Actually pretty pissed off with the guy I work with. It isn't fair to approve my PRs then complain about my code.

To the dude that left the slack message saying I had fucked up. I ended up leaving him a massive email of how he fucked up for him to see in the morning. I gotta be in a face to face meeting with him in the morning.

Still a good film though, especially for people who like people who like period naval dramas.
My brain first tried to interpret this as "period navel dramas." I'm not sure what that means, but, Bad Brain!

What I said is going to cause a bit of a stink tomorrow.
I am fed up of someone making arbitrary rules before and after code review.
He approved the changes. I completed them after he approved them and then complained it broke on areas of the system I didn't know about or could possibly know about.

Status: the stunning conclusion to the saga of my ears!
After using that wax softener for two days, I went in again for an ear irrigation that succeeded this time. A ton of wax came out each, and now I can hear so much better than I think I could before I'd ever noticed an issue.
I dread to think just how long it had been building up.

Possibly. Maybe even the Each and Everything collection.

Status: Installed Windows 10 from 2015. Can't find Windows Update. I think it's in the Settings app. But I can't launch said app because the Start Menu fucked itself after the first reboot.
Time to create a new base image....
-
@Tsaukpaetra No, you can't launch it because you removed .NET, remember?

Nope, turns out it was just being slow.
I forgot how slow Windows can be running off of USB 2.0.
Edit: We'll see how well it can Feature Update off a 16 Gb stick...
Fuckin' bloat, I swear....
-
@Tsaukpaetra Still. Why reimage it that frequently? And why not have dark theme enabled?

Um, this computer is seven years old since the last time I had to touch it. I fresh formatted from Windows 7.
Also, the currently installed Windows 10 doesn't have dark mode (yet). It can barely change the title bar and start menu colors (and not even that, because I haven't activated it yet).
-
@Tsaukpaetra You have spoken before about how repeatedly you install Windows to prevent errors and about tearing out a lot of important things to improve startup time / save space.
Also, why doesn't it? Why not install the latest version?
-
Status: Though I love Chrome, I am yet again amazed by its ability to overload my graphics card with simple video. No other app save for fullscreen games manages to force a two-second black screen. And it gets crashed routinely by Amazon Video or many-episode-straight YouTube playlists.

Did I say I did that for every single one of my machines? Sorry I left you with that impression, for it is false. Besides, with Windows' semiannual "feature updates" much of the benefit of reinstalling is effectively done for me, kinda.
Though, you do have a point, perhaps I could make a specific appliance build for this machine...
Also, why doesn't it? Why not install the latest version?
I don't have the latest image in that part of the network, so I used what was available. Windows will update itself (forcibly) in the course of a few days anyways so it's meh anyways.

Yeah, recently I've found it causing both of my GPUs to struggle rendering 1080p 30 fps video... Kinda baffled. It's really entertaining to full-screen videos and watch it actually render resized first before the video resizes to the viewport.

Energy efficiency.
Status: mightily annoyed by the default font in Firefox for Ubuntu. "ffi" is a ligature but "ff" isn't.
-
@GÄ…ska I read that having dark mode enabled improved energy efficiency/battery life.
-
@Atazhaia Really? Surely the display keeps the backlight going constantly, so nothing there. Do the liquid crystal cells require significant amounts of power to charge?

15 years ago, maybe.
-
@kazitor I looked it up. For LCD screens, no. For OLED screens, yes.

Status: stupid fahrenshite. Just added yeast to water from the kettle because the recipe said "110 to 115 degrees F" and I wasn't thinking properly
update: I can't tell if the dough's getting larger or if it's just flattened out :/
I'm going to assume that, since the bottom has remained fairly warm, the yeast are active.

"Hey, remember that program we wanted to run with Wine on the Linux server? Did you try that?"
:@anonymous234: "Yes, I tried it and it w..."
"-that program that we needed to compile the files, that's only for Windows, so we wanted to see if it would work on Linux with Wine so we could use it to create the backend server that we need for our service that would receive the files and compile them? Did you try that?"
:@anonymous234: "...yes, I tried it and it works fine."
-
@kazitor Boiling water to 110-115 C could prove a challenge with a normal kettle, though. Maybe if you had a pressure cooker handy...
Edit: A tip I got with yeast was that instead of faffing about with heating liquid to exactly 37C just have it at room temperature and let the dough rest for twice the time, which has the same effect.

No, it's because I go by my initials, and I've always gone by my initials. The "Do you put periods in your initials or not" thing seems to be as bad as vim-vs-emacs or init-vs-systemd in some circles, and the way I've written by name for my entire life is on the wrong side of this site's rules.

@mott555 Ha, fun fact: My initials are done both ways on my book covers. With
initialsperiods in one spot, without in another spot.

@mott555 I'd request a refund.
