I'm starting to get a hang of macOS multiple desktops which are called "spaces".
It's a neat system. I wish MS hadn't abandoned its coat-hanger abortion quality attempt in Win 10.
It's also in Chocolatey, if you're so inclined.

i know webdevs that swear by webstorm is paid, but only 60$/yr for a personal copy.
atom and vscode have some good reviews too.
and then there's always visualstudio. community edition is free and does some pretty awesome stuff.
I went with webstorm for the moment. It's quite good. I think I might buy it after the trail is up. Thank you!

Viewing some code part that is known to be slow to run. Noticed the code uses Mutex, and have comment that the original author know there is race condition bug in the code but the code should be fine if run in synchronized manner, that's why Mutex is used.
Probably will just skip meddling that part because I'm not prepared to open that can of worm.If you are going to meddle, the key is to try to put as much of the slow parts outside the mutex as possible using things like copies of the data and computing sets of actions to be committed with the commits happening inside the mutex, of course; the mutex should protect the shared state, but the less state you share, the less time you need to hold the mutex.
Which sounds like an easy change to apply from what I wrote. It isn't. Unchoking a mutex is difficult and usually requires quite a bit of thought (and is consequently one of the more interesting sorts of debugging). Good luck.

The building opposite is having new insulation put on the walls.
Consequently, my day is now filled with the noise of scraping, drilling, and much worse, a radio blaring out the same fucking five songs every hour.

Ugh. There's a local station here that used to do that, and last year, finally, they changed to a "no-repeat workday" format.
Before that it was like "I'm in the car 8 minutes, 4 times a day. How come I hear the same song on every damn trip?"

@dkf it was shorter to write, I did add a variable in the actual code. Even if I didn't, it's two dropdowns with what, 12 iterations currently? I think the server can handle it.

Obstructing traffic by driving 5 MPH below the speed limit does not win friends for your technology.
They do that because all the meat-computer controlled cars are buggy, unreliable, outdated, and crash too often.
If all the meat-computer controlled cars were replaced with ACTUAL computer controlled cars, everyone could go 40mph above the speed limit without worry, and there would be no backup or "giving priority" to a line of traffic.

@Lorne-Kates I thought the research had been done to show that the slow, never break any rules, autonomous cars were dangerous on normal roads because they're so different to the norm

You'll note that, most likely, at the same time they switched to this format:
- DJ blathers about story he saw on Facebook for 3 minutes
- One song
- 5 minutes of commercials
- 1-2 songs
- 5 minutes of commercials
- DJ does sponsored interview with local business
- Maybe 1 song, which DJ talks over beginning of
- 5 minutes of commercials
The format usually ends with "Hmm, a 32GB previous generation ipod is only $40..."

Cite-au-cite?
Also, I was reading they're not so much dangerous as they need to give out more human-readable cues. Like, it can perform a lane change perfectly in minimal amount of time. But humans are expecting some cues-- the driver's head to turn, the signal to go on well before the turn, a slow hesitant start to the turn, and a drift over.
Basically, the car needs to act slightly more human, so the meat-computer pattern recognition software-- which has already been trained to the behavior of other meat-computer operated vehicles-- will still work.
It's more of a backwards compatibility issue.

@Lorne-Kates Nope--it's a Jack FM station, so no DJs.

I didn't say that is what happens. But that's sortof the expectation. Check blindsport. Signal. Check blindspot. Move.
If someone doesn't do that, they're a shithead who is cutting you off, and you react accordingly.
But in a self-driving car's case, GET-IN-POSTION.SIGNAL.MOVE.DONE really fast. And for a self-driving car, that is the correct and safe maneuver. But you, as a human, are not expecting a safe result from that. So you react accordingly-- brake hard, honk, whatever-- which is technically "wrong".
That's the challenge there.

But if it powered off the PC, took 2 hours to get back to productivity because of Windows Updates (fuck yoooooooooooooooooooou)

They're going to have to put all these hacks in to work with real drivers, then gradually tone them down as autonomous ramps up

This was introduced in fscking XP!

OMFG URGENT SUPPORT NEEDED YOUR FEATURE FUCKED UP WRONG DATES IN ORDER!
That's a custom feature you put in.
NO OMFG U SCREWED UP FIX IN LIVE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm looking at the error, but that's almost certainly bad data. Say, when you "tested" this feature last week, with this same data, what results did you get?
{no emails for 15 minutes}
Say, good fellow, I didn't actually test that during the UAT that I signed off on. However, I tested it now and it works. It seems the Production data-- that I and only I am in charge of-- was somehow set incorrectly. I've fixed it and will get back to you if anything else goes wrong.
Yeah.{five minutes later}

I can reach it. That's odd.
YES I KNO ONLY UNREACHABLE FROM INTERNAL NETWORK OUTSIDE CUSTOMSERS OK!!! HOW FIX??????
Uhh-- so the site works perfectly for people outside your internal network, but not for people inside your internal network. Have you thought that, perhaps, the problem is with your internal network?
NO UNPOSSIBLE I CHECKED AND....

Status: So in Digimon, I reached the challenwhere I have to fight Imperialdramon Paladin Mode (Arguably the strongest Digimon, previously unarguably). Except there are three of him. Two seem to be fakes, but if you kill them he gets stronger. So I figured I'd raise some good Data types (since he's Vaccine, which Data is strong against). I got myself a Hackmon with the needed camaraderie and ability scores to become Jessmon, so now it's a matter of leveling. I got SuperStarmon well on the way to becoming Gankoomon and Risegreymon ready to become Examon too. I think this will all go just fine.
Getting to just before the last boss has opened up really expensive stat raising items, so getting them where I need them is much easier now. I also really like my current party, because it's all powerful jogressed Digimon: Chaosmon, Mastemon, Omegamon: All three of them have are asymmetrical fusions.
