I managed to chat up one of the barmaids at least. Got a phone number and meet date for tomorrow.

I feel quite drunk now. Asked how much the bar tab was. It was half what I thought it would be.
Wasabi Nuts are disgusting.

@sweaty_gammon That's because it's horseradish coloured green.

For real? I thought Wasabi is a relative of the mustard plant.
Actually the taste in my mouth is fishy horseradish. You are most likely correct.
-
@sweaty_gammon Wasabi is different but most "wasabi" is not actually wasabi and is just horseradish.

Yeah, I was kinda disappointed when I learned that.

I wasn't aware. I like horseradish and it is kinda like mustard and I know Wasabi is from a plant that is like mustard ... so I assumed that is why it tastes similar.
I am going to have to find the real stuff to taste.

To the extent that places that serve actual wasabi tend to have people complain it doesn't taste right

@Tsaukpaetra: Never Go full Ben Lubar.
I'm invoking his assistance on Discord. So far he's helped me learn many non-obvious things that don't seem to be explained anywhere.
For instance:
But I must put a pause for now, it's the end of the work day and I must vacate.
So far I've managed to convert a single class (that holds a few ints and strings) to the Go equivalent. Make that what you will that it's taken three hours to do this so far.

As far as I can tell, there's no such thing as keywords. Or, I haven't gone far enough into the documentation to discover any. In fact, I learned about
var
from @ben-lubar far sooner than the docs were apparently comfortable teaching me about it.

Yeah, apparently it's not even necessary if you do
:=
instead, because magic happens that makes Go define the variable if it doesn't exist yet or assign to it if it does.

I was going to talk about how progressive Microsoft was for allowing expanding storage to be used as scratch space for upgrades when needed, but ever since the first time this screen showed up it's never let me actually continue (even after I increased the size of the secondary drive).
What was I recommended for Linux? Zone Minder?
Let's see if I can't get that set up easier than this shit.

It was not really a recommendation, just something that looked interesting when I researched that a couple years ago.

You should start a thread to document your progress.

Threads are free, after allI might just. But, it's looking like the package should Just Work™ with only minimal configuration.
Oh shit, I jinxed it. Now I definitely need to make a thread, huh?
Except, moving over the jails isn't going to be done before the upgrade, so I'm not entirely sure what to do... Hmm...

Sadly, no amount of space on other drives is going to "free up 3.82 GB on the C: drive."
16 GB is tough; I have enough trouble with my living room computer's 40 GB drive and a buddy's 32 GB convertible. At that size I'd probably just wipe it and install from scratch to do the feature updates.

That was my next option, but I don't (yet) have a recent ISO. So I'm waiting on that.
It was mostly boredom anyways, or something else if other earlier comments are to be believed.

the package
Well, the FAQ (last updated 2014, apparently ) seems to indicate optimizing things like memory usage for Athlon XP processors and increasing shared memory beyond a few gigs. I'm getting a little worried....

@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

According to the docs ZoneMinder streams using MJPEG. My worry is somewhat increasing, but I doubt I'll be watching the cameras very often for this so .
Other than that, it looks like my iSpy settings should be directly transferable (by hand of course), though the recommendation to never set the FPS lower than that which the camera can provide is troubling. Weird even.
Edit: Oh hey, looks like FreeNAS contributors have made an official plugin for this already!
Installing...
Well, fuck. Won't tell me what went wrong, and because raisins just destroyed the partially created jail. Wonderbar.

What do you mean,
whitespacecorrect indentation is significant? throws hissy fit
Right, let’s interpret the spelling of your variable names instead.

I'm still wondering when in the docs they were planning on telling me about that at all. Seriously, it was mentioned many times several gotchas exist when exporting, but having read several dozen pages of docs I still haven't seen it explained that that's what they're talking about when the words "when exporting" are used.

Just do what Rust does and emit a compiler warning.

@pie_flavor note that in Rust, capitalization doesn't change semantics. It just pesters you to keep the convention, but there are no consequences of ignoring it.

Status: Well, that's this day completely fucked. Had to go health clinic in morning without breakfast first to leave blood samples. Ended up well as usual, in that I almost blacked out after it and my hands and lower arms got HEAVILY tingly and nearly lost all sense of touch from them, the sense of touch still not being completely restored 2 hours later. Not just the arm they sampled from, but both of them.
I am also completely exhausted and walking very slowly, which was good when I had 2 minutes to get from the bus to work and got to slowly shuffle my way there, only ending up 10 mins late. I think I shall spend minimal time at work and then head back home again and rest. Yay for subconscious phobias...
