Having just done that, I can tell that's not enough stuff!
All you really need is 4 long screws. Fitting 2.5" drive into 2.5" bay is much trickier.

I just went to Amazon and got the adapter. It arrived the next day.

Works for me - well, close enough. Exceptions are ignorable. Working with multi images and selection? Yeah, that's pretty fucked.

Wife started screaming in the playpen, for me to come over immediately. I could not hear children cry, so fearing the worst, I double-time it and hurt myself in the process.
To find her staring horrified at a spider some 8mm in length (including legs). And no, there are no poisonous spiders in Finland. The only pauses to her frantic screams were from prodding our younger child, to prevent him from grabbing at the spider.
Que loud demands for me to "KILL IT! KILL IT NOW!".
*sigh*
I carefully picked the spider up, and tossed it out the window.

@dcon Exceptions made it impossible to render a second gradient (first one worked, giving me a false sense of security), and the way selections work is horribly broken

Not too warm, but that's with the AC on full blast, and it's still morning.

Luckily I only ran into exceptions on file open.

It's closer to Paint.Net than to Paint.

Paint had a few (very few) redeeming features of things that for a long time were actually easier done in its trivial interface than in more powerful programs. Like just grabbing the little square on the bottom right of the image to immediately crop / resize.
Also, this thing looks like it uses GTK so I could just link to any random of my repetitive rant posts about that, but suffice to say I'm almost completely sure that even it's open/save dialogs areFUBARworse than paint.

Paint is pretty good compared to many of the often touted replacements. Paint.net is about the only tolerable one, before you get into something like Photoshop

@izzion with a new major patch and streamlining of the early game coming out Tuesday!!!
-
@Benjamin-Hall @izzion Dammit, that's making me want to reinstall it.
-
-
@izzion Yeah, but does FF14 have vulperas? No? Thought so.
-
We have better
-
@izzion Vieras are just horribly ugly.
-
@Atazhaia
It's ok, I understand that WOW has warped your sense of beauty. crossing motions you can be cleansed, my child...
-
@izzion WoW has a plethora of actually cool and good-looking races. FF14 does not.
-
@Atazhaia To be honest, the art style in WoW is...ugly. Horrifically so. Cartoonish in fact.
-
-
@Tsaukpaetra it, and the character animations, just feels clunky. The heads, hands, and bodies are all mismatched in size and scale. Like a game from the PS2 era at best. Oh wait, it is from that era.
-
@izzion Looking it up, FF14 got one, that is ONE, playable race not looking like total shit. So there’s that.
-
@Atazhaia Meanwhile, WoW got more awesome looking playable races than FF14 has in total. And that’s me not counting horrible abominations like undeads and mechagnomes.
Orcs, trolls, tauren, pandaren, draenei, worgen, vulperas... And Shadowlands massively extends the character customisation options to boot.
At least that one FF14 race means it got a better selection than Rift!

Far too warm. I have to keep turning off my portable air con unit when I go on calls as it's noisy.
Yeah, it's 33 °C over here and will likely stay in that range until next Friday.
School started last Thursday. What fun!

I simply could not get into the story of FFXIV. Quite a number of people are ranting about it being so good whereas I was actively loathing the entire cast about halfway through.

Still bad but I’d take that.
Contemplating doing an Al Bundy and moving into the Lidl.
-
@Rhywden if you only got into ARR (the base game), that's noted as being the weak spot of the story for a lot of reasons. The characters mature, the stories come into focus, and things get better. They're also smoothing out a lot of the fetch quests and other pointless stuff early on in Tuesday's patch (thankfully).
Of course, if you aren't into JRPG plots or FF plots (bombastic, scenery chewing, not entirely subtle or twisty), then you won't like this one. It's basically the distillation of FF plots, and the latter expansions do it very well IMO.

Additional Status: Invited to a birthday party. Don't really feel like going yet, but maybe that gets better later.
Went to the comic book store for the first time ever to see if I could find some nerdy gift. I now understand how Leondard and Sheldon in TBBT don't have too much money (at least in a few episodes) despite their well paid jobs. Looks like you can spend literally all of it on comics and Warhammer 40k stuff.

Yup. It looked fun at first glance but good lord what an endless money pit.

And if you start getting into it, you have to buy rulebooks. $60 for the base rules, which don't have enough to actually play the game. So you need at least another $60 on a codex. Which get outdated and so you're replacing them frequently, as well as pasting in errata that come every 6 months or so.
I actually have some Age of Sigmar models, because they're really pretty and can be used as D&D enemies reasonably well. Not enough for even a full 2,000 point army. And that was like $500.

Status: Did a very smart thing when I moved my stuff into a storage unit. I figured "I'll not need these tables until I have a place of my own, so why not stick the (detachable) legs behind everything to save space!". But now I need them. And accessing that would mean moving every single thing out, including a bunch of pretty heavy stuff.
-
@topspin said in The Official Status Thread:
Yeah, that's getting up there. 35–37 is pretty standard summer weather around here. Fortunately, I'm not finding the humidity to be as oppressive as its reputation led me to believe it would be. And indoors, AC is universal; real estate listings don't even mention it, because it's simply a given.

I apparently requested responses from all who are invited to my PTO "meeting" (a mailing list with ~200 people).
Oh, the toasters. We used to do that at a previous job. It never got old declining because it conflicted with standups

I creeped out my arachnophobic ex by picking the spider up and letting it run around on my hands the first time she screamed to come and save her from a spider.
I am not a good man. But she did calm down a bit about spiders after living with me for a few years.
We don't have native deadly spiders, I think the most dangerous native spider is the cross spider, in Sweden, but there have been cases of black widow spiders seeing up shop here. There have been a few other excotic spiders that have survived winters as well.
-
@Carnage My current location has hobo spiders. Which don't climb, but are big and have a nasty bite. They do like to hang out in clothes or shoes, though. Wikipedia says they're not officially venomous, but I've known people who got bad bites. Maybe infection?
There have been reports of the brown recluse hanging out here, but it's quite a bit outside their normal range. Those are pretty nasty, but much smaller.

what would it imply if you accepted... (we create a meeting also, but simply mark it as out-of-office, nobody gets invited)
