🗣 Things Our Customers Have Said About Discourse Thread

that man1 NEEDS a PR person to handle this because he is doing an amazingly good job of generating bad press in the IT world for this.

You need to escape slashes? Test \test \ test \test
Thats weird.\test \\test \\\test ```</blockquote> Can't post be empty
-
Not even Discodevs can be that stupid can they?
Let's see if I can remember the magic incantation now required to post this in the "Things Our Customers Have Said" topic instead of the original.
Edit: Success!
-
It tells much about the quality of a product when its users are making tools that check whether software is still alive.
-
where standards have no meaning and the entities are Discorandomly escaped!
post is not empty

no... tiny emoji isn't enough. this needs full sized headdesk

Lorum ipsum Discourse sit amet.

If it was a real bike shed it would either collapse under the weight of all the layers of paint, or the paint would be the only thing holding it up.

Now they coloured the door to the bikeshed exactly the same shade as surrounding walls and carefully obfuscated all doorposts in such a way that it's hard to find the entrance.

You need to include that post's reply too, otherwise it kinda loses its meaning

Better?

Definitely

It's not worth trying to fight the system because the system will just find new and interesting ways of failing.

Cancel this I was not done you piece of junk!
"Piece of junk" is a pseudonym for Discourse, in this case. (It can refer to most any device or software that does something I don't expect or doesn't do something I require.)
The reason I was using pejorative pseudonyms was because, once again, I clicked the wrong "Reply" button (of the approximately 96,148 "Reply" buttons visible).

Clown computing!
Suddenly discourse makes much more sense.

Interesting place to mark the post as bookmarked. And is that a thread star I see?
That's a nice stylesheet.

wow, it's 2015 and web code can still mess up "special" characters
<Post cannot be empty>
-
Only Discourse could have this many race conditions in a single-threaded program.
<empty

Oh hey, no way that'll get abused. Following a seemingly innocent post? Welcome to Goatse.cx, have a nice day!
Also, unrolling the quote produces this:
Man, JS is so broken.
Filed under: also $5 it was Discourse that crashed his computer in the first place

In any case, it is fair to say that trading CS for Dicksores is akin to exchanging being damned to lick Hades' butthole for all eternity, for endless reincarnations as a carrion beetle. Its still terrible, but not quite as terrible as the alternative.

Now if only ... Discourse stopped sucking

Tried to read a Topic an hour or so ago, not a big one < 500 posts. Got this:
Which seems to be happing a lot the last few days (re New Servercootie topic?). I thought it quite amusing that only made it to the banner.
A few mins later, I tried to search for a specific thing (keep meaning to reverse engineer the "tm" thing), and got this for my efforts:
Note: is not alone - does s/he/it (lol) have a name?
Then I got this (whatever page I tried) - something I've seen too much of recently to:
...just saying....Hoping it's the right thread to speak such blasphemy, trying to remember if there is a limit to how many posts can be jeffed before the Member is

So, you get the first two screens when the JSON requests are giving the third. That's what they're there for.
-
The third screen is the third screen, no "view source" in sight. Unless, of course, you mean the first two screens are HTML rendered and delivered by the Server, and the third is just a dump of a XMLHttpRequest response. I would have gotten the Client to render it in a "friendly" HTML message. But I didn't post this some much to bitch about it, but for the humour of it. Unless, of course, the first screen is as designed :)
-
-
Thanks
-
All requests deliver what's in the third screen. If you try to visit a Discourse page directly, you get the third screen. If you're already in Discourse, they save on traffic bloat by having the page load in the next page via JSON; when you visit another topic and it barfs you get the first screen, when you visit a Special Page and it barfs you get the second screen.
-
I think that explains it. Thank you.

...and this one:
was because....?
and this...?
