Stack Exchange cleans up 7+ year long beta status
-
Good news for whoever regularly visits Stack Exchange! A whole lot of sub-sites have been 7 years or more in beta, so they finally concluded that those had enough trials:
The Parenting and Homebrewing moderators can finally sleep at night.
Oh, and I guess the Windows Phone team is also going to be less concerned, no matter if the platform is canceled.

Well.... the Homebrewing moderators at any rate.
-
@powerlord After 7 years (or more), I hope that the original parenting moderators can also get some sleep.
-
Well, Parenting does require a certain amount of Homebrewing.

Well, no, it might be "distant hotel" brew. Or "back seat of a 57 Desoto" brew.(1) Or, indeed, any one of a thousand and one (probably more) other ways of doing the deed while not at home.(3)
(1) I can tell you one thing about having sex in a car.(2) If it wasn't for the romantic aspect, we would reject it as even more deeply undignified than sex normally is.
(2) That's the voice of experience speaking, if you don't mind, not a study in theoretical copulation.
(3) Like the over-enthusiastic young couple I saw one night on the train who got up together and disappeared, together, into the toilet. People will copulate in the damnedest places.

I think you misunderstood.
Being a parent requires a certain amount of drinking to get through the day.
Duct tape helps, also.

Assuming they didn't become members of parenthood again.

I had sex in the cab of an 18-wheeler semi. Does that count?

Doesn't need to be home-brewed hooch, though.

Probably. Maybe. Depends on whether it was one of the really big ones with a mini-bedroom in the back of the cab.
This also made me think of Starrigger.(1) (The protagonist ends up at more than one point in the series having sex in the back of the cab while an AI (copied from his deceased father) is driving the truck.)

having sex in the back of the cab while an AI ... is driving the truck.
Isn't that the purpose of fully self-driving vehicles?
-
@HardwareGeek well, looking how things go right now, I'm pretty sure the new goal is to make drivers much more focused on driving by making the car do unexpected things with super high frequency.

I for one will not take space seriously until there is authentic space porn. I also suspect that after the initial shock of meeting intelligent alien life our second thought will be : can I shag it?

preferably in the backseat of a space ship

If you're referring to a Lot Lizard, no, it doesn't. Well, it depends.
'd
I didn't realize the term was widely known.

Do I get extra points for the car being parked in an ordinary residential street outside the house where my girlfriend was living?
-
@Steve_The_Cynic
During day time?
-
@Luhmann And was it her father's car?

Technically my father's car, but in practice he always drove the other one, so it might as well have been my own.

Well I think it depends on which side of the penis you were.
I'm not much for pegging or , so it was just my and the truck driver's .

At the risk of re-railing the thread:
I'm active, occasionally, on Board & Card Games Stack Exchange. It's the oldest one on that list. I guess it's vaguely nice to have Beta go away, but from the comments on the OP, it looks like it's just going to be beta-by-another-name. No custom design, no change to voting requirements, nothing.
It can't possibly be all that expensive to get a unique design for a particular site - there are only about a dozen graphical elements that need to be updated. Treating the smaller sites like second-class citizens just feels dumb.

The feeling of superiority over the poor souls looking for help on the site is the goal of SO for the power users and admins, so ... works as intended?

Having done it as well, as well as some other interesting places, it has more to do with lack of better options at the time.
