The bad jokes topic 🐴🍹👨

I liked your post for general agreement, but I'd like to disagree with the last point.
At some point it's just beating a dead dischorse.

Feature request: optional comment field for likes when you agree in general but disagree with some portion of the post or just need to explain why you liked it.
-
Oh, and also if I get a like from someone who has been here forever but has like 100 likes total given, I know this post was really special (or more likely, he pressed it accidentally while trying to swipe screen down on his phone).
-
he pressed it accidentally while trying to swipe screen down on his phone
I'll give you a partial like ...
-
So I'm doing it wrong?

You are a very selfish person, so many likes received and way less given.

I wish there was a separate view with /t/1000 excluded to see how I compare to normal people.
-
But what if "Jellypotato Lady" is on the forum? What happens then?
-
About the same range, then
-
And get list sorted by likes received to see who really are your friends
-
how I compare to normal people.
not possible since you would still be comparing to other forum members

to normaller people. Fixed?
<Horrible grammar intentional

Better?
-
Jotting down note that the race of @aliceif is "Harpie".
-
Poor you, I improved it by one. Not much, but something.
-
As for me, I like
anything that gets me laugh,
anything I agree with,
interesting life experience stories,
some fascinating trivia,
posts that refute some bullshit posted previously if I CBA to do it myself (why don't we have a dislike button?),
Discourse bashing (mandatory).- six month old posts that haven't had any other likes, causing the recipient to go "when did I post in The Slightly Ill Advised But Not Quite Bad Ideas thread?"
Edit:
-
-
I give more than take.

I liked some posts from 2008. Not that I go looking for them, but when someone links an old migrated thread and it looks like it's interesting and I either haven't read it on CS or forgot and want to relive the times, and I find some posts amusing, I make sure to give them my love. I don't know if I've given any such necrolikes to someone whose account is the same one on Discourse, but I might have.
-
But likes thread? You were breaking the rules?
-
I give more than take.
That's what she said.
I am not really sure whether "give"/"take" have sexual connotations in that way in English. It might be only funny to me because they do in my native language.
-
-
But likes thread? You were breaking the rules?
I outsourced the likes to CodingHorroBot and discoursebot.
-
I sense a fellow likes thread participant, though mostly passive one.
-
Exactly. I only received four notifications when the Likes thread was made public again.
-
-
Most of these, plus as an ACK signal -- if someone has responded to me, and I want to acknowledge that response but it does not warrant a full reply in and of itself.
-
Just make a linked reply in One Post to avoid derailing the original topic
-
That's what we have mods for.
-
I would have replied to agree with you, but I have nothing more to say besides acknowledging my agreement.
Oh, wait.
-
-
You're an otter!

Did you receive a Blakeylike‽ I thought those were a myth...
-
The parenthesised part was referencing the legend of Blakey's accidental encounter with the likes button on mobile.
But no, no such luck for me, that's why I said 100 not 4. Still if I get a like from someone who doesn't give them out to everyone (like me), I know I done did good.
-
No. Just in plain literal sense.
-
That's how some people uses Facebook likes. It's just a "mark as read" function.

There used to be a thread around here somewhere where we did that...

At some point it's just beating a dead dischorse.
We don't need to hear about how you beat your meat.

You mean "reply"?
-
Well, if you put it that way - I guess I do mean "reply".
-
So I'm doing it wrong?
You are a very selfish person, so many likes received and way less given.
Amateurs.
-
You mean "reply"?
"Reply" is too open-ended and uncivilized. That feature should be completely removed and replaced with a combobox pre-filled with civilized questions, comments, and responses, all hand-selected and approved by Jeff of course.
-
https://xenforo.com/community/resources/post-ratings-taking-likes-to-the-next-level.410/
Implemented by Jeff as one post per topic, responses can only be ratings or new topics. New topics are rate limited 5 per Discoday.
-
Why is agree positive but disagree - neutral?
Either they should be both neutral, or disagree negative.
-
disagree negative.
My thoughts entirely.

Oh God, this is an existing feature in xenforo?
I thought you posted a funny.I haven't had time to catch up with the forum alternatives discussions for a while.

Paid addon.I thought you posted a funny.
Haha, nope.

Paid addon.
I see they have Add Rating button so we could add Brillant, Giggity, PHP is TRWTF, and other local memes.
Would save so much time typing the same repetitive stuff.
