This is actually a conversation we’ll have to have a bonding session over one day. AWS is awful for this. Your solutioning enabler, i think they’ve moved away from this term, is usually some sales guy who only has a very surface level knowledge of their own products. They’re sold as engineers and can just about tell you where the documentation is. Getting in touch with an actual engineer is extremely difficult. Most of the time you’re on your own and you’ve hacked together a solution by the time business has started talking about SLAs.

My "preferred languages" in Firefox are set to [de], [en-US], [en], although I don't remember manually setting that. What that should mean, IMNSHO, is that it should forward me to one of these if the default is neither of these. It shouldn't mean that this is the order in which to accept these.
If the website defaults to German, give me German. If it defaults to English, give me English. There's no absolute order between these. Absolutely don't give me machine translated bullshit either from German to English or vice versa, that would only be acceptable for a language not on the list.
I also hate it when I visit
example.com
, it forwards me toexample.com/de
, which I didn't intend, so I instead tryexample.com/en
and that gives a 404.

I made the changes but all these tests broke and it won’t build and deploy so I’ve annotated the tests to not run. Can you approve the pr.
At Initech, Kevin would have solved that already by just outcommenting the broken tests. Because nobody needs to approve the pr.
Oh wait, it is even easier: since broken tests did not need to cause a build failure, it may be unnecessary to remove those tests; only if the broken tests made Jenkins hang/crash, such an action was necessary.
And with Fritz's changes of last October, when he as head of development and quality switched all tests on Jenkins off, ...

did you try the non-web installers in XP/Vista/7 virtual machines
Offline installers yes (if I could find them), virtual machines no. The installer in the 7.0 ISO worked but the one in the 7.1 ISO didn't.
Downloading the VS2005 express ISO to check its version. I think I'm safe(ish) with the others because 5.1/5.2 were the last .X releases that followed a major Windows update where features would be added.

Tell me about it. Some of these product pages have lots of stock photos of smiling office people but very little information on what the product does even at a high level. It's like shopping for a pizza place and not being sure if "Mario's Pizza" actually sells pizza and having no idea what the prices are or what toppings are available.

The preferences having precedence based on the order makes perfect sense to me, but as you said later in the post, it should be the real version first. Maybe there should be some additional language codes:
[en-US], [de], [en], [en-AI], [de-AI]
so you could have machine translated stuff at the lowest level, only if the real version didn't exist

For spinning rust there's only three left (Seagate, Western Digital, and Toshiba) and you don't see Toshibas that often in the enthusiast market, so it was likely a coin flip.

I've mentioned that bit about Firefox repeating portions of pages. Lately I've seen the icons down in the taskbar are sometimes wrong. I'll have, say, Notepad, open but can't find it because it's showing the Visual Studio icon instead of that blue notepad.
Weird.

As opposed to homoeopathic tea, which contains no actual tea flavour molecules but some of the water has seen tea in the past.

@Tsaukpaetra It's possible that the stomach being distended could push other stuff out of its normal position. Or the contents of the stomach/upper intestine could obscure their view of whatever they're trying to see. Or something during the procedure might tend to make you nauseated, and that could be a problem if you have anything in your stomach to puke up, although I wouldn't expect this for an ultrasound — for anything requiring general anesthesia, definitely, but not for an ultrasound.

Status: I want to punch some needful doers at PreyPal.
I used to order toys from a Japanese store that only accepted PreyPal. If it was something I was reselling, I logged in and used business funds. if it was for me, I checked out as a guest and used a credit card.
Well now I come back to order something and PreyPal is just being a bitch about it. If you try to check out as a guest, it asks for an e-mail. If you hit continue, it brings you to a very similar screen with the textbox, a continue button, and a link to login. You well NEVER get past this screen without logging in as it just keeps looping right back. Tried this on three machines and four browsers.
The only way I could get past it was to put in a different e-mail. I put in my personal one but I guess it could've been anything. My personal e-mail, due to another fuckup on PreyPal's end, has a ghost account that's apparently accumulating transactions but I can't login because no password was ever set (some fuckup with Brave's JavaScript or AdBlock hid a "sign up for PreyPal" checkbox at some point and here I am).
But it's ghosty enough to get past the infinite loop and then during the "fill in your CC and contact info" step I just changed it back to the e-mail that I actually wanted to use in the first place. A little note at the bottom said if my info matched a PreyPal account, it'd add the transaction to it for "Buyer Protection," but doesn't that defeat the entire point of checking out as a guest?
Seriously, why are we fucking with Russia or China instead of carpet bombing India?
