@loopback0 no, you're right, that happened earlier

The worst is when people start trying to pull apart what others write at the sub-phrase level, rather than actually engaging with the point. Hate those, especially when two people decide to do it to each other.
Heh heh, sorry about doing that a few times. It seemed popular after all!

@Gąska said in Update: the new admin/moderation team and changes discussions will begin soon:
it's really, really hard to convince people that reality is different from what they remember.
Reality is quite often very different from one's interpretation of impressions.

Hah. That reminds me of the time @accalia set her password to the text of War and Peace and crashed the forum.
And now we know why some websites implement (as part of) their password rules as:
- Longer than 8 characters
- Shorter than 7 characters
Play along....

@sockpuppet7 I don't think we need to start creating categories just for specific users. Even if we did he wouldn't come back and if he did he would bleed over everywhere else.

To me it seems that I broke Blakey. Me and a few other forum members.
Whoever made it so that all of his posts' text was green probably lit the final fuse.
Huh?
That's amazing. I'm sad that I missed it.

because the pages long rants back and forth is pretty much gone.
Having been in a few of those, they are only interesting (and even that is stretching it) to the people participating. I generally skipped the ones where others were doing it. I don't mind them from time to time, but they can stifle threads.
Even when I have an interest in the discussion, I often scroll past the walls of text — more likely the ones by the person I disagree with.

I don't like it either, but I'm probably guilty of this. When someone is horribly wrong on the internet™, I just can't stop myself.

Yeah. I tend to do the "wrong on the internet, must smash with hammer of TRUTH" about D&D stuff more...I need to learn to chill a bit.

@Benjamin-Hall We all know I'm a ic dickweed; the topic doesn't matter. It doesn't even matter whether I know anything about the topic, if I can google it quickly.

@Polygeekery Here's a starting point in the thread "Now testing civilized mute on meta" where the green text is noticed.
Which spun out to this thread, in which this now topical comment was made by blakeyrat:
If you don't like how this forum works, go back to Care Bears Online or whatever child-friendly cesspit you crawled out of.

Continuing my today's theme of "nothing ever changes":
@loopback0 said in Hey if you have a problem with shit on this forum, TALK TO ME (this thread title insults nobody in particular, morons), or in which we bad-order parts of @blakeyrat's brain:
What started this topic? What did I miss?

I think you're guessing how this category would work differently from me. Maybe a category where derailing isn't allowed or something, I can't speak for the guy, I want the new mod team to figure things out with him.

Thanks. Apparently I didn't miss it. I had a few upvoted in there. CRS and all that.
But it reminded me of various really interesting people who left the forums because things got too Nerfed and at least one other person who left because he thought we were all Nazis.
The forums have a long and varied history.

Mostly I prefer to only really address one thing at a time as it makes it clearer what I'm talking about.
Yeah, I've noticed. It's your style, I understand that. But very often - and it's not a theoretical, I'm actually commenting on your past posts - you lose a looooooooooooooot of nuance of the topic at hand.
Sometimes, I think people over-nuance things.

People are mostly good about staying on topic in help threads until the OP gets a workable solution or decent suggestion.

I've needed a gentle reminder a time or two. That's why I created a thread especially for those unhelpful comments.

It's fun being behind.

@pie_flavor I do wonder what that was from. I almost never retract any post of mine, except when I derp totally or have a network glitch and double-post.

As the image suggests, an entire discussion (10+ posts in a row) was deleted. Likely by the

@PleegWat yes. Rather than Jeff the posts away or purge them into the memory hole entirely he let them sit there to shame the guilty.

Yes, yes, and mine was (basically) telling someone to chill out. etc, etc.
-
@boomzilla LOL downvote.
-
@boomzilla I'm not too concerned about deletion of replies to now-deleted posts, regardless of their content. Because now they're out of context and not deleting them is a sign of potential partiality. Downvote, flag, and move on.
-
It would be neat if we could up-or-downboat moderator actions, specifically. Like the action shows up underneath the post with its own reaction buttons.
Wait, the bad ideas thread is .

Now I'm kinda wondering how familiar Alex is with this forum's culture - and whether it's typical of the owners of other forums as well.
-
@Gąska I can't speak to forums but I'm very familiar with Discord, and people who are Twitter famous or YouTube famous and make discords for their fans almost never actually hang out in the discord, because they're too busy doing Twitter or YouTube things. so I'd assume it's pretty typical in other spheres too.
-
@pie_flavor well, have you ever read YT comments? Would you really want to hang out with those guys?
