Oh look, another internet company lets its ego get in the way of everything

@Gurth It never used to be like that; I used it for years with no problem. At some point the Wikipedia people took over. And there's nothing they love more than deleting other people's shit.

@Gąska said in Oh look, another internet company lets its ego get in the way of everything:
Looking at this topic and saying "wow I don't want to have anything to do with Reddit" is like reading about Florida Man and concluding that all 330 million people living in USA are batshit crazy.
Right; but if you went your entire life and the only time you ever heard anything about the USA at all it happened to be Florida Man, then wouldn't you conclude that's what the USA is like?
I don't think I've ever heard, in my entire Internet career, something positive about Reddit. I've never had someone redirect me there for intelligent conversation. I've only ever heard stuff like this thread.

If I did, wouldn't the conclusion still be wrong?

Probably. Just like how most Europeans, based on the media they see, think the US is nothing but gun-toting cowboys.
But it's Reddit's responsibility to control its own image.

It has a huge variety of funny stuff and cat pics.
Seriously though, it's probably the biggest repository of content on the internet after Facebook.

Except the latter is a correct conclusion even if the steps to reach it weren't logically sound

I'm not batshit crazy. QED.

@pie_flavor that's exactly what a batshit crazy person would say

We don't think that. There's also New York, full of gun-toting gangsters.
But it's Reddit's responsibility to control its own image.
And sea water is salty. Both statements are just as true, and just as irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

Not nearly as good as r/babyelephantgifs, though.

@blakeyrat I only go to reddit for a few subreddits for specific games. They basically use reddit as free (and convenient if you already have an account) forum hosting, if they're not fan created/maintained to begin with.
As far as my limited experience goes, reddit can be alright if you're not in a subreddit dedicated to complaining about people (he types in a forum that is just that).

Well… all 21 million in Florida qualify for sure.
That's my point. You can't just lump all states together with Florida.
Wait, you want us to qualify and not broadly smear groups of people?
YMBNTE.

No, not at all. To us, the average
British colonistAmerican is rather a fat, nay, morbidly obese slob trudging along Walmart aisles on electric carts. And/or a walking STD.

That's the entire point of reddit.
To be more specific: reddit is supposed to be a place where you can have "A Community For X", not the official support place for X. It's supposed to be a place where fans of X can create a community, gather to discuss things about X, and if (in the case of games or software) the developers want to be a PART of that community they can, but they shouldn't be RUNNING it.
-
Yeah.
Just imagine what would happen to a forum about terrible software, if the founder of a company making terrible software was in charge of the forum.
Wait...

I'm guessing they were originally Polish Jewish. That's a grouping of people that's largely gone now, either emigrated (and assimilated elsewhere) or dead.
