The black tar-like substance I recently expelled seems evidence enough.

@ben_lubar what does “to federate” mean in this context?
I'm strongly considering discarding this idea because Jeff Atwood already thought of it and that probably means it's very bad:

I mean, would it actually recreate with other mastodon instances, or be something new? Because I don't see integration working out of the box at all. Where would retreated posts go? What about replies? Quotes? New topics?
It sounds like in the making....

Imagine if you will, recreating a mega topic like the status thread or . Would that break....

No! I will not even imagine that. Why would you even think of it?

Seems OpenMediaVault is a good candidate
Probable final update on this project for a while. I felt brave enough to post my build up on the actual OpenMediaVault forum:
Thanks for reading like and subscribe?

Well, not that topic in exactness, just the sheer post count of such a topic.
Edit: Oh. Huh. For some reason I thought the guac thread had more posts.
Is the Status Thread now the longest topic on the forum?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Ok, I guess. I don't even know what the post count is; I set that topic to "ignore" about 1000 posts in.

Yeah. For some reason I thought it was the most posted topic.
By short scan of recently-posted-to, it seems it's actually the Status Thread followed by the Likes thread and then the guac thread. Who knew?
-
@Tsaukpaetra I'm not surprised likes is at or near the top of the list, but I've been ignoring it for a long time, too, so I have no idea how much activity it's had recently.

Speaking of, there was leftover avocado from last night, which I ate for breakfast this afternoon. This may have been a bad idea.

@Vixen I assume that's a time-lapse video? What was the real time on that print?

it is a timelapse. :-)
3D printers don't print like inkjets after all! :-D
it was about a five hour print give or take. would have been about 4.5, but the timelapse script adds a bit of time per layer to set the print head where it wants to and take the snap.
Not the longest print i've done. did a vase in that multicolor roll on the desk behind it that was a 19 hour print that used most of the build volume..... but i printed that before I set up Octoprint with Octolapse to take the video..... so imma need to print another one of those.... probably after i swap the nozzle for an 0.8mm one (it's an 0.4mm now) and tune in vase mode for that nozzle size....

I'm not sure what you mean "other mastodon instances"
ActivityStreams is a W3C standard, and anything that wants to consume it can. It's a pretty simple JSON-based format. The only complicated part is the actual routing and handling of messages.
Also, ActivityStreams supports [gasp] pagination.

So it has likes and watch times and topic IDs and et al? Color me surprised at such forward thinking!

There's your problem.
Learning to cook was probably one the single best things I've done to improve my quality of life (and women find it sexy, too).

Also status: I love frozen skillet dinners where, after cooking at the recommended temperature for 1.5x the recommended time, it's still not even thawed, and after 2x the time, it's hot but the veggies are still basically raw.
Never had that problem. Are you sure the thermostat of your oven isn't busted/decalibrated?

LED lights to light the print area for nighttime snaps. they're not on in this one for reasons of i forgot to turn them on, but in future ones it'll let me timelapse without needing to leave the room lights on
-
@Tsaukpaetra
I'm sorry for Tired too.
-
@Vixen Ah. I see the LED bulbs now, on closer inspection.
I would have thought that to be a bad place for a light source. Either the part will be back-lit, or the print-head will be in front of it. Or blocking the light. Then again, I don't know what kind of lighting time-lapse photography would need...

it's suboptimal light position but.......... it'll do for being ~5 Watt light source. Enough for an okay timelapse, but not enough to add a noticable difference to the electric bill (unlike the printer itself......)

Status: I just tried to open a bag of ravioli. One that looks like this
https://static.ulabox.com/media/122124_l1.jpgI tried opening it by hand. Usually it's easy, you just pull the glued plastic apart with a little force. But this one wouldn't budge even as I pulled with all my might.
At this point I could have just grabbed the scissors and be done with it, but I stubbornly decided I wouldn't be defeated by a bag of ravioli. I had a genius idea: just push on the bag and pop it open like a balloon. So I put the bag on the table and pushed harder and harder... eventually I was resting all my 73kg of weight on the damn thing (that I had already pulled as hard as I could). As you can probably guess... it didn't budge either.
So at this point, I didn't care about ruining the ravioli, I had to test how strong they made this damn bag. I set it on the ground and literally stood on it with both feet. I even bounced up and down a little bit (not too hard because I didn't want to fall over). Again, it didn't care.
I conclude thus that Buitoni designed their ravioli bags to withstand at least 200kg of weight without popping.

No, just this one. You'l handle the next one with that expectation so the bottom will fall out when you pick it up.
