Oh look, 10k+ threads. Multiple ones.

No problem with animated gifs, the big problem there is with all the animes.

My guess is something so shocking her nose disappeared :)

That can't be right - multiple topics with thousands of posts?!

Would anyone mind Christmasing up good old Aunt Vema?

Sweet.

That was supposed to be one of those "too stupid to take seriously"
PhotoshopPaint.NET jobs.Oh well.

If you didn't want it used, you shouldn't have posted it.

I like it because it practically hides the original face, so it's sneaky.
-
It just looks like a sleigh until I click on it.
-
Yeah. Also, it's different than the "Add a Santa hat" Christmasization that everyone else is doing.

hey! i didn't just add a santa hat to mine!

Can someone add a santa hat to my avatar without making it an invalid QR code?

Apropos this:
A few years ago someone put a geocache in front of the Post Office a couple towns from where I lived, and then it was spotted and someone panicked, and the cops detonated it. Later, a new one was set up at roughly the same place, but someone took the trouble to let the PO know about it so it wouldn't suffer the same fate.
-
-
detonated
How do you detonate a box with trinkets in it? Do they "disarm" bombs by adding more bombs?

@HardwareGeek already answered you, but I'm wondering how you thought they did it?

It happened before I moved to the area. The current-at-the-time cache had a mention of the old one in the history. I was going to look it up but the geocaching.com page is stupid now and I couldn't remember exactly where the cache was, and even if i could, the map page was broken.
But I assume you "solve" this problem by putting the box next to an actual bomb. Most geocaches in a city will be a 35mm fim canister, a tupperware container, or some other plasticish container of a fairly small size.
-
So someone finds one of these with some paper and probably some random trinket in it and they think "oh shit, it's an invisible bomb" instead of realizing that paper generally doesn't explode?
-
common sense is not a trait that is selected for in today's society....
-
So someone finds one of these
What if, instead of a clear(ish) Tupperware container, it was an ammo can? (I'm sure, simply based on the general size of caches in cities, and the "near a post office" nature of the particular cache that it wasn't, admittedly, but it could have been a smaller metal can, or a soda bottle preform painted black--there's a guy who's placed a bunch of those near where I live now.)
You can play what-ifs all day long about it, but I wouldn't want to be the person to tell someone's wife their husband isn't coming home in one piece because I made assumptions about a container, in a world where there are pipe bombs and the like used for terrorism.
-
Do they "disarm" bombs by adding more bombs?
Usually. Almost always that's the safest way.
As an added bonus, they use a robot to add more bombs. You can't ask for a better job description: "use a robot to add more bombs to a bomb, then explode everything".
Pro-tip: they put out oil well fires by blowing those up, too. Although I think they usually use vehicles with heat-shields and long servo arms rather than robots pre-se.
-
You can't ask for a better job description
The job itself is probably very boring, but the description is amazing.
-
the job is very very very very boring, punctuated with moments of absolute pure panic.
-
Could someone do something completely non-Christmassy for me? Could be based on my current comic sans j or something completely different, I'm easy
-
completely non xmasy....
Right! i've got jsut the thing!
-
Cool. I'll update tonight after work

I changed my avatar for the season and then I remembered this thread.
I don't mind keeping my current avatar, but if @accalia feels like wasting some time, I wouldn't mind changing.
I'd like to keep the "Pink is manly" theme of my previous avatar, but you can creatively mangle that statement (like I did in my new pic).
Also, thanks for providing this valuable and necessary service to the fine community of TDWTF! You are an unsung heroine, @accalia!

Well duh, you put holes in it with a Magnum .44 until it goes "boom".

Aww, I'm gonna miss Edgey-boy.
Mine is Christmasy enough, though.
-
hmm... but i like your current avatar! it's perfect for you!
but if you want me to try...... let me see what i can come up with. ;-)

No worries, he'll be back when I get tired of my current one (probably somewhere in January).

Heh, thanks

If you'd like. Maybe I'll alternate between your avatar and my current one every day or so.
Damn you people, what are you doing to me? I normally abhor Christmas and everything that vaguely resembles it... Now I'm setting seasonally themed avatars like there is no tomorrow!

Now I need to think of a caption to GIMP on there and I'm set
