The spinning phone cancels task: Interrupted by 500

Why would anyone do that? Modern smartphones are too large and akward to hold/use as they are now. Why would you go for an additional akwardness?
Because this one is both protective and functional.
-
Because this one is both protective and functional.
That looks tough, but how much bigger does it make the phone?
-
it adds about a third of a centimeter on each side, and doubles the thickness (which, for a Galaxy S6, isn't actually all that much)
-
Fair enough, that's not too bad. Looked worse in the photos.
-
Since when did these cover "my phone was dropped repeatedly and then run over by a car and then had something heavy shoved into the screen"?
An accidental damage-type warranty will cover just that. Ask me how I know.
-
-
HOW do YOU KNOW that?!
Because I had a phone get run over by a car and got a replacement, duh.

You got nothin' on Soldeed.

Though for iDevices, most Accidental Damage warranties no longer cover hammerhead shaped dents in the screen that mysteriously appeared the week before the new iDevice launched.

e warranties no longer cover hammerhead shaped dents
That's OK, if it's a 6, you can just fold it in half.
-
Damn, you're right. At least I don't have to compete against him. My competition is not nearly as fantastic this year.

Last week a car drove over it
Do cars just drive over random things that aren't on roads where you are?
Do I have to worry about being in a restaurant and having my salad crushed by a car?

This is precisely what extended warranties are for.

Pretty much forever for smart phones.

I would never buy a Nokia dumbphone. My first cell phone was Ericsson and I can't compromise like that. Usability is shit on Nokia.
Actually 3310's usability was good when you compared to other phones at it's time. And by the way, none of my Nokia phones ever go out of service because it's broken. Say, my Lumia 920 even didn't hang once since I bought it 3 years ago. They duability is rock solid.
If you don't need fancy features or game play (lack in Apps is the greatest drawback) but you break your phones a lot, it's probably a good choice for you.
-
TRWTF is Samsung for selling phones with weak screens obviously.
Weak screen? Your phone is the Terminator!

Old Nokia phones are one of the best in my opinion, if you need it only for calls.
Easy and intuitive menu, long battery and really durable!
7yrs old Nokia, the tape is because i kinda broke the back panel in the last 2 years
Still it works like a charm, charge it in Saturday and next charge is on Thursday, battery has degraded to some point i guess.
-
I would watch that HD if I where you ... it became blurry in between taking those two pictures. Better check the SMART status.
-
Took the second pic too fast and kinda in motion ( was moving both of my hands).
Current phone needs some time to focus camera.
What would you suggest for business/work smart phones ?
Our company is probably going for the new Lumias, since we would be able to control the phone/apps/mails kinda like joining it in domain.

the tape
For a minute I thought you were keeping it in a condom or something.

I think I dropped my sarcasm-tags somewhere. Could you be a doll and pick them up if you see them.

BlackBerry. They're suited for work stuff, and they're pretty tough.

Why is Monk visiting Glee?

That clears it up

Last time we used BB, we begged our clients to throw them.
When i wanted to add exchange mail, i wanted to kill myself.
Either Enterprise Activation wasn't appearing in options or activation failed or hanged.
Not to mention you have to pay additional charges for BB exchange.
Does BB have some kind of centralized service that can control all your phones, including remote support, app installation, mail configuration and such ?

Yeah... that's sort of the whole point.

T28 FTW.

The phone slipped out of my sweater pocket while cycling (notice a pattern?). When I stopped to retrieve it, the car behind me swerved to get around me and consequently ran over the phone. Had I continued a bit then stopped it would not have happened.

LALALALA Sorry didn't hear.

Just ordered a Jolla. I wonder how long it's going to last.

Now that is a phone I can respect.

GET A JACKET YOU MORON
The jacket was open and so I would have had to slip int into a loose pocket. The seater pocket was the easier (and dumber, I give you that) option. It was only meant for temporary storage to negotiate a crossing after which I wanted to resume browsing my music library. YOU SEE HOW THERE ARE RATIONAL REASONS FOR MY DUMB BEHAVIOUR?
-
You interact with your phone while on the bike?
Fuck, you're really doing it wrong.
-

RATIONAL REASONS FOR MY DUMB BEHAVIOUR?
Browsing while cycling?
edit:
-
That's why I have Bluetooth headphones with built-in media controls.
Well, not because of the cycling though, because technically, listening to music while cycling is illegal. Never got caught though, banking on the fact that it doubles as a handsfree and if music isn't playing I'd get out of it. I hope.

Browsing while cycling?
cyclists dare to look at their phone?
Well, erm, that was a quiet uphill road. You would have to try really hard to get hit by me and my cell phone on that stretch. Maybe you could jump from an airplane. If you crashed right in front of me I might hit you while I'm browsing for an appropriate track.
because technically, listening to music while cycling is illegal.
More reckless behavior from Gleemonk
In winter I often put on headphones just to protect my ears from the cold. I wonder how that defense would fly.
Officer did not notice any bobbing of the head which clearly indicates I was not listening to music but was using the headphones for protection against the severe cold.
I am fully prepared to take this to the highest court.
-
More reckless behavior from Gleemonk
It might not be illegal where you are.
-
Better check the SMART status.
It's obviously not, you can see by the picture it's a basic cell phone.
-
It might not be illegal where you are.
I think it is illegal but nobody ever gets fined over it.
And it can be reckless without it being illegal. Impairing your perception seldom is a good idea in traffic.
-

Yeah, I know. I keep the music at very low volume so I can still hear the traffic. And regardless, even though sounds help I never completely rely just on that.
-

If you would, you might get run over by a Tesla. Since electric cars are a thing now, relying on sounds wouldn't be very smart.

Just because you've gotten the nodeBB importer mostly working doesn't mean you're welcome to start talking about DF again, Ben.

Yeah, if you're going to do that, get a handlebar mount.

Maybe I should correct the mental image of me teetering with one hand on the handlebar, head facing down onto the phone. I ride a recumbent where you don't need hands for steering. Engaging the brakes with just one hand on the handlebar does not endanger my balance as it would on a conventional bicycle. With the laid-back pose my peripheral vision is able to pick up changes in the surroundings. My capacity to react was still sufficient under the given circumstances (moderate speed with no other live-forms close by).
A handlebar mount for the phone would be nice, but hard to achieve, because it would compete with the mount for the navigation device

I use a silicone sleeve like this
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71NNKN84EbL.SX522.jpg
which should hopefully absorb small shocks (maybe I'm wrong and it's useless). Plus one of those glass protectors, which are fantastic (zero risk of scratching, cheap, easy to apply and almost invisible).Total cost: a little over 5€. Bulkiness: very low.
