Who still uses checks? Especially for $0?
Checks are typically made from paper and are not particularly bouncy, unless specially treated.
Have you met @Tsaukpaetra? Everything associated with him is special.

Status: Sunny. Online weather says current temperature is -3°C with a forecast high of +4°C, but there is liquid water dripping from everything, which makes me doubt the accuracy of the online current info. No more precipitation forecast until next Thursday, at which time the temperature is forecast to be, at minimum, 13°C, so expect that precipitation to definitely be liquid.
AIUI temperature measurements are made inside boxen with no direct sunlight, which would affect temperature considerably on the ground.
Sure, sunlight can melt snow/ice when the air temperature is below freezing, but I would expect that water to refreeze, and I don't see that happening. I'll stick a thermometer outside, though, and see what it says.
Edit: Ok, I'll give them the -3. My thermometer seems to have settled around -2.8, with some fluctuation. Even places in the shade are dripping liquid water, but I guess it's just running off the roof (in the sunlight) faster than it can refreeze.

Personally, I'm not seeing any drippage.

Also, don't forget that the freezing point of water is 0C... assuming pure water. Once other things (salt, dirt/sand, etc) are in solution with the water, the freezing point becomes lower.

When I get the Internet back, I might write a unit converter for the bot. Or get the bot online again...
I won't be implementing conversion to unlike units though, like "2 teaspoons in kilobytes" on Google.

status My X1 is on the way back to Lenovo for repair again. Battery failure 2x in the 1st year. Maybe I better buy the extended warranty... (I just have the normal 1y included one.)
(this time it won't boot without power. And when booted, says there's no battery. But it runs when I pull the plug. And sometimes it does see the battery.)

I usually have one thing happen with my lenovos (service has always been fast - I have it back in hand within a week). And then they're good for many years.
-
@dcon Does that include out-of-warranty service for 5-year-old-plus units? (Actually) asking for a friend...

When the battery is still at 80%, yes.

From what I remember, the freezing point is only a "strong suggestion" - you can get water down to ... -20 °C I think? Should be rather called the "melting point".
Same goes for the boiling point - you can get water to about 104 °C (though in this case it's an especially bad idea because at some point it will "remember" that it should have begun boiling 4 °C ago and make good for the lapse rather rapidly. Exploding boiling water is not fun!)

Status: In other news, I finally had the opportunity to properly fix the DVR the rat had gotten disconnected some years ago.
Turns out, the in-wall ethernet was fine, and only a small wiring issue existed (pins 7/8 were swapped somehow). So, one cable swap and we're back on wires, baby!
Hopefully now the NVR backup will stop disconnecting (I had bodged in a cheap-o wifi router to bridge it, which was... unreliable), and I can spy on myself again!

BTDT. Be careful when boiling water in a microwave. Most of the time, it's never been a problem for me; the container and/or impurities in the tap water provide enough nucleation sites for vapor bubbles to form normally, but one time with pure mountain water and a new container with no scratches, it didn't boil until I dropped the tea bag in. Tea surprise!

Yeah. A friend of mine got some scalding water into his face this way. My parent's microwave actually has pictograms warning of this on its lid.
It's rather similar to how you should not pour water on concentrated acids. Concentrated acids are usually not fun, flying droplets of concentrated acids are even more not fun and hot flying concentrated acids are very much on the top of my: "No need for that. At all."-list.
