Nobody's "vilified", that's ludicrous. People just want less dark smoke coming out of chimneys like it's fucking 1880s London.
Look, the reality here is that coal hasn't been a competitive product (for power generation) for decades. (And its non-power generation uses are minimal.) This industry going away is something that should have happened years ago, simply because it's not a competitive product.
The fact that a bunch of idiots built their identities around their job is the only reason this shit is still going on, and yeah it's sad you can't do the work your pappy did, your pappy's also kind of dumbshit if he didn't see the writing on the wall well before you were born, so stop deluding yourself, get some goddamned competitive skills, and go out there and be successful.

And, BTW, Denver isn't even a sanctuary city in the first place, so this one's just totally irrelevant.
The article says otherwise; it says they've stopped complying with ICE requests for several years now. This list of sanctuary cities from a pro-immigrant site also names Denver as a sanctuary city.
Only the California examples demonstrate that and, again, fuck California. Them assholes be crazy. None of your other examples demonstrate that.

Okay, there is a door, but there aren't any walls on either side of it, so you can get around it by sidestepping a couple feet. To achieve similar results with a house, you'd have to tear down most of the walls, such that these doors would become load-bearing.

Both sentences are equally badwrong. "Door" and "window" are both used to refer to the whole door or window assembly or to refer to just the door panel or window pane. If it is necessary to refer to only one part of either assembly, specific words for those parts do exist.
