🎂The cupcake thread of celebrations.
-
I'm celebrating decisively proving that a customer's problem is down to their environment, not my code
-
-
Are you sure those are cupcakes?
-
Chocolate with mint leaves by the looks of it.
-
I'm not sure what this is...
-
I wanted to say cupcake-bursters, but the tentacles suggest otherwise.
I any case, WANT!

Celebrating: I ended up triple booked for 2pm tomorrow.
-
-
I'm a very sarcastic celebrator :)
-
ah. carry on then.

I rather feel like celebrating this:

Status: I have electricity.
By way of explanation, we had a storm with high winds yesterday. According to one account I heard, between the two entities that provide electricity to this area, 350000 people (or households, I'm not sure which) were without power last night. Last time I checked SNOPUD's recorded info this afternoon, about 55000 of their people/households were still without. I was without for about 24 hours.

They've a bit of a tendency to lie in wait in dark places like over-engineered caltrops, but I suppose it does mean that wall warts don't pull out.

So do Legos. And D4s. And D12s, but they don't prick you, you just slip on them, Home Alone style.

Schuko is pretty fine ...

They're OK but you can't use them with ring final circuits because of the lack of fuse.

Dunno how it looks like in Germany, but those are somewhat annoying in Poland since some sockets have a neutral pin, not hole, and some wall warts and plugs don't fit because of it. Back when I had (now-retro, I guess) gaming consoles, I remember having to juggle extension cords.

Never heard of that.
Odd.

Wait... neutral or ground? I think you mean ground.

storm [...] electricity

The German Schuko uses earthing clips that engage when the plug is pushed into the socket. Poland uses the French variant apparently.

I think that makes @HardwareGeek eligible for a 2nd "Viscount Pedantic Dickweed of the Most Noble Order of the Garter"

What about a cupcake for the 2nd day of 2016? It's such an overlooked day ... it deserves something sweet.
-
-
It's not overlooked in Scotland ;)
-
Scotland
I think that's to do with the amount of time required to recover from those Hogmanay Hangovers…

Our patching process, bane of our existence, has finally produced a good result. Crushed the previous records for successful deploys and % of servers current by a substantial amount! What's that light down in the distance?!?!? woooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
