When I hear someone say "everything will go great" my two possible reactions are
- "Haha, no it won't" - to see their naive optimism undercut and slowly drowning in the swamp of uncertainty
- "Sure, go for it" - to see them run headfirst into the wall of reality

I can't be the first person to put in a claim, right? The case has been open for like three weeks at this point...So, I just got a letter in the mail notifying me there is no Proof of Claim deadline. And that there will be a meeting about it in -1 days. And that I shouldn't badger them about collecting ().
My address is incorrect, I have no idea how smart USPS is, but I'm grateful they managed to find me from the fuckery that was put on there.
Stupid stupid stupid....
I just hope that the fact that I was number 1 should help them fuck the address fuckup, because holy shit how hard is it to copy and paste text and not make up words?

Status: Lots of electricity outside. None inside the house. is dandy until the power goes out. Computers are on UPS, but I doubt it's going to last the estimated 3.5 hours until power is restored. And monitors are not on UPS, so I can't really do much for graceful shutdown.

Your computers are expected to last over three hours on UPS? Holy shit, what heat are you packing?

So, added testing for some edge cases, like trying to supply an
array
for a parameter. But, Create, Read, Update, and Delete (so long as you know the primary key) works pretty much flawlessly for the handful of records I shoved its way.Now to make a Search function...

Because of the delivery distortion field

No, I said I doubt it's going to last that long. I really don't know how long the UPS battery will last under that load, but definitely not that long. Power was restored about 2 hours earlier than estimated, but not before the UPS died.

Yeah, mine typically lasts about three minutes if the computer is idle.
I have it set to Hibernate if the power button is pushed while on battery. Pretty reliable.
-
@Tsaukpaetra I think mine was still running ~1/2 hour after the power went out, but I'm not sure how long it actually ran, because I didn't check it again after that.
Only one of the two computers plugged into it knows it's on battery power, because there's only one UPS->computer connection. The other has no idea. And unfortunately, at the moment, the one that knows is the less important of the two.

Status: got a German speeding ticket ... for going 111km/h where it apparently was only 100 ...

€20 ... that is sure going to put my food on the brake ... hey at least I went from 160km/h to 110 when there was a speed limit so I'll count it as save driving ... that 160 was indeed a tad too much for a fully loaded car with 3 bikes on a bike rack behind it.

The delivery distortion field is spreading!
I've now got an estimate for sometime in the beginning of March (presumably next year) to get a package to me from an Amazon depot that is about 10 miles or so away, and is the one that handles deliveries this area.
Estimated speed: 0.0023 mph.

I mean, that's basically a rounding error.
€20 fee ... it costs them more to track me down, send me a snail mail letter in Dutch and handle my payment ...
Hmm, last time I got a ticket (years ago) it was 75€ (which was appropriate), plus a 2€ administrative charge (which was acceptable), plus another 20€ administrative charge (which was the part that really pissed me off).
-
@topspin
Maybe I only got the last part and is there more on the way ...

I was fairly surprised by the amount ...No, it fit's the amount you should be charged. It'd be only 10€ if you'd gone 109km/h.
On the other hand, if you had your bikes on a trailer then going 11km/h too fast would be a whopping 25€.
No idea why there's no B*****m surcharge though.
-
@topspin
maybe because I was obviously leaving the country straight into
-
@topspin man, Y'all are whining about 20s and 15s, my last ticket was 300 or so.

Gah the fucking bane of my life. Ticketmaster is the worst of them. You want a $10 a person admin fee for hosting a website and sending a fucking email. Nice grift. If there ever was an company I would happily watch Amazon squash it would be ticketmaster.
Revolut recently introduced weekend fees for currency exchanges... It's a fully automated digital system. There is no human working a weekend shift at any point of this process. It was somehow free before but now costs money. Guess who has suddenly put thought into the no fees for anything business plan! fuckers.

In iPhone apparently there is no way to transfer all your contacts from phone to sim. Is this a fucking joke? It’s almost 2022 and we don’t have this on a phone?
-
@stillwater In what universe is on-SIM storage still relevant?
-
@TwelveBaud I need to transfer contacts to this sim so I can use it on an oldschool button phone.
-
@stillwater
In what universe are old-school button phones still relevant?While this used to be possible on iOS devices, it was removed in around 2018. It's also no longer possible on most Android devices.
If your SIM still supports onboard storage, the option most likely to succeed is manually entering them on that old-school button phone. Another possibility is to use a SIM/CCID writer attached to your computer. However, most SIM cards no longer support storage for any numbers beyond the subscriber's own and up to 10 local emergency numbers (e.g. 999), none of which can be configured by the customer.

We have a release today and a team member just texted me to ask “hey there is a movie coming out today can I take today off?”. He is the only devops guy we have for the day and he was the one who fixed the release for today and we had to go 6272 levels of approval. Now he wants to go for a movie! I don’t even know how to respond.

ROFLMAO this guide's solution is to share the contact with an Android and use that to save to the SIM card.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Those instructions no longer work if you have a phone with Google One. You need one with the AOSP Contacts app for that to still work.
-

Yeah, my phone's Contacts let me "move" the contact to "Device" but it wasn't clear whether that meant "Just the Contact's App storage" or "Yeah it's the actual SIM storage". My bet is the former, since it kept details that are impossible on SIM storage....
