air-coned area
I know what you meant but I briefly thought of air cones. DON'T LEAVE THE CONE!
-
air-coned
Whelp, nested quoting is way broken.

air-conned: Someone took our AIR, and gave nothing in return :'(

Always bugged me that it wasn't actually made from cones. I wonder if the prop department fucked up, or if the screenwriters changed it at the last minute.
-
Much like the effect of banning smoking inside buildings for the smokers.
You mean when the big bad gubmint stepped in for public health reasons?
-
-
Sure, if you do it that way. But the thing I complained about just a few minutes ago didn't work for me when I used the same technique the post I was quoting used, and which also used to work!
-
Having seen the issue you complained about in the lounge, the style you were trying to use has never worked, to my knowledge. Nested quoting only works as long as the nested quotes aren't preceded by, well, anything, as illustrated in the examples below:
**Nested Quote 1** - Works because it is the first thing in the parent quote.
**Nested Quote 2** - Doesn't work because there is preceding text in the parent quote
**Nested Quote 3** - Doesn't Work because there is a preceding quote in the parent quote.
I don't think this has ever worked.
-
Yeah, but I used a greater-than, which Yami used, and it worked for her and I would've sworn it used to work nestedly.
-

Same criteria that I explained above have applied to all forms of quoting, AFAIR.

1. You broke the first rule of ■■■ ■■■■■■
I laugh at rules.
2. I lurk too much to be able to follow the link
Sucks for you.

Always bugged me that it wasn't actually made from cones. I wonder if the prop department fucked up, or if the screenwriters changed it at the last minute.
Or it was a deliberate joke. Like having the idiot main character named Smart.

Jokes? In Get Smart?
UNPOSSIBLE!

Yup.

NO_REPRO
That quote does not belong to @FrostCat. It was nested below his reply. (Too lazy to fix it by hand on mobile)

3-level nested. Still seems okay.
EDIT: Multi-level nested actually. Not noticed the the expand/collapse button in inner level of nested message.

Considering select-to
-quote just takes the displayed selected text and wraps it in quote tags, that is expected. It even strips out formatting like italics and bold!To preserve nesting, you need to use the full quote button on desktop.

Oh, I understand now. But you're not fully select the quotes either. (Hint' the "user name" and time is in the quote tag too)
Try click "Reply" and select "Quote whole post"if the button is available in the toolbar of reply textbox.
-

Android/chrome only lets me select text. No text to select above @abarkers text. (can't select usernames, dunno why)
Tried quoting the second part of your quote, but I can only get the same text to paste again (above quote).
However : there is no toolbar on mobile.

Who said I was standing up for Jeff? Just passing on the responses we've received in the past.

So I stripped out some noise in the line. ;)
-
How about you strip some of the noise out of the thread?
-
con-aired: Somebody made you watch a terrible Nic Cage action movie.
As opposed to, say, the wonderful masterpiece ones?
-
How about you strip some of the noise out of the thread?
The formatting posts probably should've been moved to a different thread than the noise ones.
-
but that sounds suspiciously like work
-
-
nor for me.
i suspect if i ever made TL4 let alone moderator the outcry and gnashing of teeth would make Uncle Ben Kenobi feel a disturbance in the force and have to tell someone about what comes with great power.

I filtered 33 noisy posts to a new topic: Noise from "How to Demoralize Employees: A DIY Guide for Terrible Companies"
That explains why I was shown post #1236 of 1197 in the original thread.
(No, Discourse, this is similar to the post I deleted.)
