@Gąska Of course! That's what I said!
-
@Gąska I think it should be Nigrim, then Jillian, then Panapos. (I don't have a reliable mental mapping between characters and players.)
-
@HardwareGeek Good reason to push my google sheet again where I recorded that:
Look at the Dramatis Personae tab. There's some blanks.

Congratulations @Gąska for the first critical hit of the campaign.
-
@PleegWat that's over 40 total damage to that monster. I swear, if this doesn't kill it...

It helps that it was distracted by two failed attacks of course...

"We loosened the monster up for you"
I didn't realize this campaign was against the fighting pickle jar :o
-
@Gąska I swear I'm not picking on you. That big crit just inflicted a lot of pain on a creature without too much in the way of higher reasoning, so...

Let us all proclaim: How much health does this damn thing have?
-
@PleegWat Boss monsters gonna boss monster.
-
OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE
-
Just so everyone knows, I'm at 6HP.

@Gąska said in RPG: The End War (OOC thread):
Just so everyone knows, I'm at 6HP.
It's a good thing that hitting 0HP doesn't kill you, then.
Completely unnecessary rules recap for hitting 0HP, because obviously that's never going to happen in this game
If someone lands a hit on you that takes you to negative your max HP, you are immediately dead. This can either be the hit that downs you, or a hit you take later. But the important thing is that you do not accumulate damage while at 0HP: you remain at exactly 0HP, so it takes a big hit.
Otherwise, when you hit 0HP, you're now dying, and you'll make a death save every turn, at the beginning of your turn. (For the halflings among us, yes, you get to reroll 1s on this one, too.)
Death saves are pretty simple: roll a d20, go high. 10+ is a success, 9– is a failure. 1 is two failures, and 20 is "immediately regain 1HP, completely exiting this entire mechanic, and you may take your full turn as normal (but remember that you're probably prone)".
- Once you have three failures: congratulations, you have died!
- Once you have three successes: you have stabilized. You still have 0HP, but you are no longer dying, and will regain 1HP (and consciousness) after 1d4 hours. If you take damage, go back to dying with 0 successes and 0 failures.
- If you take damage while you're dying, add one failed death save. If someone critted you, add two failed death saves – and remember, while you're dying, you're considered incapacitated, which means all melee attacks are automatically crits against you.
- Anyone may stabilize you with a Wisdom(Medicine) check as an action; you only need to hit DC 10, so literally anyone can try and have a decent shot at it. If you consume one use of a Healer's Kit, then skip the check, and it immediately succeeds. You get the same result as if you got three death save successes: you remain unconscious at 0HP, and will regain 1HP (and consciousness) after 1d4 hours.
The upshot is that going down is not the end of the line, and a single point of healing will pop you back up again, ready to fight. But a bloodthirsty GM (or individual opponents who are particularly vindictive) will have enemies surround and wail on you until you're dead.

And Panapos has proficiency with Medicine, so +3 to the check roll.

@Mason_Wheeler I've been looking through the PHB, and I don't see anything about pouring a potion of healing down an unconscious persons throat. I'm not sure whether it's an official rule, or an extremely common house rule, but I've always played that it can.
And if all else fails, there these:
Unfortunately, the paladin doesn't get any of these until at least level 9, which won't help us for a long time. (A cleric could get it at level 5, which is still of no immediate use.)

Same here. Consider this "rule" to be in force for the campaign.

Git good, don't die!

@Gąska I'm on 4, and that's just because of being flung out of the cart.
-
Also, @DMBot is down again

Did you forget to increase your health on level up? I'd think everyone has at least 12 max HP.
-
@Gąska You should have the size of your hit die, plus a roll of your hit die (or half its average value, rounded up), plus twice your constitution bonus.
A sorcerer only has a d6 hit die. If he does not have a constitution bonus and he had a bad roll for L2, 8 hit points is possible.

First level sourceror is 6 + con modifier, on level up there should be an additional 4+con modifier, or d6+ con modifier if you decided to roll instead of taking the safe route

Yeah, that's irritating. Second night in a row that's happened. I think I found the problem and corrected it. Guess we'll know tonight!
-
Only noticed at second glance that that was a maximum damage roll - double 6.
-
Since it took me some searching: On the roll20 character sheet, click the gear icon next to your level to switch to a second display where you can enter experience.
-
@Mason_Wheeler Are we keeping track of ammo? If so, how many bolts do I have and can I recover the two I used?

And as we're level 2 we'll be starting with 300
-
@DMBot roll 1d2
-
@Mason_Wheeler
result: 2
1d2[2]
-
@Jaloopa Your quiver has 20 bolts, and you should be able to recover both of the two you've shot without trouble.
-
@Mason_Wheeler I assume mine has 20 as well?
-
@PleegWat That's right.
-
@Mason_Wheeler What about our personal effects (stuff from our background, thieves' tools, etc)

My Con Modifier is 0. And I rolled for level up, and rolled a 2. (6 + 0) + (2 + 0)

and don't forget the Joker!
-
I was wondering how @Mason_Wheeler is going to tie me in to the party. I must say, a letter is quite a boring way to go about it.
-
@Gąska I was setting up for a slower process of talking you along. My first move was to pretend that this was business as usual.
There's still a couple of questions as far as I'm concerned. Camping gear is one thing, but as I understand bags of holding are quite expensive.
-
I'm used to Pathfinder rules, where you have to "confirm" a crit by a second roll good-enough-to-hit (missing on the second roll means it's just a regular hit).
I never really thought about why this was the case, but I guess it makes AC actually factor into critical chance.

Tell that to my Wild Magic Sorcerer. It's a gamble every time he casts a non-cantrip spell.
-
@Gąska I'm also blindly assuming Bob can't read. Feel free to get angry about that.
-
@PleegWat said in RPG: The End War (OOC thread):

As an Uncommon item, they're meant to be in the 100-500 GP range. Not all that expensive, all in all.

I'm fine with that, but I'm not sure @Mason_Wheeler is fine with that.
-
@Mason_Wheeler Still, quite more expensive than the camping gear inside. Though still in line with the total amount of army gear the lieutenant left us.
Anyway I'll stop focusing about that detail.
-
@Gąska I meant character wise - Jillian is handing the letter to Ruven and not to you.

With an INT of 6, Bob can barely speak coherent sentences; he's almost certainly illiterate.

This is handled in RAW
-
@HardwareGeek Someone who can't read can still get angry if someone else assumes they can't read.
-
@PleegWat Bob is certainly too dumb to register that something is an insult.
