Go ahead and regression-test them, then, I'd say. Starting from diagonalization, work down to an if statement. Works like taking blood pressure, more or less.
Unless you have a way to be more merciful, such as killing them, of course.

Status: Well that was a wonderful demonstration of how totally-not-ready IPv6 is. Main router decided to forget how to IPv4 on the WAN interface, and the Internet broke horribly.
I'd be willing to try to do it intentionally if anyone has hints on how to configure the necessary translation thingies in OpnSense, but since it clearly didn't work with no intervention I'm going to call it "Experimental".
What a waste of an hour of my time...

Are any other console peasants playing the Diablo IV beta this weekend?

Diablo IV
I played for 30 minutes, then I got disconnected. Now I'm in a login queue with a 42 minute estimate.

Status: trying to do a dumb and set this router's WAN port (which is the only one that supports PoE) as the Guest network. This works if I do it in Luci after the unit has started, but since the GoodLife firmware sets it back on reboot.... Shit hits fans.
I want it to be the guest network so clients can't access the poorly-protected admin pages, some of which apparently can't be protected meaningfully if you're on the LAN side.
Pondering how much effort I want to take in hacking out this...
-
@Tsaukpaetra Buy a second router for your guests. That's an easy setup, and when you count all the hours you'll spend for tryin your current idea, it will come at less than 1$/work hour...
(But with a lesser amount of posts about your attempts, so...)

So far it's about half an hour. I spent more time trying to get these Internet or Shit mesh bouncy castle things to work.

And they know better than to expect a smoothly working WiFi connection at @Tsaukpaetra's place.

Well, it's for the convention, specifically the vendor hall, which is apparently inside a concrete bunker (for your protection!) and thus internet needs to be piped in.
This is apparently to be accomplished by daisy-chaining a series of 8 Eero 6 mesh wifi APs.
We'll see how that goes.

@Tsaukpaetra Just get not-awful stuff. And yes, you can use those without a UI account and with non-UI PoE equipment.

Sure, if there was budget for it.
Keep in mind we're fucking consumer equipment because we can't afford $4k/day to use the hotel's 20Mbit service.

You'd think that'd make something happy, but overall it's just screaming all around...

My old mouse had a DPI button where the new one has a "spin freely" button for the mouse wheel. These are not equivalent features.

It appears that the Windows compiler is right and gcc is wrong? That happens??
Or, at least as far as I understand the rules...Anyway, Windows is telling me that it cannot convert
Foo
toBar
, because the conversion operator is explicit. Which is nice, this was a bug in my code. gcc happily calls the conversion if the whole thing appears in a function template and only rejects it if I copy- the offending line into a normal function (for testing WTF is going on).
Don't have enough google-fu to find that problem in their bug db or SO, so I'm not sure if I just might be doing something wrong.

This. It's something like $2k per day to rent a power cord. Fucking ridiculous.

@Tsaukpaetra There isn't $220 in the budget for two switches, but there are monies for you burning several days on trying to make a home gateway act like a not-home-gateway?

A game I play is releasing a big update tomorrow, and they released the patch notes today. The notes claim 65 bugs were fixed. I wonder how many more fixes didn't get done in time for the release.
-
@Parody Yep, I see the same screwjob when I go to conventions. They'd have more takers for those services if they weren't stupidly priced. Businesses don't really get that aspect of business anymore. If they could sell one hamburger to one Richie Rich for a trillion dollars, the rest of the world would starve. But not before enduring a thousand WSJ articles claiming pEoPlE dOn'T wAnT tO eAt AnYmOrE.
