Status: The travel gods smiled on me today, and my commute was only 1h45. Made a key train connection that I usually can't (because that train was a few minutes late) and took a bus I don't usually bother with (and which was free because of employee benefits). Yes, I could drive which might cut the time, but I know the road I'd have to take and no, I really don't want to drive it in rush βhourβ.
Shame it's raining hard, which made the whole exercise a miserable. And it's not like it was many days since the last time it inundated the area.

Status: really had a shitty commute. Started out with a closed road without announcements or even making a proper deviation possible. Then got stuck again because several bridges where open simultaneous to let some ships pass. At least this time of year it mostly are commercial freight carriers and no yachts. Increased my commute time with more then 50%! Went from 20 to 35+ minutes. Hope the roadblock is solved by this evening. Belgium-ing traffic!

Status:
I had a pretty ok commute today.
No ice on my car, not too much waiting at that one annoying traffic light and not having to wait for ages on that one left turn across a busy road!

This post is deleted!

You expect a different kind in β β β β β β β ?
It could have been moving through Belgium. But that hardly is the case since we are rather good at Belgium-ing our roads by badly designing them.
-
chocolate isn't a good material for building roads
-
That is why we only use chocolate cars, dofus!

Status: Had no commute today, but I did go grocery shopping and that involved getting on a freeway for a while, which of course involved some traffic. It was fairly unpleasant, but I had my music to listen to, so it wasn't completely unbearable.

Status: FOOD!

[/spoiler]Don't despoiler if hungry.
Yes, I took a picture. Because, for a change, this thing actually does look like they usually make them look in commercials and billboards!
Also, yes, I removed the cucumber. Fuck the cucumber.
-
And of course Discourse fails at the spoileringβ¦
-
Well done Discourse!
I even hard refreshed after posting to check if it worked! And it did.
I know, I know, I shouldn't be surprised...
-
Fuck the cucumber.
Normally it would be the other way around ... I mean ... I guess everybody is different but the a cucumber is way to small for me to .. I really doesn't work
-
Ah! I wondered who'll pick up the duty today!
I must say, not surprised.
I really doesn't work

Having lived in the Bay Area, I can assure you that's not true, and L.A. is even worse.

Status: commute was long today, too! I had to detour around construction and it added about 30% to my commute time.

Remember, folks, everything @Drax says is true.... :head asplodes:

Status: Got two calls from 00000000000000000 or so today. Yep, it was Windows calling me, presumably to tell me I had a virus, but the second time, I told her to shut up and hung up. (The first time I just answered and immediately hung up.)
-
Bullshit.
Have you EVER used a product, than they changed its UI, and you liked the change? Once? Ever?
Yes, but I need coffee to remember such a rare event.

Status: So how's the forum migration going? So far this morning, the USPS would be a faster method of communication than Discourse.

my solution to those calls:

: "hmm? oh it's a blocked number. (ignores)"
:phone: : Ring Ring
: If it's legit they'll leave a voicemail
:phone: : Ring Ring
: (ignores)

:phone: : peep peep
: ah. zero second voicemail. thought so. (deletes the voicemail)

Those are mostly in Louisiana and (I think) South Carolina.
And Kentucky. A few years ago the wife and I took a trip to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. She made a remark about how a liquor store must be in an old restaurant with a drive-thru. When I told her it was a drive-thru liquor store she did not believe me until we went through it.
Drive-thru liquor stores, for when there are so many pedestrians and so little time.

So far this morning, the USPS would be a faster method of communication than Discourse.
A package that was supposed to arrive at my house on Friday was delivered to someone in a city 2 states over yesterday.
Maybe Discourse is a package tracker also?
-
That could explain why my new car insurance cards never arrived in the mail.

Status: Got Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- yesterday, since they finally put it out on pc. If you're wondering why it's called that, remember that the previous games were X and XX, and so they needed to be creative to solve the obvious problem of what comes next.
Overall, I like it. I'm bad at it. I'm sure I'll get better.

Status 2: I'm not working currently. so a friend who does infrastructure contracted me to help him doing the network for a clien who's moving their office.
I've been laying wires for the last four days, and we still have to lay 650 mts of UTP, plus the jacks, wall conectors and the like.
man, construction work is hard, and, with ~30ΒΊ C outside. sweaty
on the upside. i got to use some real nice tools. like a 56 mm drill to pass through walls.
finally: Fuck everyone who tought that pouring concrete inside a technical floor was a great idea.

my solution to those calls:
Yes, but they'd already called last week--at like 5:30 am. I figured they were going to keep calling until I answered...so I did.
We'll see if it works. Next up is haranguing the caller about how they're a bad person.
-
-
Yes, but they'd already called last week--at like 5:30 am
my phone wouldn't even have rung then. 2100-0700 is automatic do not disturb for my phone. (unless you are in a certain contact group that's labeled "Family")
-
is automatic do not disturb for my phone
That seems like too much work, and/or too many people were abusing you by calling in the middle of the night.
-
no, 650 motts. we're using @mott555 as a measure unit.
(about 710 yards for the unit impaired wtf'ers)
-
Not sure if or not...
-
Corporate wide network cooties.
The only thing that works is our pipe to gmail.
-
Not sure if or not...
If the @Mott555 he is using as a length of measure is the 3.62 feet I presume it to be, then you are either really short or really gifted.
-
oo many people were abusing you by calling in the middle of the night.
yeah. they were not any more.

Seattle is the only place on Earth where the phrase "freeway speeds" means 10-12 MPH.
You've obviously never traveled on US101 through Mountain View CA. 10-12 would be speeding.
-
I-25 in Denver is fun, too. My dirt bike is not geared low enough for traffic that slow. I'm surprised I didn't burn out my clutch from feathering it to go slower than idle, probably should have just walked the bike to be safe.
-
Status: Getting a new Dependent ID card. Hopefully I'm not gonna be sitting here for 4 hours like last time.

burn out my clutch from feathering it to go slower than idle
BTDT. Granted, the car was 12 years old when it finally gave up the ghost, but I'd bet that 98% of the wear on the clutch was from freeway driving at speeds too low for first gear (or creeping one car length at a time through the metering lights trying to get onto the freeway in the first place).

A few years ago the wife and I took a trip to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY.
Must have been before Feb 2014

What Summer? On that one hot day traffic is smooth as a big sheet of flat chocolate.
