metroid, Zelda, Mario, etc.) and ones that are special to me (Flashback, Out of this World/Another World).

Hi, I'm from Poland, what's that ess-nees thingy?
I seriously think if you put an SNES cart up at the local store, people with torches would gather and start whispering about witchcraft.

Status: just got some production logs I've requested a few days ago. (Yes, it's still Sunday afternoon, don't adjust your calendars. The lead dev has some seriously elastic working hours.)
The problem the client reported was that SAP wasn't importing some files generated by our application. The process is that we generate a text file with a Windows service, drop it into a folder, and SAP picks it up and imports the data.
The logs are perfectly clean. The file gets created, filled, and saved, the folder name matches, but the customer swears the file isn't there. On my laptop, the service runs just fine and creates the file where it's supposed to.
Well, I think my reply will be "shrug, no idea". Because I really don't have any.
-
@cartman82 Generally this kind of thing is done because the original site is in some way no longer suitable, in order to preserve the original structure - generally for historical preservation purposes, not because someone wants to move and take their entire house with them.
NOBODY does this for houses constructed recently (though you do see houses on the road quite a lot, because one of the most inexpensive ways to build a house is from prefabricated units which get trucked in and stacked together. Like a classy trailer park)
-
@Maciejasjmj This happens a lot at WtfCorp. It always comes down to 'the customer-side app is shit and fails periodically, murdering the file'.

Oooooh lovely. Scrollbar, re-implemented in Flash. Doesn't respond to my scrollwheel. So I have to manually click it and drag it.
