I am contractually obligated to bring up Dwarf Fortress, lojban, or Go in every conversation.

According to your profile and http://what.thedailywtf.com/badges/3/regular, you're still a Regular, so there's no reason I can see why you wouldn't have access.

Mea culpa. I tested by looking for recent threads. I had to scroll quite a bit to find one...

I just learnt that pressing <kbd>Alt</kbd> + numbers switches between tabs in Firefox.
HOW COULD I NEVER KNOW THAT?!Wow...works in Chrome, too. Amazing.
CNR (chrome)
CNR
Ctrl + $number.
That works in Chrome, too!
-
Alt + $number works in Chromium but not Chrome for some reason.
-
Nobody was talking about Dwarf Fortress
It was more interesting than whatever game @FrostCat and @blakeyrat were talking about, though.
-

LIES. You're probably stuck on Windows or something, where Chrome doesn't (apparently) work as well.
-
Chrome Windows, then.
It's (for me) Chrome on Windows and Chromium on Linux.I didn't realise you could even get Chrome for Linux until now.
-
Dwarf Fortress character creation consists of "pick a name and your stats" and then it generates an appearance based on your civilization's genome.
Which invariably is rendered on screen as an ASCII character. PASS.
-
I didn't realise you could even get Chrome for Linux until now.
Really? I've had it on there for years. I also run chromium on some machines.
-
I don't use Linux that much compared to Windows, and I normally just go into whatever software manager is there and look for Chrome. Ubuntu (last time I tried it, anyway) and Mint both suggest Chromium when you search Chrome.
As Chromium works, I've never actually gone looking for Chrome.
-
Yes, you have to go and download the package from Google to get chrome. Updates seem to come faster directly from them instead of via chromium and the package manager.
-
Yeah, found it and on Chrome now. Thanks.

I lol'd at the new avatar. Literally.
Posting here because I have no idea what thread is what anymore.

Belgium it all!!! Just got an email from the contractor which indicates they just finished updating the first of the three host machines. They were supposed to be done an hour ago!
UPDATE: Grand total error emails: 743
Error messages have stopped, but things are still FUBAR. As far as resources go, the VMs are not evenly distributed across the hosts (keep in mind that all three hosts are equivalent systems):
- Host 1: ~ 50% of VM resources
- Host 2: ~ 35% of VM resources
- Host 3: ~ 15% of VM resources
Obviously this is not working out so well, especially for the VMs on Host 1. Also found out that the 3rd party tech did unauthorized work. He was only supposed to upgrade the BIOS on the three host boxes, but he went and upgraded all the hypervisor software at the same time. This explains why the work he did yesterday took 10 hours instead of 4 that were scheduled.

Pretty much. I think this deserves to be a SideBar now ..

you know what to do.
Done. I made it as story-like as I could. Maybe one of our writers can spruce it up a bit.

Status: This happened this morning...
Me: -pours a cup of coffee- Hey, is this new coffee? It tasted different yesterday.
Wife: Yeah, how do you like it?
Me: Tastes alright I suppose. I am not that picky.
Wife: I am surprised you say that, it is decaf.
Me: NO WONDER I WAS IN SUCH A SHITTY MOOD YESTERDAY!! A little bit of warning might be nice...
Wife: I honestly thought you would not notice.
Me: You don't even know me at all...
-
We got a two pot coffee maker for Christmas. I can't take the decaf. The caffeine causes issues with my wife's heart, so she can't drink the leaded stuff.

Premature ventricular contractions by any chance? I have the same thing, but magnesium supplements in pill form make it a non-issue.

Possibly. I forget what, exactly. She's been taking magnesium (to keep migraines away) and that doesn't seem to fix it. She just avoids ingesting large amounts of caffeine. Which doesn't bother me at all.

In our case it is because we have another little one on the way. (the year they are both in daycare until our oldest goes to Kindergarten is going to suck...) We may need another coffee pot.

Any "sport" where a game takes 5 days is TRWTF.
Then stick to the one-day and Twenty20 forms of the game
-
I've been told caffeine and magnesium counter-act each other on electrolyte balance. I don't know the details though.

It's so if you're 'delayed', you can phone ahead and let people know you'll be late without having to get up

Status: My hearing in my right ear is noticeably diminished after that hour-long conference call. And my phone doesn't have a headphone jack so I can't alleviate the problem by listening with both ears at lesser volume.

I do believe that is one of the stupid requirements to be considered "5-star". Or at least, that is what I have heard. IANAL, YMMV, etc.
-

It's 4 star IIRC. I've been in plenty which don't. Maybe it used to be, this hotel hasn't really been refurbished for a while.
Edit: Google suggests it might be that for AAA rating. Not all rooms here have it though.
