🔥 Now - about that dodgy Dihydrogen Monoxide...

Lorne provided several already. ;)

Pick your favorite one then.

At the time of the switch, Darnell Earley was Flint’s state-appointed emergency manager, with near total control of day-to-day operations. He was the third appointee to oversee the financially unstable city since 2011. According to a letter obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan, it was Earley who made the final call.

These two in tandem comprise my favorite.

IOW: no. But thanks for playing.
I guess this is just too tangled an issue for your and @Lorne_Kates' attention span.

Start by following the links. I didn't see any mention of a single death in either article. That seems like an important part of a charge of negligent homicide. And that's long before we even start looking at how they arrived at the decision to use the river water without proper treatment.
Never change, dude.

Jesus H. Tapdancin' Christ. It has been thoroughly established and I thought was common knowledge that several people have died as a result of the Flint water crisis. So, I was pointing out links which outline Snyder's complicity in the deaths.

Look, don't blame me for your inability to support your arguments. You still have a ways to go before you prove negligent homicide on his part, though. For instance, he probably would need to have been involved in the decision or have a reasonable reason not to have trusted the DEQ or the people on the scene.
Have they figured out who actually made the decision? I haven't seen anything about a documentation trail establishing that. And then...what's the responsibility of the city guys who lied about their testing procedures?
Why are you guys more interested in finding a scapegoat than figuring out how the system failed?

Why are you more interested in helping find a scapegoat than punishing anyone and everyone involved in and responsible for the system's failure?

I wonder if there is, theoretically, a position in between "Hang the Governor Right Now, and then find who else, if any (probably not), was involved" and "The Governor is complete innocent, let's award him a medal and kill all the Democrats, lead poisoning doesn't exist anyway".
I know, such a position would exist in theory only, but I think it's an interesting question none the less.

So...me...the guy who's been advocating for finding out what happened, is less interested in punishing everyone involved that you and Lorne, who want to run off with incomplete information and lynch one guy.
You never disappoint!

the guy who's been advocating for
finding out what happeneddoing nothing until a complete Biblical account of the entire history of Flint has been compiled
FTFYis less interested in punishing everyone involved that you and Lorne
Correct.who want to run off with incomplete information and lynch one guy who we already know is complicit at least in the cover-up and delay of aid, and at least indirectly responsible for the original problem, then continue punishing everyone else responsible as more information is obtained.

At the very least, several counts of negligent homicide.
There we go, the @Fox dictionary is back out in full force again.
That is the definition that the rest of society uses. Please use it to reduce confusion and lessen the likelihood that we will think you are a victim of lead poisoning.

It has been thoroughly established and I thought was common knowledge that several people have died as a result of the Flint water crisis
Really? You post a link to the "World Socialist Website" and expect any of us to take that seriously? You may as well link an article by The Onion while you are at it.
-
Why are you more interested in helping find a scapegoat than punishing anyone and everyone involved in and responsible for the system's failure?
Why are you more interested in finding a scapegoat than the truth? Aren't you all about not punishing innocent people or autonomously acting as judge, jury and executioner?
Well, actually you are all for it when it fits your narrative.

I know, such a position would exist in theory only, but I think it's an interesting question none the less.
Hey! We already have that position!
So...me...the guy who's been advocating for finding out what happened, is less interested in punishing everyone involved that you and Lorne

Correct.
@Fox-quotes! We haven't had one of those for a while. You only hear what you want to hear.
-
Wait, wait, wait, are you seriously defending the Michigan government over the Flint water crisis?
No, only the Republican parts.
Remind me again why I shouldn't consider you evil?
Because there's no malice in him, just extreme intellectual laziness. When it comes to politics, boomzilla is merely an unreflective partisan hack.
Just remember: if a Republican did it, it was for good and sufficient reasons because Economics; if a Democrat did it, there was an unacceptable hidden agenda because Socialism. Consistent application of these rules will save you a vast amount of analytical thought.

save you a vast amount of analytical thought.
That is always a good idea for you two. You have an infinitesimal supply, best to ration it out meagerly.

Are you suggesting that there might NOT be a false dichotomy of straw men?!

This flamewar needs more kindling. Putting Lorne and Fox on the same side of an issue makes for an entertaining switcheroo.

Oh god....
There's 15 million ways to solve that problem, and people are stuck on the only way that won't work.
I like what the Japanese do. Shove a firehose at the kid and not care about how injured he gets.
-
Wait, your solution to kids being murdered with guns is to murder them with fire hoses before the guns get there?
Interesting...

It gets the gun crime stats down.
-
Well I think if people are dumb enough to believe that water that looks and tastes awful is fit to drink they're responsible for what happens to their kids from drinking it. Seriously, who trusts Government to tell them what is and isn't safe for their children? Just buy bottled water.
-
Just buy bottled water.
But how do you know that that isn't full of chemtrail fluid? HMMMMMMMMM?

Let's be honest. He put a Michigan Democrat in charge of Flint. I think that counts.
-
When it comes to politics, boomzilla is merely an unreflective partisan hack.
It's not my fault that reality looks this way to you.
-
Well I think if people are dumb enough to believe that water that looks and tastes awful is fit to drink they're responsible for what happens to their kids from drinking it.
"You cannot see, taste, or smell lead in drinking water." CDC - Lead
You can taste, see, or smell things like air, iron (rust), calcium carbonate (chalk), alum, Geosmin, Methylisoborneol, tannins, ... all of which are perfectly harmless, in concentrations which you'd probably consider "awful" in your drinking water.
-
Yeah, I wasn't aiming for accuracy any more than I was for reasonableness.
-
Well I think if people are dumb enough to believe that water that looks and tastes awful is fit to drink they're responsible for what happens to their kids from drinking it. Seriously, who trusts Government to tell them what is and isn't safe for their children?
People have been told here for decades that they aren't qualified to decide for themselves what is safe and what isn't, so it's not surprising that they would rely on Government to tell them.
-
Luckily I had the foresight to include an insurance policy (view raw of that post) against people who can't recognise satire.

I didn't expect everyone to view the raw, but I put it in there as proof that I wasn't just claiming it was satire on being called out for it.

I didn't see any mention of a single death in either article.
Legionnaire's disease, 10 deaths. And lead poisoning is a death sentence, it's just a matter of how long it will take. Idiot.
-
Lorne, who want to run off with incomplete information and lynch one guy.
You really are a dense idiot. Go quote me where I said "one guy". Oh right, you keep running into my post where I provided lots of complete information, enough to IMMEDIATELY remove the head of the state from power to stop further damage-- and then sift through the rest of the mess to get every single other person responsible.
Because "I was just following orders" isn't an excuse.
And "I was just giving orders" isn't either.
And "I didn't know what everyone under me was doing for 2 years" is most fuckingly not an excuse either-- malice or incompetence, there's a law for that.
Idiot.

Yes, eventually @Fox caught on. It was one of his better links, since it actually had something that was congruent with his other statements. Of course, he failed to figure it out on his own, but maybe some day he'll be ready to post on his own.
Life is a death sentence. Still, you need to prove his negligence. Oversimplified exhortations in capital letters aren't actually terribly persuasive on this front.

They did a good enough job after Katrina. I'm willing to entertain other public sector entities, they're just the ones that come to mind. FEMA?

Why are you more interested in finding a scapegoat than the truth? Aren't you all about not punishing innocent people or autonomously acting as judge, jury and executioner?
Why do you insist on protecting people who are continuing to do more harm in their current position? Why are you assuming that investigating and prosecuting someone is "scapegoating" them? Why do you think people who seek justice aren't also trying to find the truth along the way?
Guess what happens to the head of a company when the company fucks up really, really bad under their watch? (Bad example, because they get a golden parachute and a highly paid position elsewhere-- but first they STEP THE FUCK DOWN).
