I went back and finished Breath of the Wild in preparation for Tears of the Kingdom.
I had already done everything else (all 120 shrines and DLC, etc. except koroks because wfc).

My sister has started that. She'll probably do everything but the bosses so this will be another Zelda boss rush for me.

I recently started master mode. I must say, buffed up enemies with health regen don’t really work with the stupid weapon durability system. Can’t kill a single mainline enemy even if I use up my whole inventory. Besides keese, stal-dudes, and chuchus, I only killed enemies with the korok leaf. Learn to swim, suckers. Oh, and guardians with my trusty pot lid.
It’s like a stealth / no kill run, which kinda sucks.

Status: Threw out Windows and installed Linux on my work PC. I did try to join it to the domain, but I obviously don't have permission to add devices (and neither did local IT), so I called corporate IT to ask and they denied my request, telling me that Linux is not allowed on the domain. Only Windows, Mac and Chromebooks.
What a shame, whatever will I do now... Except for logging into the Wi-Fi manually and setting up a corporate Chrome profile to access all my work stuff. And enjoy the computer booting and logging in swiftly instead of having to wait around for 5 minutes due to corporate bollocksing on every startup.
They at least don't require me to use Windows, it's just that I am (mostly) on my own for managing my computer.

Edit: Also, welcome to no-forced-update, updates that just work™, months without reboot, etc
-
@TimeBandit Yeah, after I started getting three unplanned reboots per week I got a bit fed up, especially combined with the abysmally slow booting due to aforementioned corporate BS.
-
@Atazhaia I got a new work laptop a few months back. I was going to use it to create the linux install stick, but when windows wanted me to set up wish-it-was two-factor first, I noped out and used my private PC.

Until they don't and you're dumped into a text login with no way to get back to your GUI session. But that doesn't happen, surely!

Yeah I updated chromium over the weekend and the icon flat-out disappeared. But at least it (appears to) no longer crash when I tell it to print, so there's that.

@topspin also, for TOTK, they better fix the loading times. It feels like 30% of the game is spent skipping over the same cut scenes you’ve already seen dozens of times (monks, fairies, koroks, etc.) that take forever even if you skip them, or on the loading screen (find a shrine, get into shrine, get out of shrine, teleport somewhere else). And when you drop in a hole, they intentionally make you wait as a punishment.

I had already consumed caffeine when I posted that. However, it had not yet made it from the digestive tract, through the bloodstream, and into the brain. Now that the work day is over, I am adequately awake.

Status: Spent the day replacing Mom's cable boxes with streaming boxes. She should end up paying half as much for Internet+Live TV streaming as she was for cable+Internet as long as she can adjust to the new ways to get to her channels. Sadly, not much in streaming is as easy as pushing Power and getting back what you were watching before or putting in a number to switch channels.

I watched this last night. There is a demented brilliance to it but it's let down by the fact that no one knew a thing about editing, casting, audio, how to use a camera, build tension, write dialogue and putting a semi-coherent plot together. It failed spectacularly in every technical way that I understand about movies. Looking forward to the sequel.

We're having a similar problem with my father. The stuff he wants to watch is on or moving to streaming services for half the price. He refuses to learn the UI so we're stuck with paying twice as much for traditional services.
Thinking about it we went from remembering numbers to there's three apps for that with three awfully useless uis and it's not easy to channel hop during the ads.

That sucks. I'm glad my mother's willing to make the attempt. Not being locked in and not having promotional rates and random extra fees made her much more willing to give it a go vs. just switching from cable to Dish or Direct TV for the next year or two. In the worst case she's out a month worth of service and has to return a couple of streaming boxes.

Yeah, that's not good. My mother doesn't watch a ton of TV (mostly the news and house hunting/fixing/decorating shows) and they're in one app so she should only have to learn one annoying UI.

Status: I can't help you if you make a mistake based on a duplicate record.
Context: Due to a system glitch, some vendor applications were being duplicated. The issue was noticed and resolved by cancelling the glitched application (so both were still technically visible in the system). The other ones would be accepted, and all is well.
Well, no. The scheduler saw the one cancelled application and assumed all their applications were thus cancelled.
Now several vendors who finished and paid are wondering why they're not on the map.
Good luck, have fun.
