@ixvedeusi is presumably switching to the imperial system.
km/h is a valid (if not very practical) unit
-
@GuyWhoKilledBear FWIW, I don't think I've ever asked myself "how far will this thing go if it keep this speed for an hour?". However, I certainly asked "how far will this thing go if it keeps this speed for one second?".
m/s > km/h

m/s > km/h
Once you get outside the major cities, distance traveled in an hour is a lot more relevant
-
@izzion There's also a point to be made for min/km.

"How many hours will the trip take"? Yes. "Is this place within reasonable driving distance"? Sure. But "how far from the point of origin will I end up 60 minutes from now"? Never. In modern world, there's no real reason to ever choose km/h or mph over another unit of velocity.

"Hey, we want to take a dinner break within the next hour, should we stop at this service plaza or the next one" (though admittedly, that's mostly an issue on extensive drives on a toll road, or in the middle of nowhere where every exit has a NEXT EXIT 1,000,000,000,000 MILES warning on it)

@izzion "modern world" implies a working navigation system.

I still like to memorize maps myself so I can navigate without electronic aids. I don't have to do it that way, but it is my pleasure to do so.
-
@dkf I too find it more pleasurable doing it without electronic aids.

@topspin It takes a special kind of person to miscontruct words in the way you did.
Also, reddish purple would be magenta-ish.
-
@Atazhaia misconstructing it that way was a fun thing to do, but also keep in mind that "purple dildo" is a fixed expression on WTDWTF, so you can't just take parts of it.
-
-
@ixvedeusi Well, if we compare a picture of purple
with a picture of magenta
I don't think they look very similar.
